I have never seen him play, but judging by most people's reaction on this thread he is rubbish so I think we should release him on a free, save some wages and try to get someone brilliant in at LB.......maybe Hingingbottom? He can play left back and I am sure he has unfinished business here that he would like to resolve before retiring?

The Exeter City commentaters were a bit surprised as they were singing Mill's praises ...... but as mentioned else where they surmised that maybe he wasn't doing the job Pardew expected of him and the shape of the team suffered.

I would like to see Holmes given a chance ... maybe the FA Cup might be a good time. The uncertainty of the Trotman, Antonio and Mellis loan situation could force AP's hand anyway. What is the situation with Mclaggon's comeback/loan form. Any news?

Mills wasn't doing the job Pardew asked him to do, simple as that.

Pards was visibly angry at Fish for not getting tight to his man. He was allowing the opposition too much room and AP wasn't happy about it. Switching formation and bringing Wotton on was the right thing to do, you can't argue that.

On a side note, does anyone remember a similar scenario during the 3-2 home defeat by Bristol Rovers? Mills came off the bench that game and Rovers' winning goal came from Mills allowing the opposing player too much space. Their right-winger cut inside, JM backed off and the rest is history!

Having said all that, I do rate Mills and I believe he's got a lot of potential. He's keen to get forward, has a decent left peg and has age on his side. He could develop into a decent little player in time but don't be surprised to see him leave on loan in January though.

Yes, remember it well. I mentioned on here how poor he was in that game, how he looked totally un-interested and wasn't listening when Harding was telling him to give him some protection......and I got slagged off something chronic by a couple of posters who wouldn't have it !!

Glad you remember it the same as me :)

The pair of you may remember it the same, but you're both incorrect; it was Dan Harding that backed off and allowed Williams too much space. Just watched the goal on youtube to make sure and Mills is backing up for Harding, so very unfair to blame Mills for the goal.

Subbed because before he came on we were totally in control of the match and after he was subbed we were totally in control of the match. In between, whilst he was on the pitch, we fell apart into a total shambles (against 10 men).

The goal came from a corner (which bart should have made more effort to save) Nothing to do with Mills.

He was brought on to stretch the game, by what i can make of it.

Then he goes onto to genuinely suggest Danny "Hingingbottom". Not only is that not how you spell his name but to seriously think a regular in a Premier League side would think he has unfinished business at a League One club is just plain retarded.

Well done.

I think there's a chance either Fish will be consigned to the reserves for sometime, or he'll go entirely. If he's unable to act out AP's wishes on the pitch then he'll not survive here much longer. Winners cannot be sentimental and cannot carry people who are not shaping up.

He's 19 years old...

Err, so what? If he's not doing what AP wants then he'll not last long. I have to say I have not seen enough from him to convince me that he's good enough at LM frankly as he adds little to the play and we cannot afford to carry players that are not up to the mark. A player like Jason Puncheon (left side midfielder at MK Dons) is far better in all departments and would be fantastic for us either as a starter or coming off the bench.

If that's the story of what happened then I would not expect Mills to get another chance very soon. This is a serious business and there's no room for sentiment, something that the ardent fan often forgets.

You do know he was a first teamer for S****horpe who got promoted last season, don't you?

And he has looked decent whenever he has come on - he is still only 19! Thank f*ck we didn't write Lallana off at the same age, eh!

Comparing Lallana to Mills even when Lallana was 19 is quite ridiculous. I think you need a very different analogy !

Mills and Thomson were 'stand outs' in their last year with the U18s, the same as Lallana and McGoldrick were, a year and a bit earlier. So maybe not that bad an analogy.
