Can't see it anywhere but it could happen as they would want to get the new man in before the transfer window opens. Benitez should get the bullet if they lose to the skates. Liverpool are playing sh*t and are actually managing to make the skates look good. :(

He has a game in half an hour. After the game maybe but I doubt before the game seeing as he's just been pictured walking into the dressing room.

Personally I think Mark Hughes is a good manager to look after overpaid brats. I'm sure he takes no sh#t and I'm not sure who would prove to be a better manager at City.

If true, it's a bit like getting rid of Paul Hart at Pompey. What more do the directors expect?

Mourinho is the man for tha job. He gets under fergies skin and knows how to build a PL winning team.

Mark Hughes is a good manager, but he doesn't quite have the charisma yet, and Man City are understandably not patient enough to wait. They have pots of money, which they are quite happy to part with, so why waste time with a lowish profile manager. They're looking to win the Premiership, and be the biggest club, not be upper-mid table fodder.

Are you serious?

I agree. Man City are not like Pompey and the City directors expect nothing less than winning the Premiership.

BREAKING NEWS: Manchester City have confirmed the sacking of manager Mark Hughes, and announced the appointment of Roberto Mancini as his replacement.

Mancinni is good though, but I hope Sparky screwed them good and proper for the diabolical way in which they have behaved. He'll have a nice little wad in his back pocket for his trouble anyway so probably not that miffed and he's a good chance of getting some decent TV deals for the World Cup now.

Everyone wins imo.

Yeah, I'm as flummoxed as you on that decision. I would have thought they would have got someone like Guus Hiddink in there.

it has been reported that Hiddink and Mourinho both turned the job down earlier this week

to be fair...hughes was pretty poor in the league really for them

Indeed, still not sure Mancini is the man to take them forward.

I'm sure he will command the respect of the players more than Hughes though. Could make the difference.

They really should have made Hiddink an offer he can't refuse.

Doesn't Ambramovic fund Hiddink's wages for managing the Russian team? There's either something in his contract that says he's not allowed to sign for another English team other than Chelsea or he will be on the Blues' radar if Ancellotti doesn't work out in the long run.

But didn't the team lead a 'revolt' against the sacking because they already had respect for Hughes and thought his sacking was unfair?
