Official January Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

I have to laugh at how a while back a few posters made comments about how Sol Campbell wouldn't be a worthwhile signing when he was available on a free. Started tonight for Arsenal in the Prem. Yep, he would have been a terrible acquisition.

Judging by his performance against Stoke the other night he's far from his best at Prem level though. From the highlights it seemed as if he just couldn't cope with Fuller, and he's the kind of player that Sol would've had in his pocket 4 or 5 years ago. I think that he'll retire when his contract with Arsenal runs out (is it at the end of the season?).

Puncheon's a top player at this level. If we ever lost Lallana, i'd sign him in a heartbeat as his replacement. Good from set pieces too. I think we'd have a chance of getting him unless MK Don's get promoted this season.

issue at the moment though is that Mk Don's paid a loan fee to have him for the season - which is why i don't think we'll see any movement until the summer.

Although FC Twente are sniffing around him i heard.

Puncheon was best player on the park for MK.

Yes please

lets hope so!

We have an owner that has allowed our manager to increase a squad which was already far to big when he arrived. His words not mine.

He does buy the odd good player at this level but also some very odd signings have arrived as well.

My doubts now are as to whether he actually knows his best team. RB still seems to be a big problem as is our midfield.

seaborne is an odd one for me, still early doors though obviously.

I agree with you. Will be interesting to see who leave in January.

This whole best team arguement is very old fashioned. Alex Ferguson hasn't named the same side for over 100 games, it's all about picking the best player for the game at hand.

Do agree that the squad is far too big but on the other hand, we aren't going to be able to sell Molyneux, Pulis or Forecast amongst others and there's no point giving away players like Gillett, Gobern, Holmes, Thomson etc for peanuts they might be needed at some point.

The problem with our midfield is that when we play 4-4-2 we bypass it completely and they don't get a look in...

What's the latest on Danns & Stock?

Surely it can't have all gone wrong - after all Palace are in Administration and would need the dosh?

According to Donnie site O'Driscoll & Stock had MEGA fall out over the proposed move to Saints...

What next?

Mcsheffery has just gone to Leeds on loan until the end of the season.

blimey. If he can find the form (and confidence) of three seasons ago that will be some signing. They have some proper players there in Snodgrass, Beckford, Kilkenny and Kisnorbo. Despite that they still shipped three at Swindon. Says something about the top six or seven sides in this league.

Saw on Sky's clockwatch that Bryan Hughes has terminated his contract at Hull today. I've always thought he was quite a classy midfielder and would do a job for us in league one. Was also at Charlton at the same time as Pards so could be a link there. Apologies if this has been brought up elsewhere?

very decent footballer. He was great at Brum. Not the `midfield general' people talk about on here though, and can drift in and out of games. Does offer that touch of quality on the ball. Wages would be an issue I feel.

Pardew

"We are now finished for this second half of the season in terms of transfers, and this team now will have to see how far it can go in terms of getting us as close to the play-offs as possible, possibly winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and progressing in the FA Cup."

What if Donny make a last day offer for Gillett?
