Elliot Ward - The Story!

Afternoon.

Just sent a cheeky little text.

Obviously owe a big apology, informed my *source* we signed another CB and I can not see Ward happening.

The phone call ended with;

"all seriousness, Ward has signed"

Not to confident after todays movement, still being told but will have to wait and see :(

this makes no sense, pardew said he wanted 2 new signings, one midfielder and one other ?? (after fonte deal) so surely we are just waiting on stocky ?? ;)

Unless they got a good deal on DS ?

Hopefully pardew is tugging our chain and we have another 6 signings to push through ?

maybe we have mroe than one target for each of the positions thathe has highlighted. Makes total sense to not put all of your eggs into one basket - perhaps that was Burley's method - so Ward or Seaborne, Danns or Stock etc. Or as you have put it we are signing shed loads of players.

Wonder when some will go out the door? I'd prefer us not to go back to the days of hoarding lots of **** players in squads of 40.

Maybe the Ward signing is being saved to announce with another one - a big suprise double signing........................ nothing to base this on though.

maybe as he is out of contract in the summer we are waiting till then so as to get him for free?

my biggest worry Chez. Its not just the wages either. They, the ones who have no chance of playing are demotivated and can bring a bad feeling to the over all squad.

As am I. He will still rubbish in that game. Do you not agree that he was rubbish?

I think we were pretty rubbish that day...

- Putting a positive spin on that it was because the mighty Seaborne contained us

- Putting a negative spin on it we were rubbish and still scored 3 against that plum Seaborne

It's a bit of both is the reality...

I'm not saying he is rubbish, just that IMO (and having just looked, the opinion of Exeter fans) he was rubbish that day.

The picture I saw of him which one of our fellow forum members put up made me think that Seaborne is quite a tall quite chunky defender like Jaidi which is Good in a way and it will be interesting to see how he does in the first few games as well ;)!

COYR!

Ward agreed a deal with Saints, Ward said goodbye to his Coventry team mates and was at the point where he was awaiting instructions on where to join up with his new team mates (Saints), then he was told the deal was off after Nicola Cortese backed out on Ward's proposed move at the eleventh hour.

Thaks for the update MB - did it say why in the Echo ?

No but get the gist that Seabourne was preffered over Ward.

"However, rather than Ward, Saints instead announced the capture of Exeter City centre back Dan Seaborne yesterday morning...............

...........Saints would not comment on where they were with a deal for Ward".

As it says here' date=' Seaborne would certainly be on lower wages. Perhaps Pardew chose him over Ward so that he could sign another player on higher wages?[/quote']

Those were my thoughts too.....seems very strange to have allowed it to go that far before pulling out though! On the face if it doesn't seem we handled it well.
