JustMike Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Oh do give over, Thomas will not start at RB whilst James (or Murty) is available to play there. Connolly and Lambert in attack as usual and Lallana is out,Papa to take his place, Wotton in midfield ummm he did v Leeds
JustMike Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Concord of circumstances because Morgan was out James moved forward into midfield, thus not being available to play at RB. yeah because we had no other midfielders did we
martel Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Personally i think this is the next hardest game to leeds. They are direct and physical. I will be glad if we get a point. Anything else is a bonus I have to agree, I would settle for a point as well, a tough game ahead.
mcjwills Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 have a good boxing day at colchester everyone I'm hoping to be out of the league in 2010 so we will not be able to play them on December 26th next year.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 yeah because we had no other midfielders did we Not ones Pardew trusts in centre -mid.We have a lot of players but very few of them are in the picture.Just like strikers in theory we have 4 or 5,but only Connolly,Lambert and Papa are of any interest as starters.Big effective, small first team squad. It's gonna get pruned. 6 out, 2 or 3 in would be my prediction.
Mr Saints Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Biggest game of the season so far and will also be one of the toughest. 3 points and we will be real contenders for a play off place.
derry Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Adam pretty much hoping to be fit for tomorrow. I wish they would stop using him in such a narrow way, he was so much more effective in the five games where he was coming in from wide and losing his marker. He was also able to be more effective defensively. It is very difficult to be effective when caught up in the midfield melee we are creating by being so narrow.
Mr X Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 LIke others will be happy with a point, looks doubtful though
captainchris Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 James was available last week and who played at right back?... Wayne Thomas. And he did a pretty good job of it too I reckon. +1 James is no right back..
Psycrow Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 I wasn't paying much attention, but I'm sure Sky Sports just said the match was off
Window Cleaner Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 I wasn't paying much attention, but I'm sure Sky Sports just said the match was off Chesterfield- Rotherham is off
Psycrow Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Chesterfield- Rotherham is off I'm sure I heard "At home to Southampton" and then mentioning the Oldham game as both being off... but could have misheard. Can't find anything about it elsewhere
Matthew Le God Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 I'm sure I heard "At home to Southampton" and then mentioning the Oldham game as both being off... but could have misheard. Can't find anything about it elsewhere It would be on both Colchester and Saints website if that were the case and it is not.
SuperSAINT Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Think I heard Colchester have only lost 2 games in their last 18. This is going to be an incredibly difficult game. I’d take a draw. A win would probably be our best result of the season.

Spudders Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 we always win 3-1? lol 22/1 on sky bet! I like dem odds

Under Weststand Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 (edited) Not 100% sure about today, got a nagging bad feeling. But heart over head & gone for a 2-1 win Saints. I'd go for - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Bart - - - Thomas Trottman Jaidi Harding Waigo James Schneiderlin Hammond Lallana - - - - - - - - - - - -Lambert Edited 28 December, 2009 by Under Weststand

kpturner Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Why not give Mellis a go on the left? I often play him there on FIFA10 in the event of a tactical emergency. If it works on FIFA10 then it has to work in real life doesn't it?
Under Weststand Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Dan Harding, so good they named him twice. Oh dear should have proof read 1st Have altered to suit.
.comsaint Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 We will out-score them! 2-3 away win. COYS!

Except that at least you could earn a living from snooker.

Iowsaintsfan Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Id have KD back even if he cant kick properly get someone like trottman to take goal kicks, think we might need his shot stopping today
DAZZER82 Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 lallana is out injured today, pardew said he didnt think he would be avaliable for today!!!
Window Cleaner Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 lallana is out injured today, pardew said he didnt think he would be avaliable for today!!! a few posters seem to think otherwise. A dead leg is not easy to recover from in a few hours, depends how hard he got hit I suppose. It could be that we have seen the last of Lallana, probably not though.
THEVMAN Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 lallana is out injured today, pardew said he didnt think he would be avaliable for today!!! Dont worry he is fit.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Dont worry he is fit. I certainly hope so, how come that there is absolutely no teams news on the OS 45 minutes before kick off!!
DAZZER82 Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Dont worry he is fit. i hope ur right would be a big loss, the way he has been playing!!

Window Cleaner Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 New Year (almost). Same old sheite OS - unfortunately. Very disappointing highlights from the Exeter game as well.Well not the highlights themselves but rather the distinct lack of quantity.
SNSUN Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 We need a win to keep the play-off push going, but Colchester are in a great run of their own. I'd very happily take a draw here. 1-1.

We'll concede early. Then equalise midway through the first half. 1-1 HT. We'll take the lead 15 mins into the 2nd half - only for Colchester to level on the hour mark. Several near misses will entail for both sides - before we sneak the points in the 81st minute - thanks to goal machine Rickie Lambert. 3-2 away win. Happy New Year to all thanks very much!
Toadhall Saint Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Tough tough game today. Want to see us line up as 4.5.1 it gives us the extra man when defending and the flexibility to go to 4.3.3 when attacking. So for me Connolly on the bench (still haven't made my mind up if we play better with him starting in a 4.4.2). AL and Papa left and right respectively.
Tractor_Saint Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 no underwear .com ok Lallana is out warming up with the team right now though!

S-Clarke Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 4-5-1 it is Saints: Bialkowski, Thomas, Trotman, Jaidi, Harding, James, Schneiderlin, Hammond, Antonio, Lallana, Lambert. Subs: Davis, Perry, Wotton, Gobern, Holmes, Papa Waigo, Connolly. Mills must have really upset Pard's then, replaced by Holmes on the bench...
Weston Saint Posted 28 December, 2009 Posted 28 December, 2009 Dont worry he is fit.Good to hear. Thanks for the update.

I think its fair to say AP taking Mills off Saturday was a tad more than just tactical then !

Perhaps Papa has problems with the cold, happens

Good to see Holmes on the bench, would like to see him get a run out. I still firmly believe that he's a good player and deserves to at least be on the bench more often. He's probably on there as a precaution for Lallana though, seeing as he's just had a dead leg an' all. ---------------------Bart---------------------- -----Thomas--Trotman--Jaidi--Harding---------- Antonio--James--Schneiderlin--Hammond--Lallana -------------------Lambert---------------------

Glad about the formation - I would have started with Papa tho'. As to Mills - maybe a hard lesson, maybe not, only AP can answer that.
