FIFA rule protects Lambert & Hammond from leaving

The fact that Lambert, Hammond etc joined us when we were on -10 proves they want to be here. Pardew is building a side, and the players he has attracted are a different class in all departments compared to some of the other idiots that have have plagued us for the last 5 years. Hopefully they're aware of some of the other players that left us to "better themselves". The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I'm confident our stars are here for a long time!!

Players wanting to be here counts for very little when big(gish) money is involved. Everybody wants to be where they are until something better comes along. Few resist the call of a league or two above, a couple of thou' a week more and a signing on fee.If you look at all the Saint's ex-players who "wanted to stay" and then up sticks as soon as a couple of bob was thrown at them, you'll see that there are very few exceptions. The "look at where he is now" argument has very little effect on a player considering moving to a higher standard of football. For every Chris Baird there's a Theo Walcott or a Kenwyne Jones.

If they want to go then bye bye as far as i'm concerned. It's all ifs and buts anyway. How good is it being a Saints fan at the moment. Let's just be glad we have a cracking future.

A couple of players wanting away could change that very quickly. I'm confident that the management will handle it all very well, but there's no doubting that there will be offers for Lallana and Morgan this January. They probably won't move on though but if they should we'd need good class replacements pretty quickly. We saw on Saturday what becomes of us without Morgan, even AP said so,Lallana would be the same,Neither is irreplaceable but it would need careful thought to get it right straight away.

nice.

It still surprises me to find people on here that don't see how much better he is compared to last season. In my opinion its him, not Hammond that is running things in the middle.

You may have a point, but ultimately Morgan's improvement should be attributed to AP and the coaching staff.

Doubt it, the kid is a natural. They may have changed his mental attitude but I doubt if any one of them has anything to teach him on a technical basis.Positional sense and playing for the team yes, basic skills-no.

His mental might not have been quite right and who could question that, coming to the UK at 18,turning down Pompey and then finding yourself in a club run by a bunch of tightfisted, pennyless jackasses.

Some of our younger players may well be looking at the fact they are playing first team football and not rotting in the reserves, hence the main reason they will want to stay and continue their development until a time we are in a higher league or they can move to a team that will virtually guarantee them first team football all the time.

I bet Mellis wonders why he is here though.Probably wishes he was in Chelsea's reserves getting the odd run out in the Carling Cup.

Haven't read all of this thread, just scanned through it quick. But from what I can gather what we have is a load of b*ll*xs spouted by a local news paper, who cant get access to the ground/players due to their own stupidity. They then copy a thread from this very forum and print it in their cr*p rag. The Echo continues to swim along the bottom of the cesspool of cr*p journalism.

I think Clubs will be in for Pardew as well, but hopefully he's here for the long haul.

I am not so sure. Pardew is a good manager but when you look at Grayson at Leeds and Lambert at Norwich, he has to be trailing those two, with the added advantage of shed loads of cash. Lambert had to sort out a Norwich team ****ed up by Gunn, no mean feat in such a short space of time. Pardew has bought exceptionally well and is doing a good, steady job.

Cortese appears a hard task manager and I would not be surprised if it could be touch and go for Pardew if we fail to get to the play off's. If Cortese is 100% behind his statement recently, that promotion this season is our priority, Pardew has a few black marks against him on that one. I am still struggling to find a match report from any Saints fan that mirrors Pardew's for Leeds. At the end of the day it could well come down to making the play off's but I would expect him to still be here next season after the progress he has made.

It would be plainly stupid even to consider getting rid of AP in the next couple of years.

I was a little concerned that his Charlton form may have followed him but he has done a reasonable job and I am enjoying the season
