Matthew Le God Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 For the 1st time this season if the 10 points added back we'd be in the top 6. 9 points from the playoffs and 26 games left. Very possible now.
NickG Posted 5 December, 2009 Author Posted 5 December, 2009 torquay was a draw.. not even you can argue with this thread title!
Saint_clark Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 torquay was a draw.. The result of the Torquay fixture was a win for the Saints. But that is irrelevant, you are making yourself look very petty and childish by continuing to argue this...
Thedelldays Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 not even you can argue with this thread title! when do I ever..? this is the form I was banging on about ages ago and getting called unrealistic..and told we should just "stay up"... happy days really
S-Clarke Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 4 wins on the bounce now. 10 unbeaten on the road. 1 defeat in 14 league winning form tbf.
Thedelldays Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 The result of the Torquay fixture was a win for the Saints. But that is irrelevant, you are making yourself look very petty and childish by continuing to argue this... i was taking the mick ffs
NickG Posted 5 December, 2009 Author Posted 5 December, 2009 when do I ever..? this is the form I was banging on about ages ago and getting called unrealistic..and told we should just "stay up"... happy days really meant I changed the thread title to appease your torquay debate!

Legod Third Coming Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 15th now - playoffs is definitly a realistic target whereas it wasn't after the Brighton game...????

Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 whereas it wasn't after the Brighton game...???? Ive said since the summer that playoffs should and would be acheivable - folk on here said "anyone that thinks playoffs is do-able this year is stupid" I was right, they were wrong lalalala
Weston Saint Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Last 10 league games Won 7 - Drew 2 - Lost 1 - For 25 - Against 13 - Points 23 out of 30 Champions form. It's good to be a Saints fan
Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 WON Walsall 3-1 Connolly, Lambert, Hammond WON Wycombe 1-0 Lambert WON Northampton 3-2 Waigo, Lallana, Hammond WON Hartlepool 3-1 Lallana (2) Lambert Drew Norwich 2-2 Lallana Connolly LOST Brighton 3-1 Lambert WON Charlton 2-1 Thomas, Lambert WON Bristol Rover 3-2 Connolly (2) Antonio Drew Orient 2-2 Lambert (2) WON MK 3-1 Lambert, Connolly, Hammond WON Oldham 3-1 Lambert, Connolly, Hammond WON Southend 3-1 Lallana (2) Trottman WON Torquay (pens) 2-2 Wiago (2) WON Gillingham 4-1 Lambert, Lallana (2), Waigo notice went for fixtures this time to stop arguements! If you squint your eyes and look at the results for long enough, you can see the face of jesus appearing. weird
NickG Posted 5 December, 2009 Author Posted 5 December, 2009 Last 10 league games Won 7 - Drew 2 - Lost 1 - For 25 - Against 13 - Points 23 out of 30 Champions form. It's good to be a Saints fan keep form from last 10 and we will finish on 82 points
Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 keep form from last 10 and we will finish on 82 points win every game left and we will finish on 100 points. that should be the target
Saint Jude Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 retaining a dominance away from home...we were top before today... http://www.footymad.net/football-form-tables?divno=23
Jimmy_D Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 IMHO, just because the result of the cup game would have been a draw IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT competition, does not mean that it should be considered a draw, as we won the game under the rules of the competition we were in. Whichever way you look at it... we're going well
It's There Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Question..is this the best Saints run EVER over 15 games? Anyone know?
bender Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 I've been keeping an eye on the points difference between us and play offs. After the Brighton game it was 15. Last week it was 12. Now its 9. I reckon we could be in touching distance by Xmas.
Cabrone Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Which ever way you look at it it's very powerful form. Keep this up and playoffs will happen. Really pleased with todays result - thought it could have been a real banana skin. Need to be targeting another 3 against Tranmere and a draw at Leeds. The other teams don't seem to be able to cope with a Connoly\Lambert combo up front.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Question..is this the best Saints run EVER over 15 games? Anyone know? Think we had a better run under Burley?
Thedelldays Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Think we had a better run under Burley? hahahaha
Matthew Le God Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Question..is this the best Saints run EVER over 15 games? Anyone know? We have won a few leagues and come 2nd and 3rd a number of times in the past so it is quite likely in has been better in the past.
