Smirking_Saint Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 TBH, i would absolutely love it if rage gets to number one. What annoys me the most is the media disregarding the RATM charge as an anti X factor. I watched BBC's morning programme with Joe mcelldry (or whatever) on it and they were saying are you upset that this Facebook group is trying to steal your number 1 ??? Since when is it given that the X Factor single has to be number one ?? Hearing what Simon Cowell and the like are saying makes me want this more TBH. Saint_clark Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 I heard someone say that they are buying RATM because they don't like "mainstream". Is it only me that thinks it sounds really childish and attention seeking to say something like that? Seems to be sh*t loads of people deciding to buy this record just because it's the "cool" thing to do.
St Marco Posted 20 December, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 December, 2009 I think a lot of people bought it for various reasons. To begin with it was just an alternative to what was on offer. Like sort of how channel 4 do an alternative christmas message. But as it grew in popularity i think we got all types of groups, some good some not so good. But i think the far majority of the people who got involved just wanted a change. In a way even though it is about music, the actual 2 songs are not important. It is sort of the principle of how those songs came to be, both created for very different purposes. As Tom mentioned theirs was made while they were roughing it in the slums of LA. Where as Joes was written by a very well paid writing production group at Disney for someone else. Even if we do win it won't really change anything. The reality shows will still come, they will still be un-avoidable in your daily lives. Just hopefully now they might realise that while a lot of people like these shows, there are also a lot of people who have had enough of them. And maybe it is time to cut back on them, try something different. Of course they won't do that while suckers pay a quid a time to register a vote. Easy money. ART Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 I think one needs to live overseas to realise how much folk living in Little Britain these days are so quick to sell their own down the river. Protest by all means against big brother, against the likes of XFactor and Cowell, but surely for the sake of our own national identity we could have all got behind many a real music British band or artist to seal the number one at Christmas. Not so long ago Pink Floyd brought out a far more appropriate number. "The Wall" Surely words like "Leave those kids alone" is far more appropriate to what is going on in the name of Cowell and XFactor than f*CK, F*CK, F*CK over an over. Even Lily Allen's "F*CK YOU" sent out a far stronger message and is British. F*ck you (F*ck you) F*ck you very, very much Cause we hate what you do And we hate your whole crew So please don't stay in touch F*ck you (F*ck You) F*ck you very, very much Cause your words don't translate And it's getting quite late So please don't stay in touch At least Mister Cowell's Empire is proving to the Yanks that British has talent and can do anything they do far better. Thedelldays Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 every year, X-Factor is geared up to take the Number 1 spot at Xmas... just spoon feeding the masses... if Joe's song was NOT on X-factor, would it get to No.1 at any time of the year..? probably not
RedAndWhite91 Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 Has it been noted yet that RATM are signed to Epic, a subsidiary of Sony, who the XFactor lad is signed to? Still, I bought my copy, just because I plain hate XFactor.

JackFrost Posted 20 December, 2009 Share Posted 20 December, 2009 listening to that x factor winner's song. I just can't help singing "and make it evergreen" when he gets to the end of the chorus. IMO I think this is the beginning of the end for the x factor. It's reached it's sell by date and I bet there'll be a similar campaign next year, and the year after that and the year after that. (Who obviously (thank fook) has never watched X Factor as it is not on down here - as good a reason to emigrate as Politics & taxes IMHO) Anyway, the classic response was - You British, no wonder nobody can understand your sense of humour, why is this funny? are Rage Against the Machine something to do with Monty Python? Cue an attack of the ROFL's - which means I'm sleeping on the doormat again tonight But worth it
