Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 On my way to work this morning I passed not one, but TWO vehicles with 'Liebherr' displayed proudly down the side. There I was, sat on the A12 with a great big smile on my face and couldn't help but burst into OWTS! I also remember being in Amsterdam this summer for the England game and seeing two or three Liebherr cranes, and again, a great big smile was plastered across my face. My missus thought I was mental! Does this happen to anyone else?
Legod Third Coming Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Isn't our Liebherr no longer part of that Liebherr or did I dream that??
Junior Mullet Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I was on Honeymoon in the US earlier this year. Saw a couple fo bloody great Liebherr diggers in the desert near Phoenix. Made me smile, like you. My wife wasn't quite as thrilled.
John B Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 (edited) My missus thought I was mental! So do I as Markus has nothing to do with them Edited 17 December, 2009 by John B

BotleySaint Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I went to Greece, a dusty old track to a nice beach, there was a Liebherr digger building some part of a house. Coincidentally I had my saints shirt on, and my saints beach towel. I had my photo taken as evidence.
Foxy Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Yes I think you are right but I wonder where he got his billions from? He was part of Liebherr but left (I guess cashing in his shares) to start his own business. It's probably a decent guess that a fair chunk of his wealth came from the first career

Frank's cousin Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 As i understood it, He is still a part owner (Via family) but no longer on the board having left to start up his own engineering company... smart and successful man And yes there are a couple of drill like things on the M3... not that I noticed....
Fan The Flames Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Still havn't spotted my first one yet, been looking everywhere. I have a crane coming on one of my jobs in jan, I should have specified a Liebherr.

Kingsland Red Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 M3 roadworks at Light water Junction 3 ! OWTS
Cricketphilly Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Buying a new fridge in Currys last month, there were lots of Liebherr ones. Bloody dear too!
South Londoner Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I was in a small French village called Epoisse in September and saw a shop advertising Liebherr agricultural machinery in the window so I got the missus to take photo of me next to it.

But still retains a baulk of shares in Liebherr Int, which if they were ever taken over, could net Markus a possible £4-6 billion more for his kitty! Liebherr Int are currently worth £20,117.70 with no debt at all! Edited 17 December, 2009 by SOTONS EAST SIDE
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 About a month or a half ago I was on my way to an interview in London. Was on the M25 and passed a massive orange Liebherr truck. I felt at the time it was a good omen, and rested the nerves a bit. Also got the job, which was nice.
Johnny Bognor Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I recently came back from Munich and saw a few out there. I didn't break into song, but I must admit that I did have a smug grin on my face for a few minutes. A bit like this.....:smt040
RedAndWhite91 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I have to admit I was on the train from Winch to Southampton and just coming out the tunnel at Central there are a few Liebherr trucks which are being used in the engineering works. I had to have a smile, as it reminded me of Liebherr's involvement in saving us, and it was a matchday, but I confess I did not burst out in song.
chocco boxo Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I also remember being in Amsterdam this summer for the England game and seeing two or three Liebherr cranes, and again, a great big smile was plastered across my face. Barfy Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I saw a Leibherr lorry parked up next to the local diy store on saturday. Made me smile, even though I am fully aware it's not directly linked to Markus anymore
mancsaint Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Recently spent time in Basel,Switzerland and saw many Liebherr cranes around the city plus saw quite a few on my trips through Alsace and the Black Forest. Took photos of most and I almost had a permanent grin. My Swiss non football mate was totally perplexed. Mancsaint

RonManager Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 We've got a Liebherr freezer, don't think it's the same branch though. Has it got stabilizers and a 30 foot jib sticking out the top?
Saint_Jonny Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I saw a Leibherr cement mixer lorry once. True story.
Window Cleaner Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Has it got stabilizers and a 30 foot jib sticking out the top? It is stabilised by the vast quanties of frozen Mars bars, mince pies and diverse pastries inside it. Right at the top there are 2 lobsters which do seem to have some sort of antenna sticking upwards, can't be 30 ft long though otherwise the lid wouldn't close..

St Landrew Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Of course it happens to other people. Just like when you get a new car, they suddenly pop up everywhere. As it happens, I have a friend who has both a Leibherr fridge and freezer. And they are nothing to do with our Leibherr either. But they're from the same family of Leibherrs, just as the cranes, trucks and forklifts are, so there is a little link. Our Leibherr is a leader in common-rail diesel engine research. So if you have a brand new car with a common rail diesel engine in it, chances are that some of your hard earned went to Saint Markus.
Trumush Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 For all you local Liebherr crane spotters all you need to do is look at our very own container terminal where you can find three of the beautys, the three big one's in the middle. Still think the purchase of those three fairly recently, and the purchase of our football club is no coincidence even though as has been pointed out our Marcus is no longer directly involved with the family company.

Wife's got one of those, but she's a research botanist so don't know about "hard-earned. "
St Landrew Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Wife's got one of those, but she's a research botanist so don't know about "hard-earned. " But think of all those years of pubbing and cramming, getting her degree, post grad, etc... That must have been tough.
Blandford saint Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 We own an excellent wine storage fridge from Liebherr. Absolutely brilliant - holds several hundred bottles, and each shelf is a different temperature so that you can store every kind the correct way.
CanadaSaint Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I saw one all the way out here a couple of months ago. My wife thought I'd reverted completely to my childhood (instead of just partially) when I got irrationally excited about a crane. I could have saved myself with a smart comment about erection but chose not to go there.
KK the 2nd Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I haven't experienced quite the same level of excitement as others though I can't help noticing their cranes now and pointing out to the anyone in the car that that's a Liebherr crane. Never had any awareness of cranes or the Liebherr name until this summer.
Frank's cousin Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Seems lioke an addiction to me... Maybe I will write a book about it and call it 'Cranespotting' ...I'll get my coat
Dark Munster Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I had a dream where I saw Liebherr bulldozers demolishing Krap Nottarf after P****y were wound up.
St Landrew Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Always find this clip amazing. Quite a demonstration of the weight and density of water, admittedly with a lot of potential energy released from height. But for anyone who wonders how ships manage to stick so far out of the water, when so little is beneath the surface, this gives you a bit of a clue.
