aintforever Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 I don't think he will go anywhere, I can't see a Prem club taking a punt on a League 1 player and I doubt any Championship club could afford what Saints would want for him. Poaching a player from Saints owned by a billionaire is very different to poaching a player from a skint Saints run buy a bean counter.
krissyboy31 Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 2nd post wasnt quite accurate - Our very own Paul Jones was given dispensation to play for his third club in a single season. There is a rule but you can appeal against it. Goal keepers can get special dispensation to play under the "emergency loan" system because of their specialist position. Rod Le Shearer Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 who in the championship can afford him ? only QPR,and even they will be reluctant to fork out 3 million for him. cause he wont be leaving for anything less than that, even if he could play for three clubs in a season ! Secret Site Agent Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 HE CANT PLAY FOR ANOTHER CLUB THIS SEASON. Where is the confusion here? Yes, but can he play for another club this season? I'm confused!! (I am just jesting,) Yes it is pretty clear cut that even if he gets bought, he cannot play for anyone. So he would spend the next 9 months sitting on his behind, playing no games and being a crap investment. Job done Case Solved

When he came here he said that promotion this season would be a bonus and they would be looking at next season so he is here for the long haul. Genk Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 It's understandable yet frustrating that people believe that our best players are going to move on in January or next Summer. People need to realise that we no longer need to sell players. They will only go if the manager feels they don't want to play for the club anymore, therefore need to move on as their head isn't focused on us. I understand that people will worry about Lambert moving on based on the past, i.e Bale, Walcott etc but we no longer need to worry. Other clubs should be worried about us taking their best players. If you read the thread you will see most people don't think he will go anywhere and certainly not in January. However, you are kidding yourself if you think that we will hold on to all of our best players. Whilst perhaps there is no financial requirement to do so, every player has his price and the reality is that it is down to the player. If we dont make the play offs this year and don't look like automatic contenders, next season, what do you expect Lallana and co to do when the Prem boys come knocking. Things are certainly much much better than they were, but we will still lose some of our best players.
Thedelldays Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 I think the question needs to be asked... can he play for another clun this season..?

What makes you think that he is only worth a measley 3 mil. To me and I would think a club that does need to sell would not sell for anything less than 5 mill. People may think that's stupid but I truly beleive if we have no reason to sell then it is going to take a ridiculous bid to part with him. How much would we have to pay to replace 30 goals a season? trousers Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 Why do the FA have such an arbitrary rule when surely the transfer window system is restrictive enough. Rules for rules sake again

Not if the player wants to go not sure SFC have sold many who did not want to go except possibly Surman .

If ManU cannot guarantee being able to hang onto players, what possible magic fence do we have to keep hold of players. We have no financial pressures to sell, but even Lallana would go should he wish it with his contract running out.
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 Pardew and Lambert both to QPR Why would you move to a SMALLER club?? don't be daft!
Bailey Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 Lambert's going nowhere. Guys, Southampton is a good club to be at at the minute. Expect a big name or two to come through the door in January.
musesaint Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 what are the chances of us keeping Lambert in January? I wouldn't mind betting there are championship clubs interested not to mention a club in the vein of a Hull/Burnley Biggest danger may be Everton apparently