InvictaSaint Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Did we not? Love the Avatar. My 2 year old daughter managed to come up with "What you talking about, Willis" today with no prompting at all.....
westofshannonsaint Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 games played 20 points total 22 games remaining 26 points req for promotion 53* remaining points available 78 points per game required 2.038461538* points we can afford to drop 25 (7 losses & 4 draws) *assuming 75 pts req for promotion
Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Love the Avatar. My 2 year old daughter managed to come up with "What you talking about, Willis" today with no prompting at all..... http://www.mensa.org.uk/ clearly
Johnny Bognor Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 The important stats for me are that we are 2 points off the top half (which was 4 before today) and we have cut the gap to the playoffs 9 points. A good day at the office all in all.
JustMike Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 78 points left to play for..got to be play offs hasnt it?
madsent Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 games played 20 points total 22 games remaining 26 points req for promotion 53* remaining points available 78 points per game required 2.038461538* [/b]points we can afford to drop 25 (7 losses & 4 draws) *assuming 75 pts req for promotion I think you need to do your maths again. 7 losses and 4 draws would be 29 points dropped.
Thedelldays Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 I think you need to do your maths again. 7 losses and 4 draws would be 29 points dropped. erm...
Under Weststand Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 games played 20 points total 22 games remaining 26 points req for promotion 53* remaining points available 78 points per game required 2.038461538* points we can afford to drop 25 (7 losses & 4 draws) *assuming 75 pts req for promotion Have thought all along that we would probably just miss out on the final play off place, but a play off place certainly looks plausible tonight. Not a ridiculous scenario 15 wins 7 defeats & 4 draws. I think that equals 26 games
derry Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Last 10 league games Won 7 - Drew 2 - Lost 1 - For 25 - Against 13 - Points 23 out of 30 Champions form. It's good to be a Saints fan Leeds 46 points from 19 games, Charlton 42 points from 20 games. They are right out of reach unless they collapse. Let's see where we are after January and who we sign. If we keep this up we could be pretty close to the last two play off places with 18 games to play.
Red Alert Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 erm... 2 pts for a draw is a new one on me. Its points dropped. So if you draw you get 1 point. From a possible 3 i would say thats two dropped. 7 losses = 21 points dropped 4 draws = 8 points dropped 21+8=29.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Maths not a strong point for some on here not realizing that a draw is 2 points dropped
S-Clarke Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 ''With 4 wins on the bounce, 10 away games unbeaten and 11 wins in 14 games (scoring 35 goals in the process) Southampton boast a current record up there with some of the most inform teams in England. Leeds United will be in for their biggest test of the season when they face the Saints in a fortnight.''
Arizona Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 23 points in the last 10 league games. If we continue that form over the rest of the season, it would put us in 6th in last season's table with 81. Doable, but a very big ask to maintain this form for that many games. To put it simply, if we maintain that form, but with ONE draw instead of a win, we would miss out. COYR!!!!
John Cool Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Our current away form is awesome http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/aform.html Keep it up lads, no pressure :-)
S-Clarke Posted 5 December, 2009 Posted 5 December, 2009 Our current away form is awesome http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/aform.html Keep it up lads, no pressure :-) no worries, we can make it 11 unbeaten at Leeds
NickG Posted 5 December, 2009 Author Posted 5 December, 2009 WON Walsall 3-1 Connolly, Lambert, Hammond WON Wycombe 1-0 Lambert WON Northampton 3-2 Waigo, Lallana, Hammond WON Hartlepool 3-1 Lallana (2) Lambert Drew Norwich 2-2 Lallana Connolly LOST Brighton 3-1 Lambert WON Charlton 2-1 Thomas, Lambert WON Bristol Rover 3-2 Connolly (2) Antonio Drew Orient 2-2 Lambert (2) WON MK 3-1 Lambert, Connolly, Hammond WON Oldham 3-1 Lambert, Connolly, Hammond WON Southend 3-1 Lallana (2) Trottman WON Torquay (pens) 2-2 Wiago (2) WON Gillingham 4-1 Lambert, Lallana (2), Waigo notice went for fixtures this time to stop arguements! 37 goals, must fill the team with confidence
