Matthew Le God Posted 15 December, 2009 Posted 15 December, 2009 Thedelldays said: I would say they are first team players and would be fine That is not the rule for the JPT though. The rule is you get a list of all Southampton players and order them by how many 1st team games they have played this season. 6 of the team for a JPT game HAVE to be in the top 11 players. This rule is to stop teams playing very weakened sides.

However, what you seem to be forgetting is the way you can get round these rules by suggesting players were injured/unavailable for other reasons. I'm pretty sure that team would be fine. Rules like this only get enforced in extreme cases.

Work it out for yourselves http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/Appearances/0,,10280~200910280,00.html You seem to need at least 6 of Davis,Harding,James,Hammond,Trotman,Wotton,Schneiderlin,Lambert,Jahdi, Thomas and Lallana You have to play Bart because Davis isn't fit so you need at least 6 of the other 10, which strictly limits your options for fielding the reserve side you suggest.

Hatch Posted 15 December, 2009 Posted 15 December, 2009 LOL at Lambert trying to pick our team, or at least persuade AP to rest players "It's hard to say what way they're going to go, I know in the last round when they played Charlton they lost their next league game due to a bit of fatigue."

I'm not sure how this rule works with injuries, I'd guess injuries are ignored otherwise people could circumvent this rule by just saying the best players are all injured. In any case Kelvin is back in training.

Apparently Neal Trotman has a total of 14 appearances (1 being as a sub) and Neil Trotman has played twice.

Matthew Le God Posted 15 December, 2009 Posted 15 December, 2009 (edited) Thedelldays said: what if we had 4 players in the top 11 injured..does that mean we play with 6 No, it would mean you use the 7 of the 11 regulars plus 4 other players. Not a problem it the slightest. The only grey area that I'm not sure about is when you have 6 players in the top 11 injured. I'd imagine that is highly unlikely though. In that case the Football League would probably check if the injuries are genuine and give you special dispensation to play with fewer than 6 regulars. Edited 15 December, 2009 by Matthew Le God

krissyboy31 Posted 15 December, 2009 Posted 15 December, 2009 Of the top 11 (appearance wise), Davis, Trotman, Wotton and Thomas aren't currently in the first team. So if we play Trotman, Wotton and Thomas, we only need 3 of the others (say Jaidi, Lambert and Lallana) and we are fielding a team that qualifies under the competition rules but in theory, still resting 7 of our current first XI (Bart of course has to play).

Hmmm, so Hypo's projected team is almost legal, with 5 players from our most used 11. Only one change needed then. Bart Thomas Perry Trotman Mills Antonio Wotton Mellis Lallana Papa Lambert
keithd Posted 15 December, 2009 Posted 15 December, 2009 crazy as this is going to sound, actually maybe its not that crazy given how well we've played lately, but im up for a d*cking tonight. so to speak. 4-0; 5-1 SFC.

Hmmm, don't think there will be as many walk ups tonight due to the match day prices. £18 for adults & £15 for seniors/young adults is pretty steep for this competition imo. There is also no discount for ST holders buying on the night either.

I think this competition is important to the club. plus as the club are promoting their betting service on the OS, I would be extremely hacked off if they turned out a second rate side after encouraging me to wager my hard earned on winning (not that I'm likely too,cos I never do, don't believe in betting) Edited 15 December, 2009 by Window Cleaner

I want a strong team tonight but I understand that some players should be rested.
saints_is_the_south Posted 15 December, 2009 Posted 15 December, 2009 Been told its snowing in town so a word of warning to everyone going to wrap up warm! He looked a bit of quality once or twice last season, that being said if AP doesn't think he is good enough I am not going to second guess him.
