70's Mike Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 As i have proved with many stupid questions i am an old fool when it comes to technical matters. My son (14) hasw bought an IPod Touch but we cannot connect it to our Wireless Network. We have an Orange Livebox with a WEP number but I am told by Apple that we need a WPA number to connect his ipod. Does that make sense to anyone and if so can someone give this idiot a guide on what i need to do to get this thing working because his mother,my wife, is giving me real grief because i am lost
Al de Man Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 WEP and WPA are two security standards used on wireless networks and both come in a number variations. The iPod Touch is renowned for not working very well with the older WEP security. I don't know anything about the Orange Livebox, but see if you can change the wireless security on that to the more modern and secure WPA. You'll also need to change the wireless settings on any other computers to WPA, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Son of Bob Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 On our Orange live box you need to press one of the buttons on the back when you're connecting a new wireless device. (I think it's the 2 button)
bognor regis pete Posted 29 December, 2009 Posted 29 December, 2009 it's the number 1 button on the back of the livebox the wirelss button will flash for about 10 mins and will pair your touch. if you ever reboot your livebox you will need to pair your touch again by preesing the number 1 button again
70's Mike Posted 29 December, 2009 Author Posted 29 December, 2009 Thanks got it working but it seems very sensitive ie he needs his bedroom door open for it to connect , even though X Box works ok with door shut.
Saintandy666 Posted 30 December, 2009 Posted 30 December, 2009 We have wep(64 bit I believe), and works fine with my ipod touch
