David Nugent, could he be persuaded to drop down?,Burnley can't afford him.

Some suggestions you could get him for just over £2m,now i would take a punt on him any day of the week

I will be amazed if he makes it a premier league player, can do a good job in the CCC if/when we get promoted, but in league 1 a sure fire hit, imo.

Ok,a very long shot, but you never know in football.

No info on Craddock.

Inside knowledge Pards had Henderson watch Raynes early season.

Puncheon is a player Pards has admired publically.

The only info I have had was the Rooney approach which seems to of gone quiet.

I fully expect to see one of these in a Saints shirt.

Barnard

Jackson*

Rooney*

Puncheon

Whitbread

Raynes

Ward

Grant

* = snippets I've heard from ITK'ers & none of this Im actually claiming, this is my opinions combined with rumours.

which Grant is that?

Michael Raynes is having a shocking year and most Stockport fans believe that he should be dropped despite being captain. He makes one big mistake per game - bit like a young Titus Bramble. However, he has had to play alongside a number of young CBs and might perform better with an experienced pro alongside him.

If we were looking at a young centre half then I would prefer Craig Dawson from Rochdale as highlighted by someone ( possibly Chez) on another thread.

Of course there is nothing to say that Aarron Martin might not prove himself for us.

I thought Matthew Taylor of Exeter looked extremely solid and pretty good on the ball as well.

He has been a key to their rise over the last few seasons but at nearly 28 this is is the highest level he has played at in his career.Although the same could of course be said for Lambert.

His age would seem against him but anyone remember Matt Elliott, almost signed by Souness for Saints but went to Leicester instead,at about the same age and was outstanding for them in the prem for the next 5 or 6 seasons ?

(Good user name by the way).

Barnard

Roy Keane has been quoted as saying that Southend want 250k for Barnard, which if true (could well be given their finance and that he is out of contract at the end of the season), is probably worth a punt. Another option could be Kevin Lisbie, who finishes his loan at Colchester this week, and they have said they can't afford to sign him on a permanent.

Andrew Johnson , Birmingham City , needs some match fitness and McLeash knows AJ wants to regain fitness for the Premier league ... Loan to the end of the season perhaps , could AP be the person to get him fit and ready for Birmingham next season //

Would like to see AJ up front for us in a final push for the play offs.

Except he plays for Fulham.

Could bring AP's transfer total to 12 players in under 6 months!

He will be the envy of every manager in L1!

tbf he's prob the envy of most managers in the championship too.

...spend what you want, and you don't have to sell anyone..! great job.

Who's your money on?

For me, I reckon Lines and Elliot Ward

Priority for Pard's is CB - so i'd take a stab and say we've put in a bid for Ward. (we were linked with him before the loan window shut in November)

2nd one is probably a midfielder - lines is a good shout.

Dan Seaborne Exeter

Mark Ellis Torquay

MacCarthy Palace

Butterfield Palace

Ambrose Palace

Halford Wolves

Sorry last two not realistic and I am not sure Fulham would loan us young centre back Chris Smalling now he has broken into their first team squad.

why is there all this noise about Ward? Was he linked to us in a paper?

Lots of noises coming from a few places back in November - we were apparently trying to get him on loan before the loan window shut, but ran out of time.

this was reported in the local Coventry echo site as well i believe.

It wasn't just us interested though...may have changed now.

Bierhoff and Skacel?

Koller perhaps? ;-)

In all seriousness Id love to see us sign a more attacking central midfielder like hoolahan, Barnard at Sauuufend would also be good Im not sure I can see why we'd want Jackson from Gillingham, hardly setting the world alight there and at the prices quoted for him (1.5-2m) defo no thanks! Right back and a center back would also cheer me up thanks ML =]

Well one thing's for sure, he's certainly available:

I have a Gills supporting friend who is as equally obsessed with the rumour mill as some on here.

This morning he telled me that he has 'heard' that we made a tentative enquiry a few weeks back. Apparently the figures mentioned received no further communication from Saints, around the 1.75 mill mark!

I am sure someone will beat them down but won't it be us (at this stage). Shame, as I really like Jackson's laid back, change the game with one move style that would give us that something that many clubs lack.

I think of him as a stealth goal-scorer. Some might say that he's maybe not worth more than 1 mill at this stage of his career, but he has the sort of style that doesn't necesssarily rely on fitness, a natural goalscorer who will one day play on the big stage

all imho of course
