Ticket Office Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 All Due to the awful driving conditions in and around Southampton I am concerned that supporters may try and make a journey to St Marys just to buy a ticket. I have therefore instructed our ticket sales line to drop the booking fee for today and tomorrow to ensure that only essential journeys are made (where possible). As a reminder, the booking line is a freephone number - 0800 2800 050 and for today and tomorrow there will be no booking fee on any ticket purchased. For info, sales for Exeter are just over 27,000 so far. Have a good Christmas David
saints_is_the_south Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Nice touch, maybe worth letting Radio Solent know too.
Evil Monkey Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Good thinking. Great to hear that sort of attendence figure. If it isnt open already David...open the Itchen north!
georgeg Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Attention to detail is the difference between an "ordinary run of the mill club" and a great one this is an excellent idea David!!!! may I wish a Happy Christmas to you and your staff who work so hard on our behalf
Joesaint Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 I am still in shock at how different out club is, great idea. COYR
Ewell Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 That is just brilliant. Well done David. We really do have our club back!
Whitey Grandad Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 A very wise and sensible move. A happy Christmas to you and all your staff.
richie Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 when did the booking fee come in? I always use to phone and never got charged it.
OldNick Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 when did the booking fee come in? I always use to phone and never got charged it.There always has been a booking fee on credit card transactions.
Wurzel Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Great decision . Saved Mrs Wurzel a reluctant drive over there today Good thinking. Great to hear that sort of attendence figure. If it isnt open already David...open the Itchen north! Just got 2 for Block 2 so looks like it's open
saints_is_the_south Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 when did the booking fee come in? I always use to phone and never got charged it. Only applies for credit cards.
Matthew Le God Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Did the club not realise that single adults could buy an adult/child pair for £10 and only using the adult ticket? Leaving the child seat empty rather than paying £22 for a single seat with an equivalent view, possibly even selling the child ticket aswell and making money back on the £10 outlay. Basically this deal is £10 for a single adult seat. Not that I would do it, as sitting in the family enclosure would be my idea of hell!
Toomer Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 With the way the club is being run now I am sure I saw the smile return to Teds face on his statue.
battlingbob Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 great gesture david merrt xmas to you and all your staff what a fantastic club we have now
saints_is_the_south Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Chapel Stand now sold out according to the OS.
converted_saint Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Chapel Stand now sold out according to the OS. And still it'll be silent...
Matthew Le God Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 And still it'll be silent... Well its full of young families so they are hardly going to make the same noise as the Northam.
RonManager Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Well its full of young families so they are hardly going to make the same noise as the Northam. The most popular song sung by the parents in the Chapel may be 'sit down - shut up'

Obviously they thought the majority of fans weren't chav enough to do this sort of thing and thought they'd treat us like responsible adults. It only seems to be you who keeps banging on about it anyway.
View From The Top Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 (edited) And still it'll be silent... I sit in the Chapel with Corky Morris and our nippers and the support is often "shrill". Passionate, just pre-pubescent. Edited 23 December, 2009 by View From The Top

It only seems to be you who keeps banging on about it anyway. I'll be on the halfway line in the Itchen as normal so I certainly won't do it. I was just raising the point that it is open to exploitation and may leave gaps in the Chapel for what could be close to a sell out.

You weren't "just raising the point", you've been going on about it across several threads and now you're doing it here to try and get some attention from the club as well. Just leave it out and let people buy full price tickets as they should do!

I would imagine that the vast majority use debit cards anyway so this gesture won't affect hardly anyone anyway.

So as Mr Luker has said only ESSENTIAL journeys need be made. i.e fans wanting to pay by cash. Excellent gesture, well done.

FFS, the club are doing something good here - stop looking for the negative - ITS CHRISTMAS FFS!
saint J Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Does anybody know how many sold for Colchester so far?
Norm Posted 24 December, 2009 Posted 24 December, 2009 David, nice gesture re dropping 'phone booking fee. I got two tickets for young H' (10) and I but they are six seats apart! I hope some kind person will change seat to allow us to sit next to each other. I knew I should have gone down to SMS earlier in the week:rolleyes:
SFC Forever Posted 24 December, 2009 Posted 24 December, 2009 The most popular song sung by the parents in the Chapel may be 'sit down - shut up' You can take the pee all you want. the families that bring their young are the future of this club. Not some half brained moron who wants to see all kids learn how to swear and act like chavs. I take an 11yo girl and 6 yo boy and they are learning our songs a bit at a time. We sing but not at the same level. Ther is also a large section on both sides of the stadium that can be very quiet. Why don't you pass comment on them you prat. Or would you rather we left our kids at home. Cos if so i would stay with them. last home game against norwich we saw two Saints scrapping amongst themselves. Is that what you want our youngsters to see.
SFC Forever Posted 24 December, 2009 Posted 24 December, 2009 It is because of prats like you that I have stopped paying to come on here.
suewhistle Posted 24 December, 2009 Posted 24 December, 2009 I think most of us appreciated that RonManager was making a tongue-in-cheek post. Why are people so antagonistic on here? I'm sure most of us at heart love to see the new generation coming along, including those who act like grumpy old men..

Is that what you want our youngsters to see. Apologies, but really - wooooosh! It was just a flippant, throwaway comment (hence the smiley face), based on a mental picture of a packed end with thousands of kids making a heck of a lot of (high-pitched) noise to the point of deafening their parents/guardians - nothing more, nothing less. There was no implication of any kind, especially not to the sort of songs they may be singing. I was 12 when I first went to see Saints in 1968 and we used to run riot (in an innocent, childish way), in the Archers end, much to the annoyance of our elders, who weren't backwards in coming forwards to tell us to shut up and stop mucking about. In the time since, I have never been in a fight or had anything to do with any unseemly behaviour. I still sing (Kingsland North and away matches) but only those songs that support our team. With all due respect, you couldn't have got me more wrong, and the name-calling does you a dis-service. Merry Xmas to you and yours. Edited 25 December, 2009 by RonManager Typos and spelling
