bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Posted 16 December, 2009 Real cricket is back, and a great start for England, putting South Africa in and Broad gets Graeme Smith for a duck. Huge wicket. 4/1 now.

bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Author Posted 16 December, 2009 44-1 now. SA digging in, not really many chances for England. One close lbw decision correctly given not out.
bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Author Posted 16 December, 2009 And now an lbw decision given out, but overturned on referral. I will leave out my diatribe about the utterly pathetic use of technology in sport!
Hatch Posted 16 December, 2009 Posted 16 December, 2009 And now an lbw decision given out, but overturned on referral. I will leave out my diatribe about the utterly pathetic use of technology in sport! but was it out?
bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Author Posted 16 December, 2009 Out! Amla edges to 2nd slip off Onions. 51/2.
saints_is_the_south Posted 16 December, 2009 Posted 16 December, 2009 Great start. Anybody know of any decent streams online to watch, stuck in the office atm!
Pancake Posted 16 December, 2009 Posted 16 December, 2009 Great start. Anybody know of any decent streams online to watch, stuck in the office atm! On Five Live Sports Xtra online, audio only.
bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Author Posted 16 December, 2009 Lunch 70/2. Pretty even morning session. Having put them in, one would hope we could at least have them 9 down by close of play today. Kallis is the key man now.
Pancake Posted 16 December, 2009 Posted 16 December, 2009 Or here: http://azsportz.blogspot.com/ Lunch at the moment.
bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Author Posted 16 December, 2009 Out! Prince gone caught at slip off Swann, who has finally been brought on. 90 something for 3 now.
bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Author Posted 16 December, 2009 Sharp run out chance by Cook fielding short, just missed the stumps and batsmen had got back in by the time Prior whipped off the bails. 131-3 Kallis looking dangerous.

saintwarwick Posted 16 December, 2009 Posted 16 December, 2009 159/4 at tea, danger man De Villiers out just before tea.
bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Author Posted 16 December, 2009 Kallis in total control, nearing his hundred.
bungle Posted 16 December, 2009 Author Posted 16 December, 2009 262-4 at the close. An tough day of cricket, with SA ending on top, especially as they were put in to bat.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 16 December, 2009 Posted 16 December, 2009 England a bowler short. Don't see the point in playing an extra batsman if it's Bell. Might as well play another bowler who can bat a bit.
bungle Posted 17 December, 2009 Author Posted 17 December, 2009 Day two has begun. Meanwhile in Perth, Chris Gayle scores 102 off 72 balls for WIndies against Australia.
bungle Posted 17 December, 2009 Author Posted 17 December, 2009 Kallis edged and gone from Anderson. 120 for Kallis. 283-5.
bungle Posted 17 December, 2009 Author Posted 17 December, 2009 Duminy gone, 316-6. Collingwood with his 4th catch.
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Boucher just dropped by Onions on the boundary.
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Not had much luck with referrals. Another not out.
bungle Posted 17 December, 2009 Author Posted 17 December, 2009 341-7, Morkel caught behind off Onions. Need to clean up the tail quite quickly I reckon. And we will have to post a larger 1st innings score than them to have any chance of winning.
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Boucher out, at last, for 49. Swanny on fire!!!
Thedelldays Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 is it me, or are England always playing cricket...finish one series then straight into another
saints_is_the_south Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 is it me, or are England always playing cricket...finish one series then straight into another Not really, certainly not test series anyway. The last test series finished on 23rd August & the next one started on the 16th December. So a break from test cricket of just under 4 months, enough I'd say.
Thedelldays Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Not really, certainly not test series anyway. The last test series finished on 23rd August & the next one started on the 16th December. So a break from test cricket of just under 4 months, enough I'd say. what about all the other games inbetween
saints_is_the_south Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 what about all the other games inbetween Well the 20/20 series in SA started on the 13th November, over a month after England's last game which was 1 day game in the ICC at the start of October so a break of over a month. I was only referring to test cricket though.
the stain Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 I was only referring to test cricket though. There's no point referring to anything else as cricket
saints_is_the_south Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 South Africa all out for 418, Swanny with a 5 wicket haul, Onions took 3 & 1 a piece for Broad & Anderson. England just started their innings, 3 for no wicket.
the stain Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 Another masterful innings by Cook then? Where's Orn..?
bungle Posted 17 December, 2009 Author Posted 17 December, 2009 When I left the pub Cook had just scored two excellent boundaries and was looking in good shape. When I got back to the office (about 2 minutes later) he was out. Hmmm. Should've stayed in the boozer.
bungle Posted 17 December, 2009 Author Posted 17 December, 2009 England 88-1 at the close. Seen off the end of the day pretty well. Now to bat all day tomorrow!
krissyboy31 Posted 17 December, 2009 Posted 17 December, 2009 As an aside, how good was Chris Gayles' 70 ball century v the Aussies? :prayer:
krissyboy31 Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Strauss out to the third daisy cutter of the morning from Ntini.
ChrisPY Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Strauss out to the third daisy cutter of the morning from Ntini. Why can he not bat at the start of a new day??
saints_is_the_south Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Trott gone also, currently 143-3, KP on 29.
Hatch Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 also , LOL at Aussies v W.Indies. Although they should still win they are 137-8 after not enforcing follow on. So, there is still a chance they could lose.
the stain Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Why can he not bat at the start of a new day?? TBF he got a couple that you just couldn't play. Looks like the wicket might be turning interesting.
the stain Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Shyte. Pietersen out, Bell in. Was there ever a phrase more redolent of misery?
Son of Bob Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Ian Bell is an idiot of the highest order. Ball coming straight at wickets, from a spinner that has been bowling arrow straight all day, Ian Bell lifts his bat and leaves it. Guess what, he gets bowled. Cricket genius...
krissyboy31 Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Good job they played Bell instead of an extra bowler. eh?
Son of Bob Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Who needs Luke Wright when you can have Bell(end)?
Crab Lungs Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Jeeeesus, why do we persist with players like Bell who never perform?
the stain Posted 18 December, 2009 Posted 18 December, 2009 Jeeeesus, why do we persist with players like Bell who never perform? Because whenever England drop him he goes away and 'does it for his County'. Somehow, in the minds of the selectors, this always says 'Recall!' rather than 'good County player'.
