Chris Morgan from Sheff Utd would be good.

He would be good in so far as he would kill or maime the opposition centre forward if thats what you are looking for.

No thanks

Would prefere a younger, hungrier player than a journeyman looking for a fat pay cheque

That's pretty generalistic, look how well Perry is doing...

Would you class Perry as a money grabber though?

Not imo

Where as big Sol is clearly only intrested in the cash

Fair enough, but your post is misleading then, as i'd also prefer a hungry journeyman to a disinterested younger player ;)

I hope AP has a contingency - i think (from the tone of interviews) that Preston had agreed for Trottman to stay (while Irvine was managerr), now the new manager may have insisted a return.

Lets hope AP has a plan B prepared or we are stuffed.

One loan player goes and we are stuffed....lol

First over reaction post of the new year perhaps?

I don't get it. Who would pay for products on the internet by writing out a cheque? Paypal surely would be a quicker and indeed safer option.

Au contraire, sending off a cheque is much safer than Paypal.

Well if there is no plan to get another CB which is unlikely I think we would be stuffed

What an idiot. E-mail me one this morning then... ;)

The cheque is already in the post mate.

When I popped it in the post box I bumped into Ali al-Mirage who was posting out Pompey's wage cheques.

May have something to do with them getting rid of Irvine.

Exactly what I thought although it was generally beleived he would need to go back to Preston anyhow. The new manager will want to take a look and weigh up his options. If Trotman does not cut the mustard we may still see him back if we put in a decent offer.

Aaron Martin is probably good enough and reckon he will play v Luton

Did he not play for Eastleigh in a qualifying round ?

My thoughts, too. after I saw he was named as a sub. recently.

He has been at Eastleigh, and Luton are a Conference side so there's not so much difference, and we have to debut him SOMETIME !

Better than having to put him in against a good side in L1.

Think he's cup-tied.

The relevant section of the Football League's JPT rules and regs .

7.1

A Player shall be considered bona fide if he is registered by his Club, in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations. No Player may play for more than one Club in the Competition in any one Season.

Logically, the 'qualifying' games for a given tournament are not actually part of the tournament they are qualifying for. The clue is in the word 'qualify'.

That said, I am assuming the FA don't bother themselves with trivialities such as logic so I guess in the eyes of the FA it will be classed as the same competition.

But if it's the same competition then why call the early rounds 'qualifiers' rather than...ahem....round 1, round 2, round 3 ... (you get my drift...perhaps...)

Presumably because we would be at about round 15 by the final. Also I guess that the original FA Cup only had a few rounds and at some stage they started to work backwards. Given that any club that plays in the Cup can win it (theoretically) it is clearly the same competition.

At the risk of sounding pious and unpragmatic, I would be gutted if that budgie thug played for us.

Watched most of his games and felt he did very well for us. Is a shame to lose him. If we have Ollie coming back to take his place then we can kiss our playoff push goodbye in my opinion. Perry and Jaidi will not be able to play every game left as some are 3 games a week. They will get knackered and probably injured by doing that. No offence to Ollie but he is not a player who will improve us. We did the kids thing last year and it failed miserably. We are no longer in a position where we have to make do with what we got. Hopefully Pardew has someone lined up. For some reason i would not be surprised to see Sol Campbell join us. Someone i was speaking to last night said they heard a rumour. But he was ****ed out his nut so chances are it was bull****.

What do you mean fall apart?

I cant see us losing to Luton and MK Dons in the cups.

But not sure we will get more points in the second half of the season than we did in the first in the League

Almost as bad news as Trotman's loss of form over the second half of his loan.

I have a bad feeling our season is about to fall apart.

one really poor game against Brighton and then dropped, not sure there was a huge drop in form. He played pretty well in the recent games by the way.
