I think it'd be hilarious if they had to come to us, tail firmly between their legs to ask if they can share our ground!

I know a lot of Pompey fans who would be seriously eggy faced if they had to do that! lol

Let them start up a pub team on southsea common and maybe we could occasionally let them borrow saints training gear to keep warm:p

Haaaha the idea makes me very warm inside

alan knights testimonial, we beat them 5-1 at fratton (what a night that was)...

they raided the pitch and was kept away from us by a row of mounted police...some ran around the back of the away stand and threw anything and everything over into the stand...

we were kept on for what seemed like hours, with dave beasant telling us all jokes..

it was horrific getting back to fratton station..

after the skates could not get into a tangle with us, they went on the rampage in pompey that night too..

many of us remember another night at Fratton for John Milkins testimonial, we won 7 nil i think, and we took a beating on the terraces and streets getting back to fratton, some of us escaped using the gosport ferry

so the hatred runs deep

I know it has been discussed on the forum (In it's various forms) a few times, but an interesting post on the takeover thread in the lounge, from a skate, who believes that end is nigh for pompey, based on some sort of land deal;

"your seeing the endgame, kaboul off in Jan, in all seriousness I think PFC is being wound down for a property deal on the ground and you will not see a PFC again ever in the current form."

So if that does happen and whatever form they are reborn as, would you want them to ground share with us?

NC and Libherr have said they want to ultimately run us as a self sustaining business, so financially it would obvioulsy make sense, but would the fans accept it?

For me it is a resounding NO.

Depends - if they are a Premier League club without a ground then yes it makes sense.

If they are wound up and reformed as AFC Pompey or whatever then probably not they would be better off playing at somewhere like Havant & Waterlooville which has Conferenece Standard facilities and would be more affordable for a club starting out again albeit with a relatively large following.

From the Sun today:

PORTSMOUTH

NEED: To get their Prem transfer ban lifted!

MONEY: Are you kidding? With the club committed to £8m of payments for previous signings, they do not have a penny and can only dream of loan deals.

TARGETS: First priority is to extend Jamie O'Hara's loan. Then persuade Spurs to also let them have striker Giovani Dos Santos on similar terms.

SURPLUS: Someone has to go just to pay the debts. Avram Grant will sacrifice Nadir Belhadj, John Utaka and maybe David James.

So many reasons you could pick, heres one...

20k Pompey fans in Southampton 23 times a year would bring a huge annual policing bill that would wipe out a large chunk of any gate money. When the brought 3k for one off league games it was a nightmare to police so with 20k invading a city they hat on a regular basis the police just wouldn't do it and the local residents would hate it. Every other football team ground share is two teams in the same city. A city they both respect. Pompey fans don't like Southampton.

20k pompey fans? since when!

Poortsmouth fans smashed up their own city after losing a game once, imagine what they'd do to ours..

... I think you will find they smashed it up when they beat us... they actually won the game then wrecked the city!!

I don't want to see them go out of business as I think the local rivalry can be positive for football but unfortunayely on my last visit there, I had one lovely PFC fan snarling that he hoped we died of cancer... to be fair there are plenty of knuckle draggers on our side of the fence as well, people who simply factor in that this is purely about football, but unfortunately you cannot legislate for morons who need to find something bigger in there life to fill it.

I have a lot of friends on the blue side, and have enjoyed friendly banter and discussion over the years, even going to watch each others respective sides play, this is how football should be.

I was n't bowled over by the support that came our way when our backs were against the wall earlier this year, so I guess you could be hard nosed and turn the other way, but personally I would n't wish any fan to go through what we went through in the summer so we should be big enough to offer to help in someway...( even for the bragging rights!!). The way things are going we could well be playing them next year... but as too ground sharing I think they would be better suited going to H&W, or Brighton.
