The level of stupidness on this board and most notably this thread goes up every day. It is highly amusing.

Reo Coker still cracks me up as does Surman. However Tommy Smith being talked about like he wouldn't get into our team is another classic.

He'd probably destroy League 1 on his own. He's better than Rickie Lambert who every seems to think is a god of some sort.

He really is not that good, some people are talking about him as if he's the next Messi, FFS.

But he is quite a good player if he is in the Premiership

606's Saints self claimed ITK RocketSwanie reckons Saints are after Nathan Tyson and Guy Moussi from Nottingham Forest. I think its very unlikely but would be very good if there is any truth in a deal of £1.1m for the pair.

no chance. Tyson started the other day and has played 20 odd times for them this season. Mousi has played a lot less but primarily because he had a bad injury at the start of the season. Both are young and Davies isn't going to thin his squad at this point in the season.

The interesting thing about all this, to me, is that it reveals that no-one actually has a clue who or how many we will sign. During previous regimes, there was always a good deal of well-founded rumour going around, and we usually had a good bit of advance info as to what was going to happen. This regime plays their cards very, very close to their chest, and as frustrationg as it is to have no clue what players may be on their radar as possible signings, it's also heartening to see the sound professionalism involved in running such a tight ship!

In a few days now, I think we'll be hearing good news, and whoever comes likely will be someone unexpected.

There are loads of rumours for CCC or Premiership Clubs but not many for League 1 ones

That would be because clubs in superior League have difficulty assessing "talent" because of the perceived standard of League 1. Just look at the quotes from Gordon Watson scouting for Leicester concerning Lallana.

we wanted Tyson in the summer, so wouldn't surprise me.

Forest spent a lot of money at the start of the season, and I expect that they'd keep the money flowing in the January window. They also seem to have a lot of strikers (off the top of my head, Tyson, DMG, Blackstock, Earnshaw, Adebola and Garner), so I reckon a reasonable bid for Tyson would tempt them. He's just the kind of player that we need playing off Rickie actually, he's pacy, got a good touch and his off the ball movement is great. He could be very good for us in L1. He did just sign a new deal in January until 2011, but i'm sure we could probably tempt him with a nice pay packet.

yep, the've just spent a wedge extending Shorey's loan. However Davies said in the summer that he wanted 6 attackers. If anyone is going to leave it would be Garner as he is struggling to get a game. DMG has failed to impress as well. Tyson on the other hand has played a lot. If we could get him it would be agreat signing, but I'd of thought there would be a queue of CCC sides wanting him should he be allowed to leave.

Was looking for good centre-backs on FM (as you do) earlier today, and scouts came up with Dorian Dervite at Spurs. Thought I'd look him up on wiki. He's 6 ft 3", can't get anywhere near the spurs team, and went on loan to Southend last season and by all accounts, did really well for himself. Wonder if he's worth a punt, should we be looking for anyone there.

Pardew confirms an exciting transfer window ahead....

''We're going to get linked with a lot of new players so I'm not going to comment on them, I think it's unfair on the player and the clubs to dismiss or confirm anything, but we're just looking at a number of options that can take Southampton forward.

"We need to strengthen the squad. I'm not going to talk about specific areas but we have to do the right business to improve. We've come a long way in a short time, but we're still some way short of Leeds United in terms of quality and that's where we want to be.

"The fans want to see entertainment and hopefully our goals for record suggests that entertainment is there and we're trying to build quickly with a window coming up which means it's exciting times coming up, so hopefully we can build up the excitement levels further."''

Bof, offside is a complete lottery now, looking at the video clips of Monday's game I'd say Wordsworth was fractionally offside in the build up to their first goal. The Norwich bloke was definitely offside in the JP game. Perhaps it's as some say Waigo isn't always offside when it's given, just as quite a few incidents not given are in fact offside.

Going back to Monday's first goal, I've been looking at in in slow motion and it really is a wicked bad goal. After Trotman muffs his header and gives Lisbie tha ball he (Lisbie i)s surrounded by 3 of our players, but they're all standing off him,not one of them tries to dispossess him, it's left to Morgan (I think) to come racing back from at least twice the distance away to try and tackle him, Jaidi,Trotman and Harding just ball watch and try to anticipate the lay off, without actually noticing that Wordsworth has got behind Jaidi but it still onside (or not ?) because of Harding's placement, although Harding is by then 10 metres off the ball. It's a schoolboy f*ck up that any Commercial House coach would bollok his players all week for.

I did the same thing, both goals were similar, I think the first was offside.

50 minutes into the transfer window and still no signings. Starting to get impatient....

I think you'll be waiting until Monday as FA offices will be shut today. Transfers may still be announced to be happening but not official until FA opens again.

Quite funny that Beckford is only going up to the Championship' date=' I bet Leeds fans still think they're a bigger club than Newcastle.[/quote']

Well not really because Newcastle will be a prem team in six months.

Question:

is having an 'open chequebook' going to have the effect of making our bids for players long drawn out affairs as the incumbant clubs try to squeeze as much money out of us as possible OR will it speed things up as we're able to slap a higher 'take it or leave it' offer on the table?

Long drawn out transfer window or short sharp purchases early on?

Could be either really.

That was a great help, wasn't it?

We should offer 2 mill and saga.

Saga is an international and champions league player - Leeds should be offering us beckford + cash, surely?

On second thoughts.... ;-)
