Morgan Schneiderlin

Why do you think he can't score for us then ? he's been a regular for two seasons now.

Because he's not and never has been a goal scoring attacking midfielder.

He's a composed, ball playing, creative midfielder. He likes to sit and pass the ball with the occasional burst forward but he leaves the box to box stuff to Hammond. He's the best passer of a football i've seen in this league.

I don't think you can expect much more from him. He maybe goes missing in games occasionally but he's improved his phsyical side and yes i'm sure he'd love to score a few goals but thats not what he's in the team for. He makes us pass the ball, long and short, and gives us a composure and touch that no other midfielder gives his team in this league. He's in the team to run the midfield, he does that imo, not to be the all action box to box midfielder. Thats what Hammond does.

I honestly don't understand how people do not rate him. He was clearly a class above anyone else on the pitch today. He broke up some of there play today and started our own on most occasions. He pinged the ball 50/60 yards a fair few times to our wingers and often starts moves by passing the ball into Lamberts feet.

someone posed to a question a while ago to the morgan doubters..

when morgan has he ball...just imagine the difference if it was wotton on the ball

Also if he had a couple of decent wide players he would look a different player probably

Watched him very closely today.

He did a couple of good things but he did more wrong things and I have to say he remains massively over-rated, I stand by my original opinion.

did you not try my `picture Wotton in posession scene' then? What is it that is missing from his game?

he tackles, runs with the ball, controls it, passes it and rarely gives it away.

he was okay today, he made some key tackles and really got stuck in. TBF it was very low performance from the whole team and fatigue certainly seemed to be a factor that affected everyone.

The team appeared unfit to me should have taken charge in the last twenty minutes but they did not

Morgan's a fantastic player. He came here as a raw midfielder with goals under his belt. By his own admission that's taken a back seat as he's been working on the physical side of his game with clear improvements. He's still young. The naysayers should give him a break. He just needs a goal after which there'll be no looking back for him. He'll be my couple of quid for 1st scorer for the next few games. I predict he'll be the subject of bids at the end of the season & I hope NC & AP agree to tell any suitors to get stuffed.

A class above anyone else on the pitch today again. That despite the fact he was berating the ref for 90 minutes.

Probably can't understand the p*ss poor quality of the refereeing in our League.

I know he thinks he gets a lot of bad treatment from the hackers and choppers

that abound in League 1.

Nick, that is simply not true. He gave the ball away in a terrible position in the 2nd half which darn well nearly ended in a goal for them - it was very slovenly. And what about that crossfield ball in front of his own area v Exeter last week?

Everyone makes mistakes but when he does they are in bad positions.

Not looking to be confrontational here, I would like him to be the real deal but he aint...not yet anyway!

4 more votes to take the lead in man of match poll

And how many people who voted were actually at the game.

I sometimes smile when I read people arguing on the "after match threads" about the quality of the performance when they weren't even at the game. St Landrew was at it the other day basing his opinions after listening to the game on the radio and actually contradicting someone who was there. Priceless.

I agree he was OK but nothing special.

The whole team were inept for many parts of the game including Midfield particularly

I agree. He is too inconsistent. I would ship him out with James in January if I could guarantee a better replacement.

Morgan is 20

lol well that makes all the difference then :D

Even so, I would still have him in our side everytime, he does so much of the leg work that goes unnoticed, just because he isnt making runs through the centre or scoring for fun doesnt mean he isnt doing what he has been asked to do well.

my mom yesterday was Harding, i thought he played well even when the brought on pace. Morgan would have been 3rd behind Perry yesterday. As someone else said, the whole team was inept, bad passes etc. Morgan did more right than wrong and he is still young.

Did he not make a great run towards the end of yesterdays game? Unfortunately he only had Paterson to pass to in the box.

Our midfield's problem is the same every match, they're having to nursemaid the defence. The ground they have to cover must be fantastic. It's a pity that Sky (or the BBC) don't have the little distance counter (don't know how they do it, must be some sort of GPS tracking I suppose) that Canal + have, they put up the distance covered by players in a game. I remember Alonso used to get up around 14/15 kilometres in a game.Just running 15 km in an hour isn't easy, imagine having to twist and turn and kick the ball and tackle as well. 15k in 90 minutes is a lot.

agree with this 100% its noticeable that MS and DH look more "relaxed" when Jaidi is there. Would be good to see how they both play if we get another decent CB in.

I'd be very interested to hear your suggestions. There is not a CM in the league I'd swap him for.

Schneiderlin is our best footballer, I really don't understand how anyone can doubt him. He has a great first touch, best range of passing in the team and he get stuck in as much as anyone.

He's gone from being a luxury player who just pings the ball around to our most important midfielder over the last 18 months. I really hope we can keep hold of him if we don't get promoted this season, losing him would be a massive blow we wouldn't be able to replace him.

You can clearly see he has tried to make an effort to improve his physical side of the game and gets stuck in more this season.

His passing doesn't quite have the same impact as it did last year but I think we do miss him when he doesn't play, there were certainly a lot of players who were not as good as him Vs Luton.

Give him a break I say.

hes young and still a bit raw. in 5 or 6 years time he will be a top premier league player. you can just see that he has the natural ability and speed of thought that will take him to the top. hes got natural talent but for some reason people would rather see a headless chicken running around flying into tackles in midfield than somebody who plays a decent ball game. at times this season he has been a joy to watch, very much in the mould of xabi alonso

MS really does seem to split opinion more than any other player. I'm afraid at the moment I think he is over rated. I'm not saying he shouldn't get in the side but all this talk of best midfielder in the league IMO is nonsense. Pardew obviously rates him very highly and therfore I hope he can develop into a great player but right now if he left or got a long term injury I personally would not be as concerend as I would if we lost Lambert, Llanana or Jaidi. I am however intrigued as to why some of you rate him so highly and will make an extra effort at the next match to watch him closely and try to figure out what I am missing.

I really do not understand anyone who thinks Schneiderlin is a good player. He wouldnt get in a Premiership team. He would struggle in many champ sides as well. To improve SFC hes the sort of player that needs to be replaced.

What a stupid point, we're not in the Premiership, we're in League One. How many of our current players would walk straight into a Premier League team? Ridiculous.

1. We are in League One not the Prem.

2. He is only 20.

what a stupid point. Players in this league aren't good enough to play in premiership so does that make them all rubbish?

Lallana and Schneiderlin will end up in Premiership(or a major European countries top flight) at some point in their careers.

Nice one Mearsy, managed to hook a few fukwits with your subtle satire.

Keep up the good work!

I think Morgan is quality he can PASS the ball is always looking to switch the play his range of passing is very good good touch he can take the ball under pressure & he links up really well with lallana we need him in the team.

The most important thing is Pardew really rates him on a couple occasions he has been injured Pards has said how much we miss him and Pards seems to be a very good judge of a player.

He is still young and had to adapt to this league and I am sure he will get a better he has had 2 or 3 below par games but I think he brings a lot to the team he has TALENT and like Lallana he will blossom into a very good player
