Crab Lungs Posted 15 September, 2008 Share Posted 15 September, 2008 Roman Pavlyuchenko. Aside from the rest of the squirty, unpolished turds on display v Villa tonight, I don't think I've seen such an inept performance as Pavlyuchenko's this evening (although Corluka run him pretty close...) £13.4m, or roughly a third of Berbatov has been spent on this ruskie clogger who displayed an absolutely shocking ineptitude for football as I've ever seen in recent seasons. Christ, I'd rather have had Vladimir Putin upfront than him. Can't pass, can't shoot, can't head, can't run... I would say I feel sorry for Spurs, but I don't. I hope Martin Jol is pouring himself a nice german red as I type this... (apart from the above, has anyone else seen such a pathetic as debut as this...?) Crab Lungs Posted 15 September, 2008 Author Share Posted 15 September, 2008 Alan Bennett Vs Palace?? Unfortunately I did not witness this, although I did at a later stage witness a Makin/Bennett centre half "dream-team" which was as close to a footballing nightmare as I've ever been... Gemmel Posted 15 September, 2008 Share Posted 15 September, 2008 It's another Karel Pobosky signing.....good Euro's and then someone spunks a load of dosh on them.... he missed more than he scored in the Euro's .... the signs were there.
Saint Keith Posted 15 September, 2008 Share Posted 15 September, 2008 watched the game and agree he was shocking, but so were the whole spurs team for about 75 minutes

Johnny Shearer Posted 15 September, 2008 Share Posted 15 September, 2008 mediocre, and thats being generous Interesting. As he played well for Wales last week. Shame, may have to shift him out of my fantasy football team.

Saint Martini Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 It's another Karel Pobosky signing.....good Euro's and then someone spunks a load of dosh on them.... he missed more than he scored in the Euro's .... the signs were there. Guus Hiddink was very critical of him (and also several other Russian players) before the Euro's because they weren't in a good physical shape even though they were in the middle of the season. Pavlyuchenko then had to do fitness training on his own for a few weeks before he was allowed to train with the rest of the team again. If Pogrebnyak had been fit I think Pavlyuchenko would have been send home, but without him Hiddink didn't really have a choice. But to connect this little story to the here and now, I would not be at all surprised if Pavlyuchenko is nto fit at all.
Rory Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 He was clearly a panic buy. I agree he was woeful but I would have to say that Corluka's performance was worse. It was borderline embarrassing. Pavlyuchenko didn't have the best service from a shambolic midfield which seemed to look a lot stronger once Modric was replaced by Jenas. I was very impressed by Villa yesterday and I am glad they gave Spurs a spanking. Bent was awful, Bale average, Gomes was lol. The only Spurs player that looked any good was Lennon and even his delivery was poor. Ramos's inability to learn the English language, even the basics, will cost them dearly. Poyet is hardly the most inspiring of players/coaches/managers and it seems that the authority Ramos may have had in Seville just isn't rubbing off on this bunch. Will Levy have the balls to sack him? It's funny that Martin Jol's Hamburg are top of the German league.
Dicko Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 I was very impressed by Villa yesterday and I am glad they gave Spurs a spanking. Agreed. There's no getting away from it - Martin O'Neill is a brilliant manager. Villa have a fairly small squad in comparison to others, but O'Neill uses that to his advantage. They seem to have fantastic team spirit, lots of pace up front and look a strong unit. If we are to see a shock this season and a team breaks the into the top 4 - I think Villa are most likely to do it.
stevegrant Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 Ramos's inability to learn the English language, even the basics, will cost them dearly. I'm not entirely sure it's an inability to learn it, I think he doesn't want to learn it! Poyet is hardly the most inspiring of players/coaches/managers and it seems that the authority Ramos may have had in Seville just isn't rubbing off on this bunch. That and the players Commoli has signed for him have been mostly turd. It's funny that Martin Jol's Hamburg are top of the German league. If Spurs hadn't lost Frank Arnesen to Chelsea, him and Jol together would probably have consolidated their then position of 5th, widening the gap below them and probably closing the gap above. Commoli is the main problem Spurs have. He is in charge of transfers, and he's been ****ing rubbish at it.
Saint_clark Posted 16 September, 2008 Share Posted 16 September, 2008 Awful player, couldn't understand it when people were saying he was who Spurs were replacing Berbatov with.
