Was walking back to the house when i saw a BMW being put on the back of a lorry. Asked what had happened and someone said the person had been trying to look really cool and do wheel spins etc.. Then lost it and hit a curb fecking up the front of it. Seeing the deep snow on top of the convertible roof made me laugh a little. So there is a lesson in there, snow = not good for sports cars!

A couple of inches of snow and they all decide that they'd better get out and walk. Modern cars all tend to be FWD so that makes it all easier. I remember driving round North London in the sixties in my dad's Ford Anglia 100E. Now that was a real challenge. Anything up to 6 or 8 inches of packed snow is no trouble on most of our roads. The odd hill can be a problem but as long as you get a run at it and ease off the power then it's a doddle. These kids today have never seen a real winter. Ice is different though, and that's what we're going to get on Friday and Saturday with daytime temperatures not getting above 0ºC.

"lets make a snow man" i say to the missus, until we both get outside and realise niether of us have a key. Sooo, the only option is to walk from weston to thornhill to her parents house for the spare. Jesus, it's like the end of the world out there, cars stuck and abandoned everywhere, i had to help push a few up the hill. It's crazy, out of this world. We are just as a nation not prepared for this sort of crap. Sooner i finish my training and get my 4x4 the better, oh, and remembering keys will help !!!

If you can reach it with a brush or broom then you should be able to sweep the snow off of it and get your signal back. Either that or sit and wait and hope the snow melts or blows away. Fortunately for me our dish is within arm's reach of a window.

Cars abandoned all over the M27, on the slip roads and even one in the fast lane without the hazards on! Approximately a one hour queue at the bottom of Portchester Hill to try the ascent. W. Sussex/E. Hampshire has it bad, I'd estimate about 10" of it. A27 is diabolical with 10mph causing problems. Back here in Eastleigh it 's very thin in comparison!

Let my dogs out into the garden earlier and one of them dissapeared, the collie was only just visible! Work near Basingstoke and still mulling over whether it's worth trying to use the roads......

C'est la vie. Back to the snow, I have not seen snow like this for this long since I was a nipper (Canada apart 20 odd years ago).

I tried to get to work and ended up having to abandon my car after I tried to be clever and take a shortcut to avoid the traffic. Didn't occur to me at first how hilly that route was and I got well and truly stuck. Had to walk 45 mins home in just my work shoes which have zero grip on the soles. All good fun!

I went to Sainsburys in Chichester last night and they had completely sold out of bread at 8pm. The problem is that when there is panick buying you then tend to follow the pack. I was determined to buy some bread, if it bloody killed me. I drove round 3 convenience stores and 2 petrol stations to find a poxy loaf of no crust bread, as that was all that was left. A good 6 or 7 inches here Size does not matter, it's what you can do with it (apparently).
