Especially as by then everyone will have been stuffed full of food and looking for an excuse to go out and get some fresh air ahead of filling their faces some more.

The last time I went there for a game after it being closed it was full of wannabe Itchen boys...and the atmosphere was pretty poor tbh. There are certain things taht need to be rectified and one of them is to open the Itchen North next season for season tickets. In this day and age and league the potential for fisty cuffs in pretty minor. At Leeds on Saturday I was stood next to a section of home fans - and completely ignored them. I believe that the smallest of police presence could control any crowd - and to be honest I think most of the fans would be self controlling. Most were on first name terms with the police and stewards anyway; so why all the extra hype over additional cost? I'm sure it was still the ploy of "he who must not be named and shamed on these pages" to get revenge on the lunatic fringe... Please Nicola we are not the lunatic fringe just more passionate about our clubthan an ex-Chairman who nearly killed our club. Get Blocks 1-3 open - providing the away fans stay put - it is what generates a real atmosphere.

I'm still to be convinced how much money is saved by having fans seperated by sections as there has still been a Police presence at games and there appears to be just as many stewards working on a match day as there was before. Anyone able to confirm if `redundancies' were made in stewarding when the sections were closed?

Having said that it would appear that (a) someone at the club made a gaff on pricing policy and (b) there could be some kids (future supporters) who will not be able to get a cheap seat if there's a "sell-out", which would be a shame. Actually, how do you know that this applies to "a lot of people"? It would be interesting to know factually how many have done this.

Tickets sold, so even if season ticket holders don't turn up they are included in attendance. At last Season s match v Sheff Utd. due to snow official attendance 13,000 but I would be surprised if many more than 10,000 in ground that night

Surely most people know children, even if they aren't their own. Nephews, nieces etc. What a nice little treat to take a kid to football at Christmas.

All they had to do was make certain parts of the ground £10 , with one free child ticket if you wanted it. I was told that the ticket office can't even take back the free child tickets to re sell.

But the idea of that sort of lost leader is that you create new demand. If everybody just pays £10 and doesn't take a child with them it doesn't create any new fans. It would serve the smart arses right if the gate-men won't let people with that type of ticket in unless they have the requisite child with them.

It might also be designed to sell a lot of spanking new shirts and other gear to be proudly worn on Boxing Day. You lose a few bob on a ticket but make packet on replica kit. Except this lady wasn't lovely and had a very deep voice. I agree though that Mr Luker knows best. They've always included the away sales in the crowd figures. As I've always understood, and why I can't understand why Ticket Staff seemed to have added an additional 1500 tickets sold today.:confused:
