Norwich City build up...

Just to add another contentious opinion in here.....if you had to pick one player you couldn't afford to be without against Leeds (and thus resting him from tonights game)....who would it be?

My vote goes for Bart!!

....but there again I'm a gambling man so I would just pick our strongest available side (meaning 100% fit players so if anyone was carrying a knock I would rest them).

With regards to the "amnesty" at the end of the month for players with 5 bookings....wouldn't it make more sense to have the amnesty based on how many games they had played, rather than a time frame? Maybe if a player gets to 20 games without a suspension they get a card "dropped off" the list and then for every 5 games they then lose another one.

Sorry if someone has already raised this - its late, I can't read every post in full ....

I saw earlier a comment that Ap is likely to rest the 4 players on 4 yellows as he wants to take a full strength side to Leeds. Concerned. I'd like to win this match as it gets us closer to our day out at Wembley and silverware in the cupboard. I'd chance it. If any of them get another booking and suspended for the weekend, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Let's go for the win.

Genuine question: is there any intel on whether Norwich will field a strong XI or shove out what amounts to a reserve or youth side?

Make of these what you will...

1) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/norwich/8412866.stm

3) Norwich have rested as many players as the rules allow in previous rounds

If Grant Holt doesn't play we will win.

I expect to see him on the bench and should it be tight towards the end he may come on to have a crack. Other than him we have quite a lot of strength in depth compared to a mjority of teams at this level imho.

Draw at 90 mins and then go out on pens.

The league has to be our main thrust this season. We have put ourselves in the position to push onto the play offs, so frankly a day out at Wembley would wonderful, but at the play offs final 29th May 2010.

We do not need three more games; it's three more games that risk injury and suspension to key players. OK rest the 5 key players and if we win well do the same in the area final, but we must rest our key players for the league matches.

After Saturday and the spirit and atmosphere of the occasion, I want to go tonight, but seeing as the game is only three and a half hours after my operation to have two wisdom teeth removed, I don't think i'll be in any fit state to attend. So please roar on the team for me and help them get the win which will make me feel a lot better.

No, we have complete thickos that have no grasp of what really is going on. Has anyone seen them complete and utter tools that wear santa hats at away games? The ones that sing the Laurel and Hardy song at the stewards and shout "pork" inbetween it. Well that is the sort of reply one of them would come up with. PORK PORK PORK FFS

They were stood nearby me at Northampton. Seemed to find themselves highly amusing. No one else did.

I might be wrong but i thought that a suspension for collecting yellows kicks in 7 days after not straight away. It's only red cards that mean the ban starts from the next game?

I think you're right actually. Cards from tonight leading to a total of 5 would not

mean a suspension until next Tuesday. Good spot,so the players involved would miss the boxing day game (ie 26th December cos to me that's Boxing Day) against Exeter. Nowhere near so onerous as missing the Leeds game. Serve 1 game and come back sharp and rested for the Colchester match. Cue me up 5 yellow cards tonight then.

We should go all out for a win tonight - but we have to start the game in a positive determined mind-frame, not like we did against Tranmere (in the first half) when the players looked like they were suffering from a morning-after-office-party, and distinctly seemed like they wanted to be elsewhere, miskicking all over the place!

Imho this is more important than against Leeds on Saturday because Leeds are so far ahead in the table that they are not going to dictate our season and play-off ambitions. And we will tonk them at St Marys anyway. But one game at a time.

I expect a win tonight, after an uncertain start (if Saturday is to go by) so 2-1

COYR!

And what happens if we appeal? Surely any suspension(s) would then have to wait until the appeal is heard, which will probably not be until January.

You sure about this? I'm sure when Trotman picked up 5 yellows earlier in the season it was applied immediately.

"the saints have injury problems"

No we don't

Yes we do, Davis & Murty.

With Harding, James, Jaidi, Hammond and Schniederlin all on 4 yellows and with the prospect of an automatic ban against Leeds I suspect at least 3 of those will be rested.

Norwich have hinted at not fielding a full strength team.

I am sure I heard Connolly was out on Solent last night, anyone else hear that?

My choice

Bialkowski

Thomas, Jaidi, Trotman, Mills

Waigo, Schniederlin, James, Lallana

Lambert, Connolly (or rest one of them and bring in Paterson)

On the bench Antonio, Wotton, Perry (rested ready for Leeds) Paterson (or the forward rested to give him a start) Forecast, Mellis, and Harding (just in case)

Looking at the squad list there is very little left. May be Holmes will feature somewhere?

On their Twitter feed but I haven't seen it anywhere else.

#saintsfc striker David Connolly is out of tomorrow night's JPT tie v Norwich with an injury. Trotman set to play - it's live on Solent.

Surely you have to rest Jaidi? If he is out for Sat then we have no chance.
If you rest him then put James at right back, move Thomas in to replace Jaidi and put Wotton in James place on my list (holding midfielder) leaving Waigo on the right midfield, bring in Mellis and just Lambert up front (Connolly rested or as seems to be reported on here, injured)
