alki_in_korea Posted 26 December, 2009 Share Posted 26 December, 2009 Best- beating Totneham in the f.a cup 3rd round Worst- losing 3-0 to newcastle in 3rd/4th round justafter strachan had left. It started going down hill from that moment on. We fell away in the league after that after promising start and went down year after.
david in sweden Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Best: Watford (FA Cup Semi Final), Arsenal 3-2, Derby 3-2 (Play Offs) Worst: Watford 5-2, Tranmere 4-3, Leeds 4-3. Charlton 5-0 (Remember Jones in goal) Haven't seen a thread on this yet, if there has been I apoligies. Best /Worst ? ...for me, the two " saddest " wer: 1) losing the Cup Final v. Arsenal 2) and the away leg of the play-off v. Derby. We were much the better side ... but didn't have enough players capable of scoring from the spot. Chez Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 winning at Anfield that took us to 4th in the league is pretty hard to beat. But, and this might sound strange, the Derby play off second leg was an unbelievable game and one that will stick in my mind forever and actually with some fondness. The buzz when Viafara scored a minute after they had gone two ahead in the tie and then the same when he brought us level was the best feeling I've ever experienced at a match and the Rasiak last grasp equaliser had me jumping about 4feet off the ground. An amazing feeling. A tremendous buzz. Gutted we lost of course, and the rain soaked walk back to the car summed up how all Saints fan felt in the end, but what a game, what an experience. The play offs are something else. Worst, the 4-1 thumping and the "amarilo song nightmare" at **** park. Anyone that was there will hold that pain deep in their bones till the day they die, or the day we do the same to them. Lets hope that day comes. Arizona Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Best would probably have to be the 3-2 vs Arsenal (the second time) for performance and 3-0 vs Skates for sentimental value (which is double for me because of Pahars' goal). Worst would be the 5-0 at Wednesday or Hull last season (can't pick a "winner" out of the two). Worst for sentimental value would be the 4-1 at Fratton. oxfordshire_saint Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Best Last game at the Dell!!! Thrashing Spurs in the FA Cup The home win against Pompey in the league, Marian's goal made that extra special The 3-2 vs Arsenal at St Mary's, I was in the beer queue in the Northam just before h/t when Beattie smashed his free-kick in, I can just remember it going mental and beer flying everywhere! Staying up last day vs Sheff Utd, a real rollercoaster and a quality pitch invasion, I'm not sure Surman knew if he'd make it out alive or not! Beating Liverpool when Riise scored a comical headed own goal. Not the greatest of games but I despise Liverpool, so happy days. Smashing Chelsea 4-2 on a New Years Day, Beatts free-kick was quality. Reading away last year, they seemed invincible going into the game, we were down on our luck and with a team full of kids. I really do believe our support made a difference that day, was awesome to see the whole end full of Saints fans. Worst Burnley game last year was pretty bad. Getting drubbed at Fratton. Leeds 4-3, nuff said. The Everton game where Beatts scored on his return and Marcus Bent smashed in that late goal. Swindon away this season, just depressing! Lord Duckhunter Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Best Watford at Villa Park Last game at Dell, what an ending. Sheff Utd at SMS Crouchys Peno-Did a Dads dance down the steps and embaressed my 15 year old son. Forset away last season-The support that day, convinced me we'd still have a Club and a spirit no matter what happens. Worst- Tranmere in the Cup Skates 4-1 away, we were lucky it wasn't 6 or 7. Blackpool 0-1 last season, outplayed by a poor side, knew then that Lowe's madness was going to lead us down.
