Pardew, credit

Just thought i would add those people who orgionally were saying the playoffs were saying so when we didnt have about 90% of our squad. Seeing as they were all brought in after the season started. I maintain that anyone who thought this club would get promoted with the players we had on that opening game were expecting way too much.

The team as it is with the commanding presence and experience of players like Hammond,Connolly,Lambert,Jaidi etc is obviously expected to do well.

Pardew has done very well. Those people who were on his back so early im sure regret that now.

if you cant laugh at yourself for getting something completely wrong on here...then what is the fun of this place..

(i have had to have a serious chuckle at some of the utter crap I have posted over the last 10 years)

I remember claiming "wotte will keep us up"....lol

Laughing at yourself is fine but when other posters drag up old threads from ages ago just to laugh at a post someone has made then I think it's pretty uncalled for. On another note, werent you the one who wrote off Plymouth as relegation certainties last season? :D

im sure SoG was aiming his little dig at the likes of me..

funny how I was hoping for/saying we should and could be going on these runs of forms and we SHOULD be going for the playoffs whilst people like him laughed, oh how they laughed at me for being.."unrealistic"...

funny how these people have the neck to have a dig at those who wanted/expected this from the moment we had a very rich owner and they brought someone in like pardew

Not just you :)

We were playing ok but without the talent we needed. If you look back, we started adding players after Pardew arrived. No surprise to me that we started winning when the transfer window closed...

Just take a look at the early season team sheets. It's frightening.

do you really think that us unrealistic types thought that our new super rich owner was going to bring in someone like pardew and tell him to work with what was there...

lol

Thing is DD (and this is not personal) I think that thread was very badly timed. AP had only been in the job a short while and was obvioulsy still getting his act together.

But I do think there are some here (not you) who like to see us fail and revel in the negativity and it is interesting to see how they go quiet when we are doing well but start posting like crazy when we don't.

Also if they can't find anything to moan about at SFC they will dig out something about a former employee of the club and slag them off.

Oh well, you pay your fiver and usethe forum as you see fit I suppose...cheaper than a therapist!

Care in the community for some.

No, but there were some idiots expecting us to win every game without that talent...

Personally, I feel vindicated.

I felt Pardew was doing the right things and the right results would come. They have.

In my book that makes me a football genuis. Don't shatter my illusions... ;)

We always agreed DD that we would make the play-offs, but I bet I am the only one of the two of us holding betting slips to that effect!! :)

No manager is perfect. Even Pearson has just been on the wrong end of 5-1 thrashing, and all that "In George we trust" stuff looked a bit sick as the Burley time went on. People should not take criticism the wrong way, as it can be very useful sometimes to have a "Critical Friend" which is the role some people adopt occasionally. Is there a manager in Div1 that we'd rather have? I think not, but it doesn't mean fans can't question or criticise.

I'll admit when we were drawing lots and losing the occasional game at the start of the season, I wasn't sure if it was gonna work with pardew (based on his time at charlton as well, seeing as everything was on a downward spiral at saints, I thought he might just be another factor, his career on the down, our club on the down) and I definitely posted saying I wasn't sure if it was gonna work, but am I going to beat myself up over it? No, I was working on what was happening at the time.. I don't think people should get so upset about fans being critical, surely its natural to want/demand success?

I jumped on the "if results don't improve, get rid of him" bandwagon a couple of months back. I think I was still in a hangover of last season, where patience got me nowhere, as we went down.

Full credit to AP though. Haven't felt so good about Saints since 03.

To be fair, if our second ten games were as bad as our first ten games then Pardew should have been sacked.

Think how fantastic our run has been and we've only been out of the bottom four for a week. Fantastic football and performances and it gets us out of the bottom four only in December. That's how difficult it has been.

If our first twenty games were a continuation of the first ten we'd be royally screwed and Pardew's role would have been untenable immediately. Sad but true.

That's all people were saying back then, and they were right to. It's a bloody internet forum. That's all.

PS - LOL at the people who spent the autumn making out we'd only ever scrape fifth from bottom this season. I said Play offs were the aim in August, got slated for being unrealistic by those delivering pompous "reality checks" like they knew best.

Well, we'll see what "reality" looks like come May, won't we?
