am i being a bit optimistic? lol

Yes.

A bit of a disappointing draw IMHO.

Only good thing about it is that we're at home.

I guess it's a worse draw for Ipswich.

I hope we concentrate on the JPT and trying to nick a play-off place.

I'll get excited about the FA Cup when/if we're in the last 8.

Would have prefered a big team away.

I'm a diehard Saints fan down here in Aus. I travelled to the U.K for the first time last season and watched 2 draws and 5 losses including the 3rd round loss to Man United. I've sworn if/when the Saints make an FA Cup I will be there.

My plan for this year is simple..and probably stupid. I've placed $100 on us at 300/1 on Betfair to return $30,000. Meaning that if we make the final I can lay off to cover the cost of Flights and a Ticket. My question to everyone is what chances would I be to land a ticket? I am friends with a couple of season ticket holders but my bets are they will want to be there..I know It's not worth worrying about yet..but let me dream!

Keane set out to wind up Saints fans. Sounds like he was successful. Why give him the satisfaction of taking his bait?

The more people that try and goad and abuse him the happier he'll be.

Think about it.

We're just ordinary fans, whereas he was a professional footballer and is now a manager. If he wishes to indulge in petty mind games with us, then who is the smaller-minded one, us or him?

I genuinely believe that although it was several years ago now, it still rankles him that Saints thrashed United 6-3 and he was sent off. If he really does harbour any lingering resentment about that, then this is a grudge match for him and if his team loses to us, it will hurt him more than if it were another team. The match does not have any resonance with any of our players, since none survive in our team from that time, but we the fans who were there and Keane could rake over the coals again. If it makes the atmosphere more hostile at the match, that would be to our advantage.

But if Saints make the final and lose, you will lose the bet and you'd already have brought the tickets and flight over here.

Hopefully they do the pricing for this game exactly the same as the Luton game, £10 for season ticket holders, £15 for non, and £18 on the day, with a decent away following and opening all parts of the ground we'd probably hit 20k+.

Despite Ipswich being 19th in the Championship I think we will lose 2-0.

they have only lost once in their last 13 games, winning away at Cardiff and Blackpool.

But going into the final I'll be standing the Saints to win $30,000 so assuming the odds will probably be $1.20 to $6 in the final I can take $5000 worth of bets on Southampton, which is all profit, minus the original $100. So that way if we make the final everything will be paid for. Again highly unlikely!

Still you'll keep some bookie or other from starving for another day or so. Very well done.

Wanted a big team but will take this.

I'm just glad we're at home - the next game I could make it to St Mary's for was that day vs Swindon. Had we been drawn away I wouldn't have been able to make it to St Mary's until February. :-)

With my missus as a Norwich fan, she now has every reason to come to MY club and support MY team!

This is absolutely one of the best possible draws we could, a team (in realistic terms) only a few very small steps above us. At home as well. I also feel whereas Sunderland players responded (only initially) to that horrible tvvat Keane's bullying, threatening, sombre, over-bearing, intimidating and negative nature, Ipswich players seem to have thoroughly rejected his awful methodology...which hopefully will work in Southampton's favour.

Trouble, for me personally, is I will now have a an emotional involvement above and beyond just wanting Saints to win - which will make it all the more sweet when we win, but cannot even consider losing this one.

Yes, the Irishman was a very good talent, however he is as far from anything that could be considered a 'good person' as you could imagine around football anyway. His criminal, revenge foul that time is possibly, if not probably the worst thing I've seen in football when you realise it was 100% pre-meditated and then added to that Keane's total lack of remorse.

Ipswich is a great club, with a lot of good people and and some good fans. They just made the most unforgivable decision hiring the volatile ex-Celtic/United thug.

We'll win - he'll get fired.

Now the cherry on the cake will be when Ipswich fire Keane!!
