sadoldgit Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 I agree. I thought it was Forest away we beat in the final game?
Tamesaint Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 I thought it was Forest away we beat in the final game? No - deffo County. I remember , I was there.
The Majestic Channon Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 We did lose at home to Notts County and Nottm Forest but we lost a total of nine games that season. I have a feeling we lost to West Ham at home as well that season. If that is the case I was there for all those defeats. I'm sure i remember us beating forest at the dell in midweek before the skate cup game at farton .
Tamesaint Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 After the thread on the '76 cup run and who went to every game. I did it on this cup run, including the final (which unfortunately Saints didn't manage to match). I didn't do the Cup Final but I did make all of the Saints games. I don't think that I have ever felt so low after a match as I did after that semi. The pain of 2 relegations did not seem as bad as that cup defeat. After the match, I went for a pre arranged drink with a friend who had been there supporting Everton. It was not a great evening!!

Easter Saturday 2-0 completing the double over them.

We beat the Hammers at home 2-0 and away on Boxing Day 1-0....Like I said Kenny Armstrong, he was Fashanu's ***** that day .v. County, if Wright'd played - we'd've won, simple.
TijuanaTim Posted 9 December, 2009 Author Posted 9 December, 2009 This is the table and how we did .v. each opponent. (We got shafted on that 'bouncy-ball' plastic pitch at Loftus Road? When we got Joe Jordan next year we reversed the result) P GD Pt Res Res Home Away 1 Liverpool 42 +41 80 W2-0 D1-1 2 Southampton 42 +28 77 3 Nottingham Forest 42 +31 74 L0-1 W1-0 4 Manchester United 42 +30 74 W3-0 L2-3 5 Queens Park Rangers 42 +30 73 D0-0 L0-4 6 Arsenal 42 +14 63 W1-0 D2-2 7 Everton 42 +2 62 W3-1 L0-1 8 Tottenham Hotspur 42 -1 61 W5-0 D0-0 9 West Ham United 42 +5 60 W2-0 W1-0 10 Aston Villa 42 -2 60 D2-2 L0-1 11 Watford 42 -9 57 W1-0 D1-1 12 Ipswich Town 42 -2 53 W3-2 W3-0 13 Sunderland 42 -11 52 D1-1 W2-0 14 Norwich City 42 -1 51 W2-1 L0-1 15 Leicester City 42 -3 51 D2-2 L1-2 16 Luton Town 42 -13 51 W2-1 L1-3 17 West Bromwich Albion 42 -14 51 W1-0 W2-0 18 Stoke City 42 -19 50 W3-1 D1-1 19 Coventry City 42 -20 50 W8-2 D0-0 20 Birmingham City 42 -11 48 W2-1 D0-0 21 Notts County 42 -22 41 L0-2 W3-1 22 Wolverhampton Wndrs 42 -53 29 W1-0 W1-0
The Majestic Channon Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 I don't agree frank worthington was a weak link as some are suggesting, we needed flair as well as the pace of wallace and moran in the side, i would love to see some stats of how many chances frank created for the front men , ok he couldn't run but he did exactly what lawrie bought him to the club for, to feed moran and wallace with pin point precision which he did, another lawrie masterstroke i thought.
