Thedelldays Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 who would you pick for SA..? Green James Robinson A.Cole Terry Ferdinand Upson Johnson Richards Lescott Lampard Gerrard Beckham Milner Barry J.Cole Walcott Lennon Carrick Rooney C.Cole Defoe Crouch
Andy_Porter Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 Assuming everyone is fully fit... Goalkeeper Kirkland Robinson Green Defenders Johnson Brown Terry Ferdinand King Jagielka A. Cole Gibbs Midfielders J. Cole Gerrard Lampard Barry Lennon Walcott Hargreaves Milner Strikers Defoe Crouch Rooney Heskey Bold would be my starting XI
Red Alert Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 Assuming everyone is fully fit... Goalkeeper Kirkland Bold would be my starting XI Thats a bit of a gamble. Not that its an easy decision for GK at the moment, I would say Green and Robinson would be my second choice.
RonManager Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 If he's ok after yesterday, look out for a late entry from Jimmy Bullard.
Thedelldays Posted 6 December, 2009 Author Posted 6 December, 2009 hargreaves..? when was the last time he was near a competitive game..?
Ponty Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 Assuming everyone is fully fit... Goalkeeper Kirkland Robinson Green Defenders Johnson Brown Terry Ferdinand King Jagielka A. Cole Gibbs Midfielders J. Cole Gerrard Lampard Barry Lennon Walcott Hargreaves Milner Strikers Defoe Crouch Rooney Heskey Bold would be my starting XI Who would pick Heskey over Crouch for the starting XI? In fact, I'd go as far as to say that I'd rather see Defoe and Crouch up front than Rooney and Heskey. I'd pick Rooney and Crouch though.
Um Bongo Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 Goalkeeper: Green James Foster Defenders: A.Cole Terry Lescott Johnson Bridge Upson Ferdinand Midfielders: Milner Walcott Gerrard Lampard Barry Young J.Cole Beckham Forwards: Rooney Crouch Defoe Heskey Owen
Arizona Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 Robinson Green Foster Johnson Richards Ferdinand Terry Upson Jagielka Cashley Lennon Beckham Gerrard Lampard Barry Carrick Cole Milner Rooney Crouch Defoe Heskey Beattie He's gonna have a brilliant second half of the season and net 20 goals for Stoke. If not, Bent.
Andy_Porter Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 Who would pick Heskey over Crouch for the starting XI? In fact, I'd go as far as to say that I'd rather see Defoe and Crouch up front than Rooney and Heskey. I'd pick Rooney and Crouch though. Fabio Capello. We where the top scoring side in European qualification with Heskey in the side. Was close between Crouch and Carlton Cole for me, which ever one of those two finishes the season strongest will get the fourth striker spot imo. hargreaves..? when was the last time he was near a competitive game..? I did write assuming everyone's fully fit.
Thedelldays Posted 6 December, 2009 Author Posted 6 December, 2009 i think milner will go..capello likes him and he is indeed a very good player...massively verstile also
Andy_Porter Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 i think milner will go..capello likes him and he is indeed a very good player...massively verstile also Agreed. He's come on leaps and bounds since he joined Villa. Probably a better all round winger than Ashley Young now.
Thedelldays Posted 6 December, 2009 Author Posted 6 December, 2009 Agreed. He's come on leaps and bounds since he joined Villa. Probably a better all round winger than Ashley Young now. he played an attacking centre mid role yesterday and was brilliant...another reason why he should go...can play down either flank and aldo down the middle if needs be.. I reckon he could do a good job at RB if required
RonManager Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 he played an attacking centre mid role yesterday and was brilliant... Lol - rumbled. So you went to Walsall but secretely sloped off to watch Villa eh?
sambosa75 Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 Probably the best thread for this rather than the one in the lounge... GK - Steve Harper (how he's not had a cap is beyond me, he is Englands best 'keeper bar none at the moment) GK - David James GK - Rob Green (best of a very bad bunch from Carson, Foster, Kirkland, Robinson etc..) RB - Glen Johnson RB - Wes Brown CB - Rio Ferdinand CB - John Terry CB - Matthew Upson CB - Joleon Lescott LB - Ashley Cole LB - Wayne Bridge MR - Aaron Lennon MR - David Beckham CM - Steven Gerrard CM - Frank Lampard CM - Gareth Barry LM - Joe Cole LM - James Milner ST - Wayne Rooney ST - Jermaine Defoe ST - Peter Crouch ST - Theo Walcott ST - Emile Heskey Standby - Paul Robinson, Phil Jagielka, Michael Carrick, Ashley Young, Michael Owen
Andy_Porter Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 Lol - rumbled. So you went to Walsall but secretely sloped off to watch Villa eh? Or he just watched motd?
SuperMikey Posted 6 December, 2009 Posted 6 December, 2009 GK - Ben Foster, Chris Kirkland, Paul Robinson RB - Glen Johnson, Micah Richards LB - Ashley Cole, Leighton Baines CB - John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott CM - Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Gareth Barry RM - James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips LM - Aaron Lennon, Ashley Young ST - Wayne Rooney, Jermaine Defoe, Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Theo Walcott/Gabby Agbonlahor And probably starting XI like: ------------Foster--------------- Johnson--Terry--Ferdinand---Cole ------------Gerrard-------------- Milner---------------------Lennon -----------Lampard-------------- --------Rooney--Bent/Defoe------ Subs: Everyone else. I think the diamond would work best for England, because it's the only way that Gerrard and Lampard can play together. I know Gerrard plays a more forward role for Liverpool, but aside from the defence he's the best tackler in the team. Not sure about starting Crouch up front, because although he's a good aerial target, I think Bent or Defoe would bring more to the team altogether. Rooney has to start, he's going to be key. Milner is having a cracking season, as is Lennon, and they both deserve to start over SWP and Young imo.

