Ponty Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Ahhhhhhh b*ll*cks. Typographical mistakes don't count.
badgerx16 Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Ahhhhhhh b*ll*cks. Typographical mistakes don't count. So if you miss an 's' it doesn't count, but if I miss a ' ' it does - double standards or what ?
Ponty Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 So if you miss an 's' it doesn't count, but if I miss a ' ' it does - double standards or what ? Ok, we'll trade the "s" and the "space". That still leaves you with 2 unnecessary commas and a missing full-stop.
mack rill Posted 7 December, 2009 Author Posted 7 December, 2009 Come on Mods,,,,,Mockney isn't Mockney if corrected.:smt008 Still no answer Dulldays, Whats up with our fizzy bullets?
Thedelldays Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 It is a 'skimmer' mate. They are all Shyt
Hamilton Saint Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 (edited) Ok, we'll trade the "s" and the "space". That still leaves you with 2 unnecessary commas and a missing full-stop. "Full-stop" shouldn't be hyphenated. "Ok" should be written as OK. Small numbers should be written with letters, not given as numerals. Edited 7 December, 2009 by Hamilton Saint
Ponty Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 "Full-stop" shouldn't be hyphenated. "Ok" should be written as OK. Small numbers should be written with letters, not given as numerals. Ok. I'll give you that 1.
Arizona Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 At the risk of being proven wrong and looking like a massive tool... I think "OK should be written as O.K." as it was originally an acronym. No idea what for though.
Ponty Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 At the risk of being proven wrong and looking like a massive tool... I think "OK should be written as O.K." as it was originally an acronym. No idea what for though. What about, "Okay"?
Hamilton Saint Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 At the risk of being proven wrong and looking like a massive tool... But OK is not an acronym and it is not an abbreviation.
Minty Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 Wow, what a fun evening you all had last night correcting each others' posts! But back to the thread... is Mack Rill inferring that Delldays is firing blanks?!

Master Bates Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 I still don't get it. But I thought you were married?
Simples Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 IIRC, OK was used in the old days when the old sailing ships came back from battle. A board would be put on the outside of the ship so people could see how many sailors had died on that particular voyage. So if say, for example, 8 people had been killed, or missing, 8K would be put on the board. If no-one had been killed, then 0K would be written on the board. So that would be good, as in okey, or, OK as it would look. Simples:cool:

Simples Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 Wrong but a good try nevertheless. Well thats what I saw on a documentry a while ago. Care to tell us what you think is the correct answer? Simples:cool:
RedAndWhite91 Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 There are so many attempted explanations for the origins of 'OK'. I think the ship one is a myth.
mack rill Posted 8 December, 2009 Author Posted 8 December, 2009 Has some lucky mosh given it to Jilly yet?:smt008
Master Bates Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 Has some lucky mosh given it to Jilly yet?:smt008 I still don't get it. Obviously not.
TopGun Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 There are so many attempted explanations for the origins of 'OK'. I think the ship one is a myth. I was told once that someone with the initials OK in the US Army was responsible for checking the gunpowder was dry in artillery shells before they were sent to the front line in WWI to be fired. So if it was alright it was OK. And it kinda stuck from there as so many soldiers saw OK written on the shells. No idea whether that is true.
Jillyanne Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 Obviously not. MB - you know for a fact that I am married, although he has been away for 5 weeks, back on Thursday morning.
