Agreed dune

some of the complete brain dead kids in the Northam think they rule the place

I have been all over the country (and others) watching saints in various leagues

stood in the Milton in my time (what they would have been in the family centre)

I used to go to the northam when SMS first opened and really enjoyed it

now I just cringe when I see the yooof band the back boards to (generally) the same 4 songs and give out a many nescafe hand shake gestures to the away fans as possible

How many times, we have more than 4 songs!! You've been corrected on numerous occasions on this matter, would you like a list of our songs? You are becoming dull, delldays.

Also I'd like to say that I notice the songs we sing take off easier, and sound better, with decent back board banging. I agree though that when the banging is sh!t, it's very sh!t.

I know how many sings are sung at games. I was not being specific. The atmosphere is very limited and original from the Northam not even close to being anything like the Milton was. But generally the same handful of songs gets churned out (badly) whilst a bunch of teenagers (who think they are nails) bang the back board to quickly

if we are lucky, we might get treated to

" we're the northam over here"

exciting !!!!!

Well unfortunately not many of us teenagers experienced your fabled Milton, we can't help our age. I'm not a crazy back board banger and I'm certainly not 'ard as nails, but you seem to be tarring us all with the same brush anyway. You obviously weren't there when the whole ground sang OWTS really slowly, allegedly bringing some to tears. You have obviously been to about 2 games (not being specific) and not been impressed by our "4 songs".

Going tomorrow delldays? Have you been to any away games? Our away support is terrific and the atmosphere is generally great. I wish the atmosphere in the Northam was like that of what I've seen at the majority of away games this season.

No. Not going tomorrow as I have been working over this holiday period and working tomorrow day.

Have been to plenty of away games. Even home games are really away games for me.

And it is not "my fabled Milton" it was a cracking stand to watch football from and have a cracking laugh

even the Archers when it was seating was good.... Hell, the Northam when SMS first opened when there was far less yoof there was a good laugh

now, generally it makes you cringe

I can imagine it was a cracking stand to watch football from. Not sure where I sat when I went as a young lad, around the half way line I think. The Dell was brilliant and I'm not taking that away from you.

After going to most of the away games this season and seeing their lack of vocal support, it makes me grateful we have the Northam. No matter how cringeworthy you reckon it is, at least we have some fans who sing and shout, more than most teams in this league.

Why do you think the slightly older folk migrated to the Itchen North..

Northam got "sh1t"

When I look around the Northam, 4 out of every 5 people I see is one of the "older folk" you mention.

Indeed, in the seats immediately around mine there is not one person who looks under 40 (except me).

When blocks 1-3 were open it was better than the Northam. I stand in the Northam/Kingsland corner now and it's still decent, but you don't get the atmosphere with the away fans in the Northam.

For a one off game where 1-3 are opened, there's never any atmosphere over there anyway because it's just filled with people that don't usually come or have bought tickets on the day so get put in there?

If blocks 1-3 were to be re-opened regularly and all the people that used to populate the Itchen North came back, the atmosphere at St Mary's would be amazing again.

Don't think he was offiside when he slotted away his chance for our third.

It's called irony mate, you know a ironic chant much like "big nose, he's got a f-ing big nose" we used to sing at Le Tiss!

It's meant in jest, a bit of fun between fans and player!

100% correct there moooosh, we used to sit in block 2, a good 10-15 of us, i'm now in block 4, a couple are in block 5, a few over the kingsland and a couple in the kingsland corner! Re-open the corner to original season ticket holders first and the atmosphere will improve dramatically!

Some gently sarcastic ribbing of a striker is serious business, you know, as is a mild bit of pi*s-taking of the 10,000 folk who've suddenly appeared after sensing that "happy days are here again".

Very thin-skinned, some folk!

the return of the 'come to be entertained' always dilutes the atmosphere. The Northam were not vocal today, and the Itchen vry anonymous.good to see happy faces at full time though.

Don't see why the 'come to be entertained' should dilute the atmosphere, after all its not like the 20k that are coming each week were replaced by them, think it was probably a lot to do with waaaaaaaaaaaay to much xmas cheer ;-)
