Langleysaint Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Taking my seven year old for the first time today , can anybody recommend a Kid freindly pub so I can have a quick festive pint , Many thanks for any advice given.
Norm Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Try Wetherspoons, 2 in town. Red Lion bottom of town.
Vershinin Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Alfred is pretty good for kids if you wana stand outside
Massimo Osti Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Pitcher & Piano , Ocean Village let kids in till 6pm,
Massimo Osti Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Try Wetherspoons, 2 in town. Red Lion bottom of town. Spoons pubs only allow kids if you are having a meal.
Huffton Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Pensioners and Red Lion in Bedford Place both allow kids, as does the Grapes if your down the other end of town
Tractor_Saint Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Spoons pubs only allow kids if you are having a meal. And don't they limit the adult to one drink? Had that in the Spoons on the way back from Winchester the other day. When I have my kids we go to the Waterfront on Shamrock Quay - there's a little grass area for them to play on as well but no real 'playground'. However, there are usually a few other kids playing there.
Langleysaint Posted 26 December, 2009 Author Posted 26 December, 2009 Cheers everybody , thanks for the advice.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Don't bother with Wetherspoon's. I once got ID'd having a breakfast and an orange juice, and I'm 18. They are a bit funny like that.

You're a bigger man than me to be admitting that on here. It wasn't because you tried to order the double breakfast was it?
Saint_clark Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 You're a bigger man than me to be admitting that on here. It wasn't because you tried to order the double breakfast was it? Nothing wrong with a breakfast and an orange juice before heading off to work.
Badger Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Pensioners and Red Lion in Bedford Place both allow kids, as does the Grapes if your down the other end of town Didn't that close,or has someone saved it ?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 You're a bigger man than me to be admitting that on here. It wasn't because you tried to order the double breakfast was it? It was the Large Breakfast. It was 9 in the bloody morning! I get ID'd for everything. When I just turned 18 I got ID'd for a 15 rated game, and even now (nearly 19) I get ID'd buying scratchcards in Hamble Co-Op.
wessex saint Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Depends where you're parking. Encore next to the Mayflower is kid friendly - does lite bites ewc.. always a few Saints fans in there - (20 of us shortly) and a 10 mins walk to the ground
Langleysaint Posted 26 December, 2009 Author Posted 26 December, 2009 Thanks for all the responses , my mate is driving so we will park at bedford place and take the youngsters into one of the pubs around there , a quick pint for us while the kiddies are being occupied thanks to the wonders of the ds lite, thanks again.
Mattio Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 Can't make me own thread so I'll ask on here, is the Admiral Sir thingy opened today?
red robbo Posted 26 December, 2009 Posted 26 December, 2009 yes it is also the chapel arms is family friendly also the joshua tree(formally the coopers)
the boy from saints Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 I just wanted to bump this thread back up but add a beer garden to the list of requirements as it's supposed to be nice today and I fancy a sun drenched pre-match pint while my son plays on the DS! The Alfred's beer garden is a bit erm...concretey!
marc_saint Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 The Alex up off London Road allows kids i believe. And they've got table football in the bear garden and you can also get Jenga and such like from behind the bar.
The Majestic Channon Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 The Alex up off London Road allows kids i believe. And they've got table football in the bear garden and you can also get Jenga and such like from behind the bar. Bears playing table football, strange pub.

Blimey bear's in the garden and you can take someone called Jenga from behind at the bar! Is this a Carlsberg special?

Perhaps the bears are in cages and fight for the kids entertainment?!
harwellsaint Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 take my six year old most home games always a pint in the king alfred , no worries
the boy from saints Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 Cheers! Might check out the Waterfront today and the Alex next game.
Tractor_Saint Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 Cheers! Might check out the Waterfront today and the Alex next game. I take mine to the Waterfront (and I'll be there today with Mrs TS but not the kids as they aren't with us this weekend). There's a grass area to the left of the pub as you look at it which seems to be enough for my 5 and 7 year old to play on whilst we enjoy the delights of the outdoor BBQ and they attempt to climb the anchor
Huffton Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 Don't think the Alex lets kids in, although there is a few tables they can sit at out the front if the weathers ok.
Badger Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 The Waterfront if you want to sit outside. Sorry to ask,but as an out of towner, where is this ?

The Alfred's beer garden is a bit erm...concretey! The Waterfront as some have mentioned but a bit further away there is The Junction at St Denys. It has a garden and a childrens room (known to locals as The Myra Hindley suite...) Leave when the other Saints fan do and you should be in time for the match.
ericofarabia Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 Don't think the Alex lets kids in, although there is a few tables they can sit at out the front if the weathers ok. 2 seasons ago they wouldn't let my 16 year old daughter in the bar with us in The Alex, so they've either changed owners or attitude towards 'kids'.

If the weather is nice The Junction is a good shout if you were travelling by train.
Tractor_Saint Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 Sorry to ask,but as an out of towner, where is this ? Shamrock Quay - about 5 mins walk to St Marys and parking near... am sat here basking in the sun nice BBQ as well
