GenevaSaint Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/8414235.stm That map of candidate cities is a travesty for the South. With upto 18 stadiums being named I guess most will be selected, with London get 3 or 4 as in the article. Fair play to Plymouth and Milton Keynes for having councils with the balls to bid. I was reading up on Plymouths bid, and if we win the world cup bid they will upgrade their stadium to 48k....seriously, how can they sustain that? their average attendance is only about 10k, a stadium that size for a team like plymouth would be embarrassing. IF, they got into the premier league...with all those people to haul in, they would get big crowds quite easily.. many, MANY service personnel would get season tickets for a start... Thats a bloody big IF though, they're much more likely to be in League 1 or 2 by 2018 than they are the Premiership. Fair play to em for bidding though. stevegrant Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 4 of the 15 stadia don't even exist at the moment, and another (the Olympic Stadium) isn't going to be suitable when it gets mostly demolished after the 2012 Games. What a shambles.
