Hamilton Saint Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 I can't think of a finer band. But from which era? The blues band that was Peter Green's FM? Or the slick pop-rock of Lindsay Buckingham's FM? Or another incarnation of the group?
BadgerBadger Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Peter Green for me - green manalishi, epic
saintkiptanui Posted 12 December, 2009 Author Posted 12 December, 2009 I can't think of a better band to cook roast dinner to and have a glass of red with the wifey, maybe Jimmy cliff if I'm in the moodle.
Aardvark Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 But from which era? The blues band that was Peter Green's FM? Or the slick pop-rock of Lindsay Buckingham's FM? Or another incarnation of the group? Peter Green - greatest british guitarist of all. FM Mark 2 would have been OK if they'd called themselves something else - Buckingham-Nicks or something - anything but Fleetwood Mac! For me the greatest example of Green's genius outside of the obvious (Man of the World, Green Manalishi, Oh Well etc.) try "Jumping at Shadows" from "Boston Blues" Live Album - peerless - makes Eric Clapton sound like the lightweight that he really was!
Hamilton Saint Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 All of it Hamilton. I liked much of the Fleetwood Mac and Rumours material (although Stevie Nicks was rather annoying) - especially Christine McVie's stuff, but I preferred the earlier bluesy material - especially the recordings when Peter Green was in the band.
saintkiptanui Posted 12 December, 2009 Author Posted 12 December, 2009 ahh nuts, I just like the poppy stuff. I'll never be a serious music man.

I've never heard that live LP recorded in Boston. How would you describe it? Are you familiar with the Fleetwood Mac in Chicago LP? It was recorded at the Chess Studios in 1969. Some of the great Chess bluesmen sat in on some of the sessions. The version I have of it is a double album (vinyl).
saintkiptanui Posted 12 December, 2009 Author Posted 12 December, 2009 What's 'chilli pop' Chilli with extra chilli, makes the wifey pop, not that I'm happy with that kind of behaviour, disgusting.

St Landrew Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 I can't think of a finer band. The Peter Green era was excellent in moments. The Rumours era was poppy and of wider appeal. But seriously, if you can't think of a finer band, then you're obviously not trying very hard.
St Landrew Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Wings, the band the Beatles could have been. What, if they'd quickly gone downhill, instead of disbanding, you mean..? Wings did make the odd memorable standard, but they honestly don't compare.

Lord Duckhunter Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 What about this band Eric Clapton George Harrison Ringo Jim Keltner Billy Preston And the great Leon Russell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-RiahNtyqw&feature=related What a band. You tube has to be the greatest website. (after TSF)
Seaford Saint Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Good to see the Youtube videos.. Peter Green is playing again after years living as a recluse. I have seen him live a couple of times in the last 10 years....once as support to the amazing B B King....all I can remember is that his band and him had improved an awful lot when I saw him second time around.
