Spudders Posted 18 December, 2009 Share Posted 18 December, 2009 I always find it funny how often you see odd trainers and shoes at the side of roads or on the hard shoulder of motorways (how do people lose a shoe whilst driving down the motorway!!!!) Clearly there is loads of rubbish that gets dumped/thrown/accidently dropped on the roadside and in ditches. Wondering what is the best/worst/weirdest thing you have found or seen at the roadside or near it? Mine was when I was about 13 or 14 I went for a cycle ride and on the way up a steep hill in the countryside I needed a p*ss. I went down the bank next to the road and there was a massive object wrapped in bin bags. I was intrigued (and slightly worried!) but I decided to open it and see what it was. It turned out to be a box full of European porn mags and vids, as you can imagine at 13/14 it was like finding treasure I think they'd been dumped rather than just hidden, but just to be sure I moved them further into the woods and spent the next few weeks going for a lot more cycle rides and slowly moving them home in small batches. Also have you ever lost anything weird at the roadside that someone else would have found and thought was odd?
Smirking_Saint Posted 18 December, 2009 Share Posted 18 December, 2009 Driving back from bracknell a few months back on the M3, a large ausatian complete with chain lead was running towards traffic on the outside lane. Obviously i thought my eyes were decieving me..........but no, there it was, slobbery tongue and all. I managed to avoid it, must have been doing about 80-odd at the time, saw two other cars in my rear view quickly manuever too. Wonder what happened to young Fido. pilsburydoughboy Posted 18 December, 2009 Share Posted 18 December, 2009 Hopefully a Huge Truck got it. I hate dogs particularly when they do not go with the traffic flow.

TopGun Posted 18 December, 2009 Share Posted 18 December, 2009 (edited) There's a road that goes from Skipton to Kettlewell in Yorkshire that is a road kill fest. Rabbits, hedgehogs and pheasants aplenty as well the odd fox. I've always thought it might be a good source of revenue for amateur pet food manufacturers that could sell some form of tripe at a local market. I imagine Spudgun's discovery of a porn stash was dumped by some bloke concerned that his parents or girlfriend might find the material in his cupboard! badgerx16 Posted 19 December, 2009 Share Posted 19 December, 2009 My first car was a 20 year-old Morris Traveller, bought for £70 but without an off-side rear wheel arch. At the time I was cycling the 15 miles to work most days, and one day on the way home I spotted something on a grass verge - it turned out to be a fibre-glass off-side wheel arch for a Morris Traveller ! I picked it up and cycled the remaining 12 miles or so with it over my shoulder.
