spyinthesky Posted 11 December, 2009 Posted 11 December, 2009 Speaking to a Lincoln fan today. In his view young Pulis is ...'the least talented Imps player to pull on a Lincoln shirt in the past 5-6 years'.. Apparently his loan has been extended to 7th January with a rumour that Saints are paying his wages at Sincil Bank. The news hasn't been viwed with much excitement in Lincoln Still can't fathom out why the previous regime sanctioned the signing of Pulis and Forecast. Suggestion of some tax advantage on the Davies/Bale tranfers but surely this must have been offset by wages. However further north Ollie Lancashire seems to be a fixture at Grimsby but they appear to be heading out of the League so perhaps can't read too much into this.
Bailey Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Lancashire has actually been getting some decent press up at Grimsby and the general opinion amongst their fans is that he's been a decent signing. I get the impression they would like to see him stay until the end of the season at least but whether or not that happens, only time will tell.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 The news about Pulis doesn't surprise me, the sooner we offload him the better.
dannysfc Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 The news about Pulis doesn't surprise me, the sooner we offload him the better. Yeh I will have to agree with that there RedAndWhite91 as I would be more than happy to offload him from Saints and he can go to Lincoln or wherever aswell!
opthomps Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 good original post. You do wonder why those 2 were signed You might be right with saying makeweight with with other transfers deals. I remember reading that we got forecast instead of some cash from spurs i think. I doubt we will ever know the exact details. they are clearly both rubbish players anyway and hope to be shot of them soon. waste of squad numbers
Eastcowzer Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 The news about Pulis doesn't surprise me, the sooner we offload him the better. Offload him, to whom ?. Which club is THAT desperate.
Jamie The Saint Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Offload him, to whom ?. Which club is THAT desperate. Pompey will have him.
Nadia Sllim Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 I heard that Beattie told Pulis snr that the Stoke players wanted his son to play the part of the donkey in the Stoke City players Christmas nativity scene! This is why it all kicked off, obviously this is from a reliable source!
beatlesaint Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Offload him, to whom ?. Which club is THAT desperate. Exactly...wonder how long his contract is ? It would probably be better to cancel it cos if Lincoln dont want him who else is there ?
yarb101 Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 He hasn't even played for them for the last couple of weeks as he has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
saintjay77 Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 good original post. You do wonder why those 2 were signed You might be right with saying makeweight with with other transfers deals. I remember reading that we got forecast instead of some cash from spurs i think. I doubt we will ever know the exact details. they are clearly both rubbish players anyway and hope to be shot of them soon. waste of squad numbers I think its difficult to judge Forcast as I doubt many have seen him play. Not many have seen Poke play but most recognise he is one of the future so perhaps they are on a similar level? I was hoping that Pulis would se the move as a challenge and step up a gear to show that he has the right to play footy proffesionally rather than get a free pass cause his dad manages a prem team but it doesnt look like he has found his level yet. As with all transfers though, players are bought because they are supposed to be fantaastic, could be fantastic, ment to be the type of player a particular manager thinks the team need or in the right place at the right time. Its always a gamble. Man U took Forlan as there next goal machine! How many did he score there? The gambles taken in the past few years were all punts from way behind any sensible and rational thinking because the people in charge were desperate to turn things around. If one or two of those punts came off the pay back would have justified the effort. Say for instance the kids team had played with no fear and bagged a hatfull of goals in the 1st few games? they could of then gone onto that winning mentality and taken the league by suprise. Problem was when they didnt get the goals and they started conceding. Thats when they needed the experience around them to stop the games going the wrong way. Down hill from there. Now aday's it doesnt look like there will be many gambles although it may take a couple of years to get the likes of Pulis off the wage bill and fill the squad with quality from top to bottom.
Andy_Porter Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Pulis, Forecast and Molyneux are a special kind of ****. The sooner we get rid of those three the better. We probably won't be able to give them away, they really are that bad. Might be worth cutting our losses and just paying them off at some point.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Offload him, to whom ?. Which club is THAT desperate. I'm sure he'd fit right into a BSP or BSS team, who would be grateful to have a former League One player free of charge
Lazlo78 Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Would it be possible to have a "Loan watch" thread on this board as I have seen on several other footy boards? I'm always interested in hearing how our players out on loan are doing but the info is scattered across countless threads...
.comsaint Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 The news about Pulis doesn't surprise me, the sooner we offload him the better. Until my dying day - I will never...EVER...come to understand the reasons why we signed the lad. It's like the Lord Lucan vanishing...or the Marie Celeste mystery...or how Harry Redknapp never realised he actually owned a racehorse that was given to him...
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Until my dying day - I will never...EVER...come to understand the reasons why we signed the lad. It's like the Lord Lucan vanishing...or the Marie Celeste mystery...or how Harry Redknapp never realised he actually owned a racehorse that was given to him... Yep haha, it is definitely a mystery... We signed him on a free transfer, but who the hell recommended him to Poortvliet?! He was injured when we signed him as well...
Andy_Porter Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Poortvliet didn't sign any of our players, Lowe did all the buying and selling last season. Poortvliet just worked with the players.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Fine, who the hell recommended him to Lowe then?!
derry Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 Offload him, to whom ?. Which club is THAT desperate. East Cowes Vics?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 I'm sure Alresford Town would have him, watched them lose 5-1 in the FA Vase a couple of months ago. Ouch.
VectisSaint Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 East Cowes Vics? Cruel. The Vics were good enough for Nick Holmes, don't think Pulis is up to that standard Still he does seem to be collecting red & white striped shirts so I guess it is possible
S-Clarke Posted 12 December, 2009 Posted 12 December, 2009 He is only in football because of his dad, if his dad wasn't Tony Pulis he would be in a completely different profession, because let's face it - he cannot really play football.
