SNSUN Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 I'd rest the big players and play the fringe. Something like Bart, Murty, Thomas, Perry, Mills, Waigo, Wotton, James, Holmes, Patterson, Saga.
ericofarabia Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Was it Barrow in the 60's ?? They were still in the league at the time, Div 4 in old money. 66/67 season our first in top flight footie, 2-2 at theirs, 3-0 at ours. Over 24000 for the replay which was higher than many of our league games .... back in the days when the FA Cup was special.
macthesaint Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Play a strong team and go for the win. Luton will be up for it,they broke our hearts on a couple of cup occasions back in the day. I want to see us be professional and beat them.Keep winning habits.COYR
John B Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Was it Barrow in the 60's ?? Barrow were in the Football League until 1972
Scudamore Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Weakened side? This is the FA Cup people. Show some damn respect.
Shroppie Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Full strength team! This is a real potential banana skin. Luton have built quite a reputation in the last year as a cup side. They won the JPT last year, remember. We want to be in Round 4 and not lose the current buoyant confidence with a defeat to a non-league side.
The9 Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Mr A Ferguson Sir Matt Busby Way Old Trafford Manchester M16 0RA Dear Mr Ferguson.... Should be addressed to Sir Alex Ferguson too if I'm not mistaken. Makes the address and addressee look a bit weird though, all those peers at the start.
Scudamore Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Should be addressed to Sir Alex Ferguson too if I'm not mistaken. Makes the address and addressee look a bit weird though, all those peers at the start. Sarah Ferguson doesn't know sh:t about football...
scotty Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 I got asked to fax an order yesterday on letter-headed paper. How quaint! you should have offered to send it by carrier pigeon.
explorer saint Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Its only the FA Cup.. Ummm for some of us oldies the FA Cup does mean something and always will. Saints would not be the well known team across the world without it. We must win this, losing to a non league team at home could wreck our season and make us a laughing stock for years to come. I'm still getting over Tranmere and they were in the league
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Ummm for some of us oldies the FA Cup does mean something and always will. Saints would not be the well known team across the world without it. We must win this, losing to a non league team at home could wreck our season and make us a laughing stock for years to come. I'm still getting over Tranmere and they were in the league +1. I totally agree with you, the attitude that the FA Cup doesn't matter gets right on my nerves! However, I do now start to get annoyed with the constant 'magic of the FA Cup' references the BBC/ITV make EVERY year!
Painswick Saint Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 (edited) Luton will be no push over. Saw them play Forest Green earlier this sesaon, and they are really quite good for a Blue Square Premier team. They will be up for it, big time. If we play a weak team, I suspect this could be a very humiliating defeat Edited 9 December, 2009 by Painswick Saint
Andy_Porter Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 I'd rest the big players and play the fringe. Something like Bart, Murty, Thomas, Perry, Mills, Waigo, Wotton, James, Holmes, Patterson, Saga. You do realise we would lose playing that side?
Thedelldays Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Why are people so worried we are miles better than Luton ffs where have you been over the last 2 months?
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Why are people so worried we are miles better than Luton ffs where have you been over the last 2 months? Our first team might be but are the reserves?
Scudamore Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Our first team might be but are the reserves? The start of the season suggests no
Trader Posted 10 December, 2009 Posted 10 December, 2009 Was it Barrow in the 60's ?? They were a league side then.
SNSUN Posted 10 December, 2009 Posted 10 December, 2009 You do realise we would lose playing that side? I wouldn't be so sure - be good to see a few of the fringe fighting for a first team space. My point is to rest the big players like Lambert and Hammond - if we're not going to do it in the JPT, I still think we should do it for the FA Cup. Yes it's a big competition but it's another game where players can get suspended/injured. If we go out, we go out, though I don't think we will, even with the fringe.
Griffo Posted 10 December, 2009 Posted 10 December, 2009 Luton will be bringing a fair number of fans down, and they're a pretty rowdy bunch.
Um Bongo Posted 10 December, 2009 Posted 10 December, 2009 The FA Cup has given me the greatest memory of my club - Luton have turned over Rotherham, who are better then Northampton, 3-0. Full strength team and through to the 4th round please.
The Yeoman of beds Posted 10 December, 2009 Posted 10 December, 2009 Luton will be bringing a fair number of fans down, and they're a pretty rowdy bunch. They have only been given 1200 tickets initally
krissyboy31 Posted 10 December, 2009 Posted 10 December, 2009 They have only been given 1200 tickets initally They'll easily sell them and get a second tranche of 2k.
OldNick Posted 10 December, 2009 Posted 10 December, 2009 Luton will be bringing a fair number of fans down, and they're a pretty rowdy bunch. I agree.I have stood in with them and they sing constantly ,also with quite a bit of humour. My favourite is when eventually the ref gives them a free kick after their perceived bad luck and they sing 'it's a miracle, its a miracle.'
