Got up at 6am drove from Hedge End to Hamble at 6.30 this morning, took 30 mins to get there, only for the only manager in to get a phone call saying what are you doing in the factory is shut today, he replied, would have been nice to tell the 20 employees that have turned up for work. Decision was made to stay unless the weather turned bad, all decided to abandon ship and head home at 10am, at least I get paid for the day as I had made it to work and they have sent me home. Took 30 mins to get back.

Still steadily coming down in town/Shirley. Managed to get to work OK this morning, now home for lunch for a bit. Gotta go back in about half an hour. Unfortunately working from home isn't an option - can hardly serve customers from my front room! Also, month end today so paperwork must be done. Just hope it's OK to get back tonight!

Be careful driving today, the conditions are horrendous and I’ve just come off the road and hit a Portsmouth fan. It took me 10 minutes, 2 fields and a golf course, but I got the f***er in the end.

It then took the AA 4 hours to separate my car from the wreckage.

:D

had over a foot of snow overnight where I am just north of skatesmouth. People don't have to careful on the roads round this area cos their impassable. Most people wouldn't be able to get their cars out of their driveways anyway

Barely an inch in Eastleigh... so much for this foot or so of snow we were meant to be getting!

Pretty much what we have here in the north part of Southampton. You can see the level on the tops of walls and posts. Just an inch or a tiny bit more, at most. Nothing to write home about.

I don't believe it. The BBC News are putting on a Big Freeze Special programme tonight. What's the matter with this country..? A few flakes of snow, and suddenly it's man-the-pumps time.

Actually, I'm guessing most people are as bored with the over-hype of news, by the media, as I am.

Sure am mate.

If I want to watch a big freeze special, i'll look out my sodding window.

Size does not matter, it's what you can do with it (apparently).

Ah euphemisms (sp); it's not the wand it's what the magician does with it, it's not the size of the nail it's the way you hammer it in.

i know, it's a f***ing joke. the north of the country has had snow on the ground for the past 3 weeks, yet as soon as it gets below the M4 corridoor and into London / Home Counties it's 'big news' time.

F***ing BBC. I'd much rather not have this 'special' and have the right to listen to matches on-line on a saturday.....

seeing as we are constantly told we are wrecking the planet...surely, hysterics like this will be more frequent..?

I spoke to our office in Norway today and they put our "big freeze" into perspective. When one of them stepped outside his front door this morning it was -32 degrees, -42 with wind chill.

I think the word he used when I was bemoaning our weather was "mild"

Made an igloo on the common accross the road from my house. I wonder how long it will be before it's a pile of snow covered in pikey's foot prints.

You can guarantee that the roads are passable and public transport is all running nicely, as well.

Funnily enough everyone made it in. To be fair having snow tyres helps

Or they'll be in and change the locks.

And the REALLY bad news is.....

All this stuff's gotta melt. Next problem sandbags shortage.

Somehow though I just know EoA despite having a rental car in a 6ft snowdrift in a cul-de-sac and with all airports shut will STILL be back here tomorrow.

Waxy's?

Good photos MB - is that Miller's Pond?

E mailed the pics to the echo this morning, not a single one of them made it on to their website, yet a load of shi*ter ones have, how odd.

Not enough SNOW in them, MB. Now if you had taken photos of the open stretches of The Common, no doubt you'd be a celebrity by now. ;)

Surely there's sufficient snow on the xmas trees.

How about this one? oh, and when you see it, you'll s**t bricks :)

From that photo..? Why would I do that..?

Well I can see why!

I wasn't sure if someone had left their face, or if there was a body underneath, so I just left it.

I guess the hand to the left of the picture gives away the fact it's a body.............

Quite....

EDIT: Moved to Muppet Show

Should this go on the Snowman 2010 thread?

I've been looking at webcams to try to see the extent of the snow. But that view says it all. Excellent pic.

You should have bought The Sun yesterday, same pic was in there.
