Yes you are.

On behalf of us all (because we're all too shy, polite and reserved), could you get the train down to SMS and march upon Cortese's office and tell him to stop 'fannying about' ffs.

Thanks in advance.

In all seriousness - I will back any signings AP decides to make. I cant grumble about any of his transfers to date so will just wait and see what happens.

Would like one or two 'exciting' purchases - but who wouldnt. ;)

Ivan Sproule CDAJFU. He does not start every game for a good Bristol City side so is fairly realistic. He also has explosive pace and good delivery.

He could start on the right side of midfield pushing Waigo up front to be an extra striker.

This is just if we do not keep Antonio.

If we could get Elliott Ward from Coventry as our centre back and Volz as our right back, then that would be our defence sorted for sure!!

I was told that with Jaidi and Trottman our defence would be sorted as well

If we made a reasonable bid I doubt they would refuse.

I heard today one the players AP wants is Nigel Reo Coker!!!! I cant believe he would leave Villa for us even if he did have a bust up with O'Neil but we can always hope I personally think Coker is quality

he was one of villas best players last night......i can't see that.

fair play for AP having high aspirations...but that's probably a little too hopefull....maybe if we were pushing in the championship...

Heard from where? He is 25 and playing in the Premiership on a high wage and cost £8.5m two years ago. Seems extremely unlikely he'd drop down to League One.

Totally agree with you on that, that why I said I cant see it happening. I know he had a bust up with O'Neill, but Im sure he would go to another prem club is he was to leave and not us

Sounds pretty far fetched to be honest. I mean we won't be spending the 10/15 million that it would take and he wouldn't drop 2 division so propagating a

story like that is .....justboitefumiersmall.jpg

Did you hear this in your/my dreams?

Finally though - some ambition from the club

According to 606 resident ITK'er who claims media contacts, Roy Keane is, well, keen on Saga. That doesn't sound like a match made in heaven to me but could be good for us.

Allegedly we are interested in Pim Balkestein in return. I believe he is a CD with a decent reputation and was on loan at Brentford and had his loan renewed about a week ago but Keane has suddenly recalled him to Ipswich... hmm!

It may be seen as poetic justice but rumours seem to be coming out of Colchester linking us with Wordsworth and also Maybury. Wordsworth certainly wandered lonely through our defence and also scored a cracker the game before at Sarfend, so who knows... ?

I'm afraid that come the end of the transfer window there are going to be a lot of despondent people. We will not spend trillions, we won't sign any big names and our side will look very similar after the transfer window to the one that played last Saturday. A couple in and a few out on loan.

Did you think that in the summer when Pardew signed 11 players? He did that when we were on -10. Now we a better chance of promotion and much more attractive to any player.

We will sign big in this window, i'm certain of it.

Nope I thought we'd spend some real money on some really excellent players but I learnt that it wasn't how we were going to do things. Now I see stories of Reo-Coker and Beckford and I just know that we're going to go down the same road as we did last time. Perhaps 1 major signing for 750K to a million but that will be about it.We'll be scratching around for loans and out of contract players

who may do a fine job for us but we will not be the Man C of our division.

Once again, in my humble opinion we have a virtually zero chance of promotion this season. We are too far adrift and I think the management will see it that way as well.

Saints spent far more than anyone else in League One in the summer. Its all relative to the League you are in and Saints were massive spenders at this level in the summer on transfer fees, signing on fees and wages.

You were claiming Saints didn't spend much in the Summer. When in fact they spent a few times more than any other League One club. I don't see have you can claim otherwise.

Who?

Excellent players, ie not Murty,Jaidi,Trotman etc.

Blokes who are doing a good job in the CCC, no-one in particular.

I wasn't impressed by our recruitment, I expected better, it was just an idea

that I had of what would happen. I think there were quite a few others as well.

But as I say in the above I think many expected us to spend 4 or 5 million in total last summer, we didn't and a few were despondent or disappointed to say the least. Now there is more talk about "significant sums" and some names are being touted. What I am saying is that if it doesn't happen (which it probably won't) many will be despondent all over again.

Personally I think we need just 2 players a CB and a RB, as for the rest I'm perfectly happy with what we have.

Jaidi played 33 games for Birmingham last season, and was part of the reason they had the most clean sheets.

Murty was an excellent full back for reading, albeit he's aged a bit now.

Hammond and Lambert are 2 star players at this level, harding is a championship quality full back and Connolly is too good for this level.

Papa Waigo is a Serie A player - i'm not sure what else you expected from a L1 club? we've blown all other L1 clubs out of the water with our spending and we will continue to do so.

if he can do that when missing most of the transfer window and attracting player when we are 10 points adrift I am quite hopeful for this window

Unfortunately we haven't blown all the other league 1 club out of the water with our results.I thought (in a personal way) that we'd be signing far far better players than Murty and Jaidi, I was wrong, so were our early results. I thought the new owners would want to mount a team capable of 1 hit promotion, we don't yet have that team, so i was wrong and so are the people expecting us to spend a lot of money this transfer window, that's all.

I wonder if that is what the club would have liked to have done, had the takeover taken place earlier.

However, by the time a new manager was selected and installed, just who of any real quaity would have still been available at that point and would want to come to a club bottom of L1 on 10 points?

4-5 months have now passed, things are settled concerning the running of the club, we are doing very well all things considered and AP and NC have had a good chance to sit down and decide exactly what they need, not only for the rest of this season, but for next as well. I expect there is a Plan A for promotion this season and another if not. Both would consist of buying good players on good contracts to cover both eventualities. The difference may lie in whether they buy now or line up players for purchase in the summer.

I think on that basis, with promotion still very much an attainable goal, January could well bring some high profile signings, but we shall see.

The 2nd one is a top player, would be gobsmacked if we got him - no chance IMO

re: Reo-Coker, I think it's a fair statement of intent to have players of his calibre touted around. Ok, we all doubt we could obtain a Reo-Coker, but we have the finances, it'd fantastic to stun the football world and bring in a quality player or two. (Although if this does happen I'd be suprised if it happened in January and not at the end of the season).

I'd personally like us to nick a Portsmouth player, just to wind them up a bit, mind you, have they got anyone worth having...

Kaboul is their star man (and going places) along with O'Hara (on loan from Spurs). Boteng has had a decent season, but the three clubs in a season rule would prevent him moving anywhere I think.

Hreiderssen, Brown and Tommy Smith are all pretty genuine and would certainly shine at our level. Slightly more realistic are Wiliamson and Webber who would do a great job, but again the three cub rule puts paid to that.

In reality though these players are not going to drop down from the Prem to League 1 unless serious money is on the table, and as rich as we are, the owner has talked about running the club properly income=outgoings so they are not coming to us.

I've heard rumours that we will bring in upto 6 more players this transfer window with most of them permanent.I've also heard from a very good source that AP has an open cheque book to buy the right players at the right price so expect some money to be spent if he can get the players he wants.

Targets like Lines,Barnard,Ward,Whitbread and even possibly Jackson are possible.Preston are skint and looking to sell players so maybe we will move for Trotman.

I do think Reo Coker & Beckford are unrealistic targets imho.

No doubt most of our signings will not even be on our radar on this board until they arrive like Hammond & Lambert but I am confident that there will be a number of additions to our squad
