Motion sensor lights.

Hello, I have no idea where else to ask this question so I am putting it here.

 

I want to have led lights running alone the skirting board in my hall, that are connected to a motion sensor at the end of the hall/above the door so that when I walk in the lights come on and illuminate the floor.

 

I am having real trouble finding the right kind of sensor for the job, anybody on here have any ideas?

 

Granted this might sound stupid but if I can get something working right I can expand it to other things, like kitchen cupboards lighting when open etc.

In my last flat the hallway didn't have any windows, so there were sensors which set the lights off in there.

you need a p.i.r sensor. Passive infrared
