Thedelldays Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 I find it very odd that when the top jobs in England are (or rumoured to be) available, that he never gets a mention...even in the press.. IMO, he is first class, has european pedigree and managed at international level... would Mancini be any better than him..? could he do a better job than Rafa right now..? he is easily the best english manager IMO and would be a good shout to be Enagland manager one day.. Arizona Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 I agree, seriously underrated. I think Liverpool could do a lot worse when they inevitably get rid of Rafa.
Thedelldays Posted 20 December, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 December, 2009 indeed.. the more you watch fulham the more I admire him as a manager Play the right way, astute signings on little money and he is a very good communicator with Fulham progressing in europe on a small squad too.... top, top manager actually, it is good that he is happy at fulham and with all the bollix of a liverpool or man city... INFLUENCED.COM Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 Thought he was banded about for the England Job when at Blackburn with all the talk of how he introduced to the English game the importance of certain foods etc... Agree, a good manager and comes across as a half decent guy, just a pity he has Fayed as a boss
ribbo Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 I agree, seriously underrated. RedAndWhite91 Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 He seems like a proper sound bloke as well. Definitely bought stability (and more) to Fulham and I rate him as a manager. Agree with Thedelldays. 7th last Season and 9th currently, and you don't often get teams beating Man Utd 3-0, no matter how weakened they are through injury. St Landrew Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 Excellent manager. Have thought so for several years. He's always gone about his business with very little fuss and bother, but he, more often than not, gets results. The relegation with Blackburn Rovers, back in the 1990's, set him back but he has more than made up for that. A real gentleman too. Odd Trivia: Looked up his record [just to clarify my memory on B.Rovers], and found that he's been in football management since 1976..!
saint_stevo Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 He does have a saggy face though..........but more pedigree than 90% of other PL managers

LA77 Posted 22 December, 2009 Share Posted 22 December, 2009 Excellent post. He is a brilliant manager and doesn't talk endless sh** like the other idiots. Fulham are a good team to watch as a neutral
stevegrant Posted 22 December, 2009 Share Posted 22 December, 2009 Delighted that he's doing so well, to be honest. Partially from a selfish point of view as I'd been wanting him to be the next Saints manager every time the job became available after Strachan left Unfortunately, most football club chairmen in this country wouldn't look at the fantastic work he'd done in jobs abroad (both club and national teams), but based his entire aptitude on his admittedly dodgy spell at Blackburn. You don't get a job at Inter Milan without being pretty useful.
Scummer Posted 22 December, 2009 Share Posted 22 December, 2009 You don't get a job at Inter Milan without being pretty useful. Mancini should do alright at City then. Which brings us back to where this thread started.

oxfordshire_saint Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 imo a lot of english coaches would do well to adopt the career path Roy has taken and Steve Maclaren is on now. Indeed, didn't do Bobby Robson any harm going to places like PSV, Porto and Barca. Too many English coaches are blinkered into staying in this country and not experiencing other footballing cultures, the same with the players too. That said, there have been some dodgy ones, Chris Coleman for example (ok ok, he's Welsh) had an awful time at Sociedad, but I'm sure he learnt from it. The national team would probably benefit if some of our top players went and experienced something different, could solve some injury problems if prone players are introduced to sunnier climes, has worked wonders for Jonny Wilkinson in the rugby down at Toulon. saint_bert Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 Roy is a top, top manager. Next England boss imo. Couldnt outwit teh tinkerman twice this year though!!
itchen_dan Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 I believe he is one of the best managers in England and Europe. He is seriously underrated and really should be more recognised for the bigger jobs that come around. When he joined Fulham i thought it was an ok appointment but they could've done much better. I have been proved wrong and fair play to the bloke. He has taken Fulham from bottom of the table strugglers to constant european challengers. Just look at well they have done this year in the Europa League and the Prem! Even Strachan struggled to do that well with us in Europe and he was class! He has got a fantastic squad at Craven Cottage and they have got a right gem of a manager in Hodgson! Roy is a great manager and really should be given the opportunity to manage the national side next in my opinion. He has the experience and most importantly has passion! Give it to Ron Posted 29 December, 2009 Share Posted 29 December, 2009 no one will do a decent job at liverpool unless they get rid of the debt from the club. /QUOTE] They cant have too much debt paying £18m for a right back that can't defend and £20m on a midfielder that was injured for half a season ! Benitez has lost the plot and Liverpool will get nowhere whilst he is in charge - selling Crouch and Keane and keeping Voronin? My mate is a Fulham supporter and raves about the job Hodgson is doing, he has had trips to Basel and Rome watching them lately and fair play to them. Great manager and vastly underrated. Will get the sack next season when they lose 4 of the first 6 games and all the good work he has done will be forgotten.
