Johnny Shearer Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 (edited) When was the last time we played a non league club at home in the FA Cup? Looking likely we will be in January now Hopefully they'll get through - thats a game I wouldn't mind seeing. Plus after the crazy way the FL penalised them they need the boost. beatlesaint Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 I assume if it is Luton at St Marys that the Chairman of The Football League will not be attending then ?
Ponty Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 Watching the Leeds game on ITV4. They're looking quite handy against Kettering but I don't think we should write off an away win next Saturday.
S-Clarke Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 Watching the Leeds game on ITV4. They're looking quite handy against Kettering but I don't think we should write off an away win next Saturday. by all accounts, Huddersfield should have won there on Saturday quite emphatically. they hit the bar 3 times and only conceded the goals through 2 goal keeper slips. they do look like they're walking the league, but if there is any team in the league to match them, it's us IMO.

Looking likely we will be in January now Non Leaguers do very well to get to the 3rd round - don't they whilst we were in Div 3 South in the 1950's..we used to start in Round 1 (like now) Nov.1954 rd.1 v. BARNET (then Athenian League amateurs) won 4-1 AWAY Dec. 1956 rd.2 we played WEYMOUTH at the Dell won 3-2 Nov.1957 rd.1 we played WALTON & HERSHAM AWAY won 6-1 (Reeves 4) Nov.1958 rd.1 v. WOKING (then FA Amateur Cup holders) won 4-1 at The Dell OTHER NON LEAGUE OPPONENTS : January 1939 we played CHELMSFORD CITY. and lost 1-4 but that was AWAY, thats all I could find. Matthew Le God Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 So not for 50 years then I thought it would have been a while. I started supporting Saints aged 7 in 1989 and couldn't remember any occasion in the last 20 years.

Can't recall which year they came into FL ? ..anyone ? and after that ...rd.4 jan.1986 v. WIGAN won 3-0 at Dell (they surely must have neen non-league then) , or ???? The game was postponed due to a frozen pitch (at plough lane) The game was re-arranged for the Monday night. It was quite a chaotic night. There was trouble with a load of Chelsea fans that turned up, and a there was a fire in a bush next to the burger bar at half time. There was also a hole in the pavement right outside the ground, where some gas main repairs or something were being done, the hole wasn't marked or anything, and a few people disappeared into into it during the crush getting out after the game.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 On the subject of Leeds- is that their first team keeper playing tonight? If so, I'm getting more optimistic!
S-Clarke Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 On the subject of Leeds- is that their first team keeper playing tonight? If so' date=' I'm getting more optimistic![/quote'] Casper ankergren, yep. He's been with them since their championship days.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 Casper ankergren, yep. He's been with them since their championship days. Ah cool cheers, don't really know many of their players tbh! Haven't watched the whole game but from what I've seen he's had to do, he's been dodgy at.
Ponty Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 Devastating 2nd half of extra time for Kettering. From 1-1 to 5-1 defeat in 15 minutes. ManU v Leeds.
