More likely to see Kevin Davies than Beatts, especially when it comes to playing ugly. Shall never forget Davies putting Ashley Cole out of action to allow Bridgey into the England team.
krissyboy31 Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Falling out over the Christmas Party? Is he planning to bring them down to the Dolphin, like he did Everton a few years ago?
Greenridge Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 What is it with 'masseurs' these days as well. The Hearts one got 'sent off' after yesterdays tunnel altercation with Hamilton Accies lol.
RonManager Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 What is it with 'masseurs' these days as well. The Hearts one got 'sent off' after yesterdays tunnel altercation with Hamilton Accies lol. Life's all about physical contact for them.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Get the feeling that Beattie would be hard to manage - always the 'leader' of the pranks and laughs but think he probably takes it too far in his plight to be 'Mr Popular'
Cricketphilly Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Life's all about physical contact for them. Do they get a fair rub?
CB Fry Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/stokecity/6749474/Stoke-manager-Tony-Pulis-and-James-Beattie-in-dressing-room-bust-up.html Can still see him returning to SMS one day Hope not. We're creating new heroes now, we don't need any old (and expensive) ones. Beattie was a mini-legend for what he achieved with us, but we move on.
doughnutman Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Im sure I read somewhere that he said he'd like to return to saints and finish his career with us?
Rory Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 As much as I loved Beattie playing for us, he will never be regarded as a Saints legend. Too much aggro and his part in the sacking of Luggy could have been a catalyst for our demise.
Prince Jazzbo Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 As much as I loved Beattie playing for us, he will never be regarded as a Saints legend. Too much aggro and his part in the sacking of Luggy could have been a catalyst for our demise. Hear hear. Plus he was looking to leave us as soon as he could. In the meantime during the first half of the season he kept Crouch out of the starting line up, even though his form was pretty poor and with hindsight, he may have done a better job and possibly kept us up. For example, we may have beaten Palace and West Brom at home. Although, I suppose Wigley could be to blame there for not dropping Beattie in favour of Crouch, also at that time we didn't think 'Crouchy was alright' because he hadn't scored that penalty.
Fan The Flames Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Get the feeling that Beattie would be hard to manage - always the 'leader' of the pranks and laughs but think he probably takes it too far in his plight to be 'Mr Popular' I love statements like this, not based in facts, just a 'feeling'.

You can only blame Wigley for that, the ****wit actually picked Dexter Blackstock ahead of Crouch at some point. You can't blame Beattie for wanting to leave after the jokers Lowe put in charge.
derry Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 I think the players had Monday off, but Pulis called them in to training. Beattie fell out with him, possible blows according to some reports. Stoke did train today but Beattie didn't show up. Stoke have issued a statement that they are convening an official enquiry into the incident.
dronskisaint Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 I'd have Beattie back in exchange for Pulis's nipper!
jam Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 As much as I loved Beattie playing for us, he will never be regarded as a Saints legend. Too much aggro and his part in the sacking of Luggy could have been a catalyst for our demise. I believe that it's been posted on here that BTs part in the Sturrock's exit has been rather exaggerated and it was actually a more senior player who knocked on Lowe's door.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Beattie went out with one of my old PE teachers for ages. Oh, and he won't come and play in League One.
Gordon Mockles Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Falling out over the Christmas Party? Is he planning to bring them down to the Dolphin, like he did Everton a few years ago? Doubtful, went to go in the other week only to see the place boarded up...SHUT DOWN! Sad sign of the times when you consider the history and time it's been there
Ponty Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Beattie went out with one of my old PE teachers for ages. Oh, and he won't come and play in League One. Why not? Sol Campbell went to League 2 and that worked out great.
Rory Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Would rather have Lambert and Connolly, who are both fitter and have a much better attitude. If he came back, he would probably act like Charlie big potato. We do not need this. Why is there so many on here calling out for players from the past? They never work out. I saw someone call out for Sajis in a thread today! Why can't we just move forward with new players and forget about the past 5 terrible years?
Sheaf Saint Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Maybe Pulis lost his cool cos Beattie was getting up his nose
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 I love statements like this, not based in facts, just a 'feeling'. hence why I said "just a feeling" rather than "I know for a fact"
ART Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Beattie went out with one of my old PE teachers for ages. Oh, and he won't come and play in League One. Male or female?
ottery st mary Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 I'd have Beattie back in exchange for Pulis's nipper! I think we would have to give Moly and Forecast as well to do the deal:D
RedAndWhite91 Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Why not? Sol Campbell went to League 2 and that worked out great. Haha, yeeeeaaahhhh. On a slightly more serious note, I reckon he'd come to us if/when we get back to the Championship, but I reckon he'd consider League One a too large a step down.