Green James Robinson A.Cole Terry Ferdinand Upson Johnson Richards Lescott Lampard Gerrard Beckham Milner Barry J.Cole Walcott Lennon Carrick Rooney C.Cole Defoe Crouch You only picked 22 and no real cover for cole but i would probably go for your squadbut drop milner and add wayne bridge and either bent or heskey

I love you're team but the day Gerrard actually stays in a position as opposed to going 'Roy of the Rovers' every single game is the day... erm, you get what I mean!
Andy_Porter Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Despite going unbeaten in European qualification and scoring the most goals by far you think we should ditch the 4-4-1-1 that's worked so well and go back to our world cup 2006 formation that was a disaster? That doesn't make any sense.

Saint Samuel Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Blogged about this when England sealed qualification back in October... http://doltonsdomain.blogspot.com/2009/10/thursday-15th-october-2009.html

saint_stevo Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Not sure how Owen can be in anyone's squads? On what basis?
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Not sure how Owen can be in anyone's squads? On what basis? Pretty decent goal scoring record for England. 89 games and 40 goals.
saint_bert Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Not sure how Owen can be in anyone's squads? On what basis? He was in my team when I first done it. Its that poachers instinct. Yes he is a bit part at Man Utd, Yes his best days are behind him Yes there are players in better for But........... You cant ignore his record on the internationl stage. Even though he is out of my side ive just done, its was the closet call I chose
L1Minus10 Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 James Green Kirkland - Foster nowhere near it, he's ****e ============= Johnson A.Cole Terry Ferdinand King - sicknote I know but will only play one maybe two games, best reserve CB we have Lescott - can cover left back Jagielka - can cover right back ================= Lampard Walcott - also a 5th forward Gerrard Barry Beckham Lennon Milner Hargreaves - if fit, Carrick is ****e J.Cole - if fit ============ Rooney Crouch Heskey - C.Cole if Heskey not playing for Villa at all Defoe
Thedelldays Posted 7 December, 2009 Author Posted 7 December, 2009 Pretty decent goal scoring record for England. 89 games and 40 goals. so has gary linekar... owen is past it...even fergie hardly plays him
saint_stevo Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 so has gary linekar... owen is past it...even fergie hardly plays him These are my thoughts on Owen. Would rather have Zamora in the squad
Thedelldays Posted 7 December, 2009 Author Posted 7 December, 2009 These are my thoughts on Owen. Would rather have Zamora in the squad the journos wet themselves when he gets his odd goal... they fail to mention that when he plays at the mo he misses so many chances and looks well out of place in a team like man u... rooney is light years ahead of him.. the days of just being a goal scorer are gone..you simply have to have more than that to be at the very top...
saint_stevo Posted 7 December, 2009 Posted 7 December, 2009 Scrap Zamora. Had a mental minute. Take AgbonlaWhore
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 8 December, 2009 Posted 8 December, 2009 the journos wet themselves when he gets his odd goal... they fail to mention that when he plays at the mo he misses so many chances and looks well out of place in a team like man u... rooney is light years ahead of him.. the days of just being a goal scorer are gone..you simply have to have more than that to be at the very top... Seeing as your wrong on most things regarding rating players and writing them off etc then Owen will get into the squad. If England get a last minute chance to win a game i know who i would want to take it and it would not be Darren Bent or Carlton Cole etc.

If England get a last minute chance to win a game i know who i would want to take it and it would not be Darren Bent or Carlton Cole etc. In fairness I woouldnt want it dropping to Wayne Rooney either. He is so over-rated it is unreal. Decent player but not amongst the worlds best. Jermaine Defoe is a more potent finisher than Owen and has more pace.

EBS1980 Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 I think Midfield is where all the competition for places is: Gerrard Lampard Carrick Barry Joe Cole Beckham Lennon SWP Milner Young Walcott Downing
