Scummer Posted 30 December, 2009 Share Posted 30 December, 2009 Right, just been asked to organise a stag do for my brother. Problem is it's in a months' time so pretty short notice. Need to stay fairly local (within a hour, hour and a half) as my wife will be eight months pregnant and I need to be within reach. Most of the people going will be late 30s with a couple older than that and a couple younger. What ideas do people have? Anyone been on any good stag do's in the local area? Scummer Posted 30 December, 2009 Author Share Posted 30 December, 2009 Pub golf sounds good. Probably need to do some sort of 'activity' in the day as well, along the lines of go-karting, paintballing etc. What towns/cities do people recommend? I'm thinking maybe Bournemouth, start Saturday morning and come back Sunday.

Did consider that, but it's looking like the 6th Feb and Saints are away that day. Other option was England Wales in the 6 Nations, but don't think we'd be able to get tickets. miserableoldgit Posted 30 December, 2009 Share Posted 30 December, 2009 I hear that there is a soon-to-be vacant run-down spooky building in P**rtsmouth that could make a good venue for an interesting ghost hunting stag night.

aintforever Posted 30 December, 2009 Share Posted 30 December, 2009 You can fly to Amsterdam in an hour and a half.
Scummer Posted 3 January, 2010 Author Share Posted 3 January, 2010 What's Bristol like these days? Went to Uni there, but that was more than 10 years ago now. Whiteladies Road was always good. Has anyone ever been to the karting place at Avonmouth?
scott_saints Posted 3 January, 2010 Share Posted 3 January, 2010 You can fly to Amsterdam in an hour and a half. A fair bit less than an hour and a half n' all. We were quite dissapointed to be told our drinks were being taken away shortly after we'd started drinking.

amsterdam Posted 3 January, 2010 Share Posted 3 January, 2010 Gp by train next time. Much better way to get there IMO. Takes forever though? 3 hours from London to Paris, then 2 hours to Brussels, change and another couple of hours to Amsterdam? But I do agree - I love the train compared to flying.. Whereabouts in CH are you? In response to the OP - what about going to the races? Goodwood is not far from you? Followed by an evening at Bognor Regis Butlins? (I may be 20 years out of date here!) Scummer Posted 22 January, 2010 Author Share Posted 22 January, 2010 I'm going to keep bumping this until someone who lives in Bristol replies to me. I'm thinking the docks area where the Watershed is, then up Park Street and Whiteladies Road as the evening goes on. It's a long time since I lived in Bristol though, so I don't know what places are good these days.
bungle Posted 22 January, 2010 Share Posted 22 January, 2010 Don't know Bristol that well, but know people that do (or Wilko might spot this thread). I will try and find some info out. Or I could just recommend Bath instead. Then I could give you advice.

bungle Posted 22 January, 2010 Share Posted 22 January, 2010 Cheers Bungle. You must go out in Bristol sometimes, it's only down the road? Wilko lives there does he? He used to. I've barely ever been out in Bristol. Usually just gigs. I know a couple of good pubs, but not really enough to base a stag do on!