Fan The Flames Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 hence why I said "just a feeling" rather than "I know for a fact" That's my point, the four statements you made; hard to manage, always instigates the pranks, takes them too far, needs to be liked, are based on nothing other than a feeling. He's had a pretty long career at four clubs and not really caused much trouble.
The9 Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Daily Mail says Pulis tried to head-butt him. If you know the area Tony Pulis grew up in Newport you wouldn't even consider that he tried a head-butt... and didn't manage it.
Andy_Porter Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Would rather have Lambert and Connolly, who are both fitter and have a much better attitude. If he came back, he would probably act like Charlie big potato. We do not need this. Why is there so many on here calling out for players from the past? They never work out. I saw someone call out for Sajis in a thread today! Why can't we just move forward with new players and forget about the past 5 terrible years? Beattie would walk into any league one side and that includes ares, he'd get into most Championship sides as well, i'd be suprised if he had to drop down a league to get football. A team like Wigan, Hull or Burnley would love a striker with 100 premier league goals to his name. Nothing wrong with wanting to get a player back who impressed on loan for us. Just because it doesn't always work out doesn't mean it never will. We're desperate for a centre half or two, i'm not convinced Jaidi is anything special and at his age I doubt he'll be around much next season.
Toomer Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Why not? Sol Campbell went to League 2 and that worked out great. And he is available in Jan?
Eastcowzer Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Falling out over the Christmas Party? Is he planning to bring them down to the Dolphin, like he did Everton a few years ago? If he does then they had better wear overalls and hard hats as the Dolphin is covered in scaffolding and the builders have moved in.
kpturner Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Not so long as Alan Pardieu is in charge you won't!Sorry - but that made me giggle like a schoolgirl. Our manager is now French.
suewhistle Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Doubtful, went to go in the other week only to see the place boarded up...SHUT DOWN! Sad sign of the times when you consider the history and time it's been there What, the one in St Denys?
saint lard Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Beattie didn't train with his team mates today, instead he went to the gym at the Brittania Stadium.
Matthew Le God Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Those saying we should sign seem to forget he is probably on between 20k - 30k per week and we are in League One. Those that mention Sol Campbell forget he is 36. Beattie still has a few years left in him as a Prem player.
FloridaMarlin Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 There was an incident at Bournemouth years ago when Pulis was manager and fell out with, I think, Mark O'Connor. The player was holding a conversation in a corridor at Dean Court when a door was suddenly and mysteriously shoved open with great force, catching the player on the side of his face and cutting his head open. It was almost as if the person opening the door knew the player was stood behind it, and by opening it as he did, knew he would catch him. Unfortunately, the person the player was having a conversation with was a journalist. And the conversation just happened to be about how he had fallen out with the manager.
St Landrew Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 (edited) I believe that it's been posted on here that BTs part in the Sturrock's exit has been rather exaggerated and it was actually a more senior player who knocked on Lowe's door. Indeed. In fact it has been posted many times on this website, and the one previous to it, that Paul Sturrock confirmed that Beattie had nothing to do with his leaving SFC, or that another player was involved. It's actually in print somewhere, and if I thought it would change the rumour mongers opinions one jot, I might just bother trying to find it. But let's not let the truth get in the way of a good tasty bit of scandal, eh..? EDIT: Btw, I was on the point of moving this thread, but I believe I've actually made it Saints related myself. Secret Site Agent Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Beattie went out with one of my old PE teachers for ages. And this teacher, what was his name?
VectisSaint Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 And this teacher, what was his name? Ronald McMuffin
saint_bert Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Daily Mail says Pulis tried to head-butt him. Excellent. Suprised the Daily Mail didnt accuse Stokes overseas players for the "set to" between TP and JB!
saint_bert Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Clearly they were disagreeing over who was better: Saints or Pompey. Only one way to decide - FIGHT!!!! Not long to wait now
Whitey Grandad Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 And he is available in Jan? He's available now having come to an agreement with Notts County. He can sign for anybody but can't play until the transfer window opens. He's expensive and over the hill. If he were any good then clubs would be queueing up to sign him. So, Newcastle it is then.
bender Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 I met Beattie in Ayia Napa in 2000 along with Davies, Richards, Monk and Kachloul. Beattie shined as the prize ****.

Too much aggro and his part in the sacking of Luggy could have been a catalyst for our demise. It wasn't the sacking of Luggy that was the catalyst for our demise, it was the hiring of him instead of Hoddle !
Thedelldays Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 luggy should never have been appointed..he is fecking poor...
Thedelldays Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 It's not very often I can say this but I'm ITK and you're wrong. so PS is telling porkies then..? it is known down here (not through the press) that is was off field issues that led to his departure at SFC...NOT the players
