SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 With Flybe's nearing its end, who would you like to see sponsor saints! The obvious choice would be "Liebherr" cranes ect. And it being the biggest deal outside the premiership, would indeed be something to crow about! :smt040

krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 None for next season please. Or maybe a local charity chosen by the Pastor of St Mary's church.
ericofarabia Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Viagra Maybe a joint Viagra and Liebherr cranes effort with the motto ' Erections R Us '
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Viagra For when we get back to the Prem, to help us stay up!!
Colinjb Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Either a local charity or nothing. It would look great to have a kit like West Brom a year or so ago, just 'clean' and right.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I agree about having a non-sponsered kit, I think it would look great. None of this ironed on at the last minute sponsor that looks ****.
Thedelldays Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 why go with no sponsor...I want the saints to get in as much revenue as possible or have Leibherr on the front
Pancake Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 why go with no sponsor...I want the saints to get in as much revenue as possible or have Leibherr on the front 125th anniversary.
South Londoner Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Yep; agree, no sponsor for next year.
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 why go with no sponsor...I want the saints to get in as much revenue as possible or have Leibherr on the front Only for the 125th anniversary. I'm even for a one season special shirt like the one MLG produced on here.
dellboypete Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 http://www.saints.co.uk Everytime I drive past their depot next to the M25 near Heathrow I think what a great sponsor they would be (apart from the tacky christmas lights on their roof)
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 17 December, 2009 Author Posted 17 December, 2009 Yep; agree, no sponsor for next year.Does sponsorship money not help the club out then! Or do you expect ML to pay for everything! As NC has said the club will have to be self supporting!!
Scudamore Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Some finance company i've never heard of please
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Does sponsorship money not help the club out then! Or do you expect ML to pay for everything! As NC has said the club will have to be self supporting!! Change the stadium name to the Liebherr Stadium then. Mind you, if the family are paying for the sponsorship (either Liebherr or Mali), then indirectly he is still paying for everything.
VectisSaint Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 With Flybe's nearing its end, who would you like to see sponsor saints! The obvious choice would be "Liebherr" cranes ect. And it being the biggest deal outside the premiership, would indeed be something to crow about! :smt040 Why would Markus have his brother and sister's company sponsoring us. Markus is nothing to do with Liebherr cranes. He might want his own business MALI to be sponsors, would make more sense, but probablly debatable whether it makes any commercial sense given that they are primarily involved in heavy engineering for the railway industry in Europe. I think Dell would make good sponsors, then we could also rename the stadium The Dell.

stardustonmyfeet Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 125th anniversary of what? our FA cup win
Badger Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 But it's not the Dell But wouldn't it be good to see the word 'Dell' emblazoned across the shirt rather than some sponsors name with no Saints connection ?
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 But wouldn't it be good to see the word 'Dell' emblazoned across the shirt rather than some sponsors name with no Saints connection ? I think it was Andrew Cowan that said that Saints' did approach Dell, when SMS was being built, with a view to being the stadium naming sponsor but they weren't interested.
Thedelldays Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 so much for doing everything the correct way another reason why we are the man city of league 1
Junction 9 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I can't see the current owners of the club being idiotic enough to miss out on shirt sponsorship because of some anniversary. They are businessmen and good ones at that. Hopefully we'll be in the CCC and would be a very attractive club to sponsor compared to others around us.
Master Bates Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 (edited) A charity and no not Pompey. Edited 17 December, 2009 by Master Bates
Thedelldays Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 ok...seeing out lowly position, and our quest to climbs the league and the FACT that nearly all would not like it if we went down the Man City route.. would people wanting no sponsor or a charity be prepared to pay and extra (say) £3 per match ticket and an extra £50 on their season tickets..? how else are we going to fund this expensive quest of ours..?
Arizona Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 so much for doing everything the correct way another reason why we are the man city of league 1 Change the record for crying out loud. There is a big difference, we aren't going to make a massive financial loss with the players we have signed. A loss, probably, but nothing like what Man City have done. We are the Man Utd of L1, not Man City. Whoever will pay us the most? Finally! One person on this thread with the right idea. The whole point of shirt sponsors is to generate extra revenue. It's astonishing the number of fans who have decided we don't need money now that Marcus is in charge. "We don't need a sponsor, we don't need any prize money from the JPT or FA Cup, less bung Lallana £5m to make him stay" etc. How many times does it need saying. Saints are being run as a BUSINESS. Money is important to Leibherr, we aren't a play thing he is just going to throw money at like Chelsea, Man City and Pompey.

I'd be happy to pay an extra few quid for the shirt.
Thedelldays Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I'd be happy to pay an extra few quid for the shirt. the quite possibly...(in league 1 next season) match day tickets could cost £30 to fund this.. waaaaay too much dont ya think

RonManager Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 It would be nice to have the option to buy a shirt wthout the sponsors name on it from the shop though.
Sheff Saint Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 How great would the income form shirt sponsership actually be? I'm sure if we were in Division 3 again next season we'd not make 6 figures a season price from any new deal. That's not based in any real fact, but i'm sure it's a 'relativly' token amount for lower league clubs. Certainly in the current climate.
Hatch Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 It would be nice to have the option to buy a shirt wthout the sponsors name on it from the shop though. or the sponsors should pay the 'wearer' a fee for being a walking billboard.

This extra revenue should easily cover our transfer spending and the higher wage bill compared to smaller clubs. Secondly we have only really splashed out on Lambert. This is more in the style of Man Utd signing one quality player on a large fee (e.g. Rooney, Ferdinand, Valencia) per season. Thirdly we've had to buy these players to replace those that left in the summer. More in the trend of Man Utd (Rooney to replace Solskjaer, Valencia to replace Ronaldo, Ferdinand to replace Staam etc.) rather than Man City (buy 9 strikers etc).

krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 so, the fact we have a UEFA 4 star stadium only a few years old totally paid for (by our new owner) not worth mentioning..the fact the new owner is paying for major upgrades to the training ground, leaving MORE money to the first team It's still prudent spending, as opposed to reckless spending, which I think many would think Man City are doing.
Thedelldays Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 It's still prudent spending, as opposed to reckless spending, which I think many would think Man City are doing. hmmmm...we just dont know that do we

Yes I don't think sponsorship for lower league clubs is worth that much. Probably less than £100k a year, especially in this climate. To compare that to delldays estimate, our attendances for the season will be somewhere in the region of 500,000 people. Funding sponsorship out of increased ticket prices would add about 25p to a ticket.
Arizona Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 It's still prudent spending, as opposed to reckless spending, which I think many would think Man City are doing. Exactly. There is a difference between spending a manageable amount of money on players, wages and upgrading facilites, compared to throwing £200m odd on transfers alone. hmmmm...we just dont know that do we Yes we do. You're obsessed with the idea that Saints are blowing massive amounts of cash.

And "BIG" companies like Liebherr Int, would enjoy the extra exposure! So you missed the point completely. Liebherr Cranes is not Markus' company. His company is Mali, and as I said even if the publicity is free, I seriously doubt that a heavy engineering railway equipment company would derive any benefit whatsoever from sponsorship of an English 3rd or 2nd level football team - even a Premier League team would probably not benefit Mali much, but hey ho, if Markus wants Mali on the shirts rather than a named commercial sponsorship which brings in revenue to the club, its his Club and he can do what he likes (and I am very pleased that is the case)
