Official January Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Completely agree Super, Puncheon is absolute class at this level and even Championship. What Plymouth are doing lettting him go on loan i have no idea..

I suggested we sign him when he was available from Barnet but we had zero funds that summer. I think he had a shocker for Plymouth early doors and Luggy lost confidence in the lad immediately. It's quite a jump from League 2 to the championship so maybe the step back down has helped him. I've seen a few times now for Franchise and he looks a real talent. Just the sort of player we should invest in before another CCC takes a chance on him.

Giilingham have just secured the loan of Peterborough United target man Rene Howe until the end of the season.

Now then, one could be forgiven for thinking that mark Stimson is bolstering his front line, but maybe not when you realise that The Gills are not very well off right now. Fans are calling for Stimson to go, even the normally supportive local rags are getting on his back. I also can't see them getting a rated CCC striker on the cheap.

IMHO Jackson (Simeon) is soon to be saying his training ground goodbyes.

I am not for one minute suggesting that he will come to us but as per thread title I DO think that he CDAJFU.

One aside I would like to point out is that Stimson has a very good scouting network and knowledge of the non league scene. I wouldn't be surprised if he's been following Howe since his Ketteirng days and may have unearthed another gem.

If AP is going to make a move, now is the time. Give me a call Al I have the mobile number of the bloke who wipes the tables in the exec lounge.

I'm a fan of Jackson, but I don't think we've had any official link to him at all (Only a report in the one news paper, if i recall correctly). I think it boils down to whether Pards thinks he can do a job for us at a higher level. He's been quoted as saying that he's signed 2 players who he feels can go all the way to the prem with us : Jackson's is going to cost around 1.5m - So unless Pards feels he is TOP class, then I don't think we'll make a move.

Very promising indeed... I think HCDAJFU, and £200,000 is a snip. Would be a nice 2-fingers up to Leeds as well.

Absolute Bargain when you see players like as mentioned before Gillespie to Colchester from Cheltenham was up at 400K.

You're right, he's not fast

southend's view on him -

''Had a good debate with my mate yesterday about Barnards worth.

Ignoring the fact he is out of contract in a few months, how good is he?

I'll start by saying despite what I put below, I do like Barnard and would rather have him in the team that not for sure!

Cons

1) Cannot hold the ball up well, normally bounces off him

2) Not particularly quick

3) Not capable of the truly spectacular (ala Eastwood/Collymore) goal out of nothing.

4) Liable of being injury prone

5) Hasnt got top drawer movement

Pros

1) In good form - is it permanent or temporary?

2) Good in the air for his height

3) Doesnt mind putting himself around

4) Willing worker

5) Good attitude

You certainly wouldnt put him in the Eastwood/Collymore class obviously, I would also put Angell and Benjamin above him.

With the form he is in, could he be likened to a Carruthers or Constantine? I.e. in a spell, looked very good front men - but couldnt sustain it.

I find it crazy personally that 'big' clubs are chasing him and some people on SZ expect him to go for around half a million!!?

My own view is that he is worth around £150,000 - £200,000 in this contract situation and if he had a couple of years left, then maybe £300,000-£400,000 absolute tops.''

If we sign someone fast at this level it will be of the the speedboat out of control variety i'm afraid...

Don't know why people keep on bringing up this whole lack of pace thing to criticise Barnard...

He's scored 17 goals this season in a pretty weak team ffs...and he's going cheap...it's a win win situation...

I don't think either of them were that great tonight. Neither struck me as being team players. We just need a tiger in midfield and some pace up front. Bailey from Charlton and Jackson from Gillingham would do it.

Neither had their best performances, but we were really on form last night and it's hard to play to your best against a team that's closing you down at every opportunity and giving you no time on the ball.

Imo Puncheon would sort out our left winger dilemma, because although Lallana has done well there so far this season, it's pretty obvious that he's not a winger judging by the fact that he cuts inside all the time. If we're to utilise him more efficiently in the squad, we should play a flat central midfield of 2 with Lallana playing just behind Lambert and two wingers.

Easter i'm not as certain of, but when i've seen him play he's looked pretty good. He was played on his own up front last night, which is difficult for any player (although Lambert managed it just fine), but he dropped back to support the midfield well and played the ball around nicely. We should at least look into him, scout him on saturday and ask after him, because he could be a very good player in this squad imo if we can't get the likes of Jackson and Barnard up front.

I'm not sure if this is going to be taken as a positive association, but I've always thought of Barnard as an Ormerod-esque player. Works hard, hassles defenders, and can score at this level. Listen, for 200k, you can't really argue! I'd welcome him onboard.

if he is good enough then its a no brainer, but if he is just a player that has hit a lucky streak goalscoring wise then we could end up with Saga Mark II.

Have you seen him play? If so be more specific....

Hello guys, have heard whispers about our interest in Swansea's Leon Britton. Skillful midfielder whose contract is up at the end of the season. Have read more concrete stuff that he's in discussions with Cardiff to sign a pre-contract agreement, but who knows. Would certainly be what we're after.

There's this lad, you might have heard of him, big fella, plays centre back and right back but in my opinion, the best right back at his current club.... Wayne Thomas. Sort of player that causes debate amongst fans, but in my opinion, he's our best defensive right back, he's got a decent cross on him. He made two or three really important clearances at MK on Wednesday. I really think he's our best right back and should be given a run there. HCDAJFU.

I'd like him more if he wasn't on such high wages and prone to moments of violent lunacy. I think he was possibly more deserving of a red card than Schneiderlin on Wednesday, accepting that he already had stud marks on his chest when he elbowed their guy.

I ****ing hope not, I dont think I have hated a player more than Richard Hughes.

He'd be great in this league even though he is a Pompey player of 8 years. I'd be happy if he signed as is exactly the type of player Saints need.

One drawback to signing him is that it is giving money to Pompey. ;)

We'll just pay like they do. They'll have gone bust before we have to actually pay.

I can't start a new thread as I'm not a registered member, but have been informed by my Pompey supporting friend that speculation on Pompey messageboards suggest that Richard Hughes could be on his way to us for 350k. Although a skate, would be a top midfielder in League 1 and would do a decent job in the Championship imo.

How did are scouting system let that Poole Town striker slip through and end up at Swindon.....Charles Austin.

Only signed to end of season...6'2" STRIKER 20 YEARS....Future prospect..Ex trainee at Reading.. Maybe Pards knows of him....Whilst at Poole had a few games for Bournemouth reserves because of embargo could not sign him.....

Not seen him play myself....

With open arms, he didn't leave under a cloud like some (kenwnye) and he's an absolute class above in this league and just what we need down the left hand side, Harding and Bale would be immense together.

Maybe we can send them Forecast back as a sweetner...

Bale's energy was impressive in the Championship so he would be great here now.

My Spuds chums tell me he is not popular at Spurs who have yet to win a league game with him in the side. Apparently the nearest he got was2-0 at Everton when he came on as sub - they drew 2-2.

If he goes anywhere on loan outside the premiership it will be Forest, there is not a chance in hell of him dropping any lower than that, oh and Spurs have won several times with him in the side by the way, West ham and Man City league games recently for starters, not to mention several league cup games and Burnley earlier in the season.

Probaly won't go to Forest now as they've got Nicky Shorey on loan for the rest of the season.
