Middlesboro, Leicester and Pompey

What a bunch of joke clubs.

Mboro and Leciester got 12-13k today and the Skates got just over 11k. Bear in mind Mboro were playing a Prem team too!

Absolutely disgusting. They should all be in the third tier.

Nothing particularly wrong with Leicester IMO. 12-13k for a match between two average CCC teams is nothing to get the pitch forks out over.

I'd be more disgusted at Wigan TBH.

Aye, they aren't the worse. I've been to aways v Leicester a few times though and their support is generally rubbish.

These attendances should be remembered by the FA, so if by some fluke these teams get to Wembley , then they can say 'fooook you, you have no supporters, heres 10,000 tickets, the rest are going to Man Utd/Chelsea/Arsenal/etc..'

I am impressed, Dulldays:

I beginning to believe that you are more than likely one of the thickest scummers who has ever posted on here

You are now the thickest person to post on two entirely different messageboards.

Well done you!

Wasn't our attendance alot worse than Pompeys at times last year?

Shock horror. Fans in not turning up when team is dog ****e horror. Get over ourselves.

It's time you realised that being better to a similar club a few miles down the road is, and should be, the most important thing in your life.

Have a long hard think about what you posted.

As usual, Hopkins, you are spot on.

These sort of threads come from such a stupid, moronic, short-sighted, thuggish, idiotic place.

It is no real suprise that it is Dulldays leading the idiotic bating on the pompey forum, really.

It is two football clubs from two towns which are not very far apart from one another, and, lets face it, two teams that the whole rest of the country really couldnt give a toss about.

But for fortune we grew up as Saints fans. We could easily have been pompey fans. Or bradford fans. Or boca juniors fans. Or not like football at all.

Nothing seperates saints fans from pompey fans or any other football fans. Some are smart, some are stupid. Some are passive, some are violent. Some are passionate, some less so.

To genuinely, genuinely believe that there is something better, more passionate, more noble or more impressive about cheering on the red side rather than the blue side is so stupid its almost impossible to believe. If Yeovil Town won the premiership in five years time you wouldn’t be able to go anywhere in this country without bumping into people wearing Yeovil shirts.

Attendance at football matches is probably worked out like this:

(Division the club is in) x (Games won in a row) x (Last season’s final position) x (People who live within 20 miles) x (How big the opposition is)

over

(People who dont like football) x (People who dont like the weather) x (People who cant afford the tickets)

The point I am making, basically, is that Delldays is a knob. And most other people on this thread. You f*cking idiots.

It's a perfectly fair (and some might even dare to venture, interesting) point to note that there are clubs in the lower leagues that are much "bigger" than a lot of clubs in the Premiership. In fact, there seems to be a preponderance of "small" clubs in the Premiership.

That was what the thread was about but you seem to want to make a different point. Which is fine.

I appreciate the time you have devoted to my thread though.

I love you. You're the one.

I have no doubt about us being a bigger club than Pompey. I also have no problem in hating Pompey.

However to seriously believe that the attendances of the clubs like Pompey/Boro/Wigan etc should be much better is nothing but boring. Especially as our fans are not exactly as awesome as we like to make out.

A fact of life is that clubs doing well will bring in the crowds. Whatever division they are in.

We are doing well and the feel good factor is even more evident for us because we've been so ****e in the past that the first sign of success again and everyone comes flooding back. Personally I find it actually quite embarrasing that now were doing quite well that we can bring in some crowds. Anybody who boycotted us in the last few seasons because they thought we were **** or because of Rupert Lowe should seriously be ashamed of themselves now they are crawling back into the stadium and even more ashamed if they are one of the people in the hundreds of threads on the site slating Pompey and other clubs for there shocking attendances.

If you want to support the club go to the game whenever we play. Not when we are doing well. And if you decide not too (Which yes is up to you) then realise you have no right to slate any other clubs attendance when ours is on the up.

Threads like this are ill informed and boring. Seriously, you should realise the simple fact in life that if a club is doing ****e, its not going to bring in the crowds. Clubs mentioned in the opening post are doing guff and therefore are not bringing in crowds.

When we were drawing in shocking crowds last season, did people start threads like this slating our selves or did we all convince ourselves we were doing the right thing by not turning up? We were in the same shoes once.

Get over it.

It's about comparisons, you boring and ill informed individual ;)

I hardly think Leicester are doing guff. Middlesbrough - 13k against a top Prem team?! We would have sold out that match.

If you think there is no point talking about this then fine. Some would say that attendances are an interesting part of football - indeed they are commercially significant in both the long and short term. This thread was not about Saints, which is why I put it in here; it's about attendances in general and the number of terrible ones in the Cup on Saturday which I happen to think were a shame.

I can happily understand people not bothering if it's £50 a ticket. Wigan v Hull was £15 for adults, yet 5,000 people turned up. That must be a worry to those clubs and to the FA.

When we were drawing in 'shocking' crowds last season, I must have missed that?

How many people have bothered to come up with a theoretical maths equation to argue against you?

Anyway, you're welcome. I love you too.

Or, people can just be allowed to attend whatever matches they want, whenever they want, without being judged or critisised...? Too reasonable?

Is there something inherently noble about attending lots of football matches? Does it make you a better person? Does it win you the Nobel Prize? Does it get you into heaven? I dont get the fascination with the concept.
