The 'Weston Homes Commnity Stadium' is 10,000 so maybe there is an overlap in the statistics.

If everybody just pays £10 and doesn't take a child with them it doesn't create any new fans. It would serve the smart arses right if the gate-men won't let people with that type of ticket in unless they have the requisite child with them. Well I told the ticket office guy i just wanted the adult ticket, that there would be no kids with me, and was told this was fine. Why exactly would it " serve them right?" perhaps people who took up this deal are not proper fans?
OldNick Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 I expect the club were not surprised that some would use it to save money, but it is a blunderbuss aproach spray enough shot and you'll hit something. The fans who have used it just to go by themselves may well want some more and go next time at ful price, a lot will give the kid tickets to friends and so the potential of new fans. Friuends of ours took their kids last leauge game and we got a call at 6 oclock saying they were still trying to prize their kid out of the club shop.He was a man u fan up to then. Now he is fully kitted up as a saints fan. Yes there are some who will use this to knock the club but for me, if it encourages another 100 people to become saints fans then it is all worhtwhile. Happy christmas
Evil Monkey Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 Let me get this straight. Its £10 for and adult and child ticket, and what? Full price for just an adult? Thats ridiculous. We'll have about 18k in the ground then.

Matthew Le God Posted 23 December, 2009 Posted 23 December, 2009 (edited) Did the club not realise that single adults could buy an adult/child pair for £10 and only using the adult ticket? Leaving the child seat empty rather than paying £22 for a single seat, possibly even selling the child ticket aswell. Basically this deal is £10 for a single adult seat. Not that I would do it, as sitting in the family enclosure would be my idea of hell! Edited 23 December, 2009 by Matthew Le God

Agreed, they should put a note on tickets for any part of the Northam saying if you don't want to sing and stand use one of the other stands. The £10 offer in the Family Centre should ensure all families are safely sat up there away from anyone who could offend them. Will be great to see the ground full again, hope Exeter can bring a couple of thousand to make it a decent atmosphere.

Well going by their original ticket details page on their OS, they describe their allocation of 1200 being large. I don't think they will have many who will pay on the day as its Boxing Day with no trains so their options are limited, either supporters coaches or their own vehicle etc. I don't think they will bring many more than the 1200.

Lol calm down mate. It's a one-off deal designed to get more kids, the future generation of saints fans, to the game. The only way it is discriminating against honest fans is if dishonest fans take advantage; which quite obviously is not the club's intentions. With all due respect I think you need to have a look at it again and ask yourself whether this is 'arrogance', or an attempt by the club to make itself a family club again. Seeing as you are in the minority at being angry at the club I'd suggest it is the latter. Furthermore, in my opinion, although I'm obviously generalising a bit, the majority of people who are going to sit in the Chapel are either parents with their children, or older adults. Therefore the amount of people who are likely to try and 'play the system' is considerably smaller as that sort of demographic is not likely to want to sit in the Chapel anyway.

I have not said I'm against any promotions at all - on the contrary I would advocate them and promoting kids in particular. The thing is though, why discount adults to tho the tune of some 60% at the same time. If the offer was linked to those unemployed or on Social I would say that's fare enough but this 'offer' shows no sign of any thought process being employed what so ever and hides behind the 'lets get kids in' slogan as an excuse for a poorly thought out scheme.

I think you do have a point in that certain adults, those with children, benefit over others, but realistically there's no other way to get kids in; you have to offer their parents an incentive to bring them. It's not as if you're actually losing out is it? You'd have been paying the same for a ticket whether this offer was on or not, so there's absolutely nothing to complain about.

You'd have been paying the same for a ticket whether this offer was on or not, so there's absolutely nothing to complain about. Well you are wrong there... 4 adults wanting tickets behind the goal in the Northam would pay £88. 8 people (4 adults with 4 children) wanting tickets behind the goal in the Chapel would pay £40. Both sets of seats would have the same view but prices are massively different. In theory a group of 4 adults could take up the deal offer in the Chapel and not bring any children and save £48 compared to another group of 4 adults in the Northam. 8 tickets (including 4 adult) are under half the price of 4 adult tickets for the exact same view of the pitch. Crazy logic! The ticket office has messed this up. What they should have done is made all adult tickets stay at full price and give away free child tickets if brought with an adult ticket. Ooooo Mariaaan Posted 24 December, 2009 Posted 24 December, 2009 It's a ploy to record a 'sell-out' - they most likely are fully aware that loads of adults without kids will bundle into the Chapel. Can't believe the post saying it'd be 'fair enough' giving discounts to the unemployed - sorry for having a job and contributing to society as opposed to taking from it.
West End Saint Posted 24 December, 2009 Posted 24 December, 2009 I dont mind when they do deals to get fans in kids for a quid whatever not bothered I have been a season ticket holder for a number of years but i dont see it as losing out when the club do a offer. I would much rather see a full St Marys and the next generation of Saints fans get the bug I think this years ST was good value. We are seeing our team win & score goals if it is with a full house so much the better.

So if there's loads of empty seats in the "sold-out" family area then the club will know they got it wrong and some fans have taken the club for mugs. Bet there aint. It's a great way to get kids there at this level of football, the club should be commended.
