Arizona Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 other clubs do this on frees and loans......we have spent a fortune already and will do so (in div 3 terms) and im all for it... True however... We regularly get 20,000 through the gate. When I went to Oldham they had a little over 5,000. An extra 15,000 people paying on average £20 a ticket for 23 home games is another £6.9m. That's just a theoretical number, but even if it were half that, it's still a lot of extra cash coming in for a L1 club. In terms of income we are the Man Utd of L1. the scud Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Here is what i would do, first sell the following players: - Marek Saganowski - Olly Lancashire - Tommy Forecast - Lee Holmes - Lee Molyneux - Simon Gillett - Anthony Pulis - Matthew Paterson - Oscar Gobern - Jack Saville - Michael Poke Then i would loan out the following: - Jamie White - Callum McNish - Jack Boyle - Ryan Doble Now, with the £5 million and the extra cash from players sold i would sign: - Michail Antonio - Any two out of these, Brett Pitman, Simeon Jackson, Adam le Fondre, Chris Dagnall - Declan Rudd - to replace Poke and Forecast - Trotman if not Ritchie De Laet on loan maybe? or Tamika Mkandawire

SNSUN Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Buy a Bugatti Veyron. Oh for the club? Well I wouldn't sign anyone on big money - I'd rather keep the bulk of the £5 million until the summer when we have a better idea of where we are and which players will stay. We do need a Trotman replacement, or at least get Trotman on a loan for the rest of the season, and another striker in the Lambert mold.

Bensfcno1 Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Give Lallana a bonus to stay and not be tempted by the money a prem club could offer! A Quick Winger who will be consistant and knows the offside rule! Cover for Hammond and Sneiderlin on loan A quick centre halve Right back cover or replacement for Murty as James is much better in the middle Another Striker as cover for Lambert and/or Connolly! Webby Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 I think we need a couple more players as well as trying to keep/buy the ones we have on loan at present. The way we're going now, we could seriously make the play offs, and if we do, then I think we'd be favourites to go up. We just need maybe one more striker to make that extra difference if Connolly or Lambert, God forbid, should get injured.

Charlie2008 Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Simple question, really. I'm v. upbeat about the owner, the management and the players. Let's say Pardew gets offered £5m to strengthen. If you were AP, how would you spend it (serious suggestions only please!) My own view: Sign Trotman, Waigo and - most importantly - Antonio (guesstimate 1.5m -at about 500K each) Put Lallana and Schneiderlin on drastically improved and lengthened contracts with huge buy out clauses (guesstimate £2m) Keep 1.5m in your top pocket in a Wengeresque way. Thoughts? Aint not gonna happen IMO. 2M tops. With that, sort out Spidey and Lallana to deter pilfering, sign Antonio on long term loan/contract and get in an experienced defender/utility player a la Delap (but not him obviously!) Ian the Red Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Let's face if we are to push on we need at least 3 players in the transfer window. Trottman is not good enough, dont sign him. Papa has potential, if only he'd learn the offside rule; Antonio he has potential and no team likes a player runing at them with pace. Then we need another goal scorer, we rely on Lambert, Connolly and Lalana to weigh in with important goals. if we get two of these injured at the same time we will stop scoring. So goal scorer is a must in January. Defence needs strengthening; rarely do we keep a clean sheet; so a centre half and Left back. Midfield again we probably need one quality player. So I think if AP had 5M he needs 4 players and then it will be the play offs!!

david in sweden Posted 6 December, 2009 Share Posted 6 December, 2009 I think I'll also do the traditional, 'bring back Andrejs "Shev" Pereplyotkins' on this thread too. Another Baltic type who always turns out pretty good on FM is Estonian winger Sander Puri. Available on a free I think after leaving Levadia Tallinn. Had trials at Dortmund and actually has a trial at Celtic this week. Maybe a bit ambitious, but would be good. I'd be inclined to agree providing he still had some of the talent he had when here as a junior. If it hadn't been for the ******Home office rules he'd have stayed anyway ! Andy_Porter Posted 6 December, 2009 Share Posted 6 December, 2009 Owen Garvan (1.5m), JP Size (500k), Jack Cork (2m) and Michail Antonio (250k). Antonio will be available for 100k max, he's out of contract in the summer and isn't fancied at reading at all. I'd extend his loan, see how he gets on for the full season before committing to a long-term deal. Owen Garvan is a decent shout, although i question his appetite as he came close to quitting the game a year ago as he'd become ''bored'' with it. Was a strange situation, think it's happened twice with Ipswich now. Maybe it's just depressing playing for the Tractor boys. He's out of favour with Keane so should probably be available, would just be a case of wether he wanted to drop down a division for 6 months. Aardvark Posted 6 December, 2009 Share Posted 6 December, 2009 Well obviously as we are DEFINITELY getting promoted by the playoffs (see other topics on this forum for proof of this) then we would have to bet the whole lot on such an outcome. Even at odds of say 10-1 we would clear 50,000,000 (plus the original 5!). Think what we could do with that! That's right put it all on promotion to the Prem in 2011! saint peach Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 Offloading the deadwood should be out first port of call. Then sign young, hungry players who would bolster the squad and be able to play at Championship level sooner rather than later. Antonio would fit the bill, as would Sam Vokes. I think an experienced head like Matt Oakley would be the right signing for a potential promotion push then Championship campaign, I just doubt Leicester would let him go. And as for Adam Le Fondre, he would be a good purchase but won't be going and as for the move for Saejis, it just won't happen.

brightspark Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 Putting massive buy out clauses on the contracts of Schniederlin and Lallana is the most important thing. We need to try and keep them, even if we fail to get promotion this season (which is likely). Let Trotman go back to Preston, and invite Jaidi to the office, and allow him to pick which central defenders he'd like to work with. Sign one of those central defenders. Lets face it, Chris Perry won't be good enough next season, and arguably isn't good enough now (despite showing a lot of 'heart' - credit to him for that)

saintbletch Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 Cork is a good shout, but he wouldn't come here. He has just signed a new 3 year deal at Chelsea, so clearly fancies himself as having a future there. Chelsea started signing up all their pros on long-term contracts when they got the transfer 'ban'. I personally wouldn't expect to see him forcing his way into the Chelsea team any time soon unless the transfer ban is upheld and every pro in front of him decides to leave the club. That said I agree he'll have "better" offers ahead of us I'm sure. Shame he'd be a cracking signing.
Andy_Porter Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 Cant see cork ever getting into the Chelsea team, he'd probably be quite happy to play for a club who win every week as opposed to his last four loans. He'd be perfect for us at the moment, would take a bit of persuasion but I don't see why not. Cork is the sort of player we should be going for, young and experienced in the Championship meaning we wouldn't have to replace him in the summer. There's no way Beattie would come here, he will end up Hull or someone similar. Would be a great signing though we really need cover for Lambert and I'm not sure Paterson is ready just yet. Maybe Vokes? If Leeds don't take him we should make an offer.

What a bizzare thing to say, there are plenty of very good players in League One already. We aren't anything special, just a good league one side not like we're streets ahead of everyone. Someone like Simeon Jackson would jump at the chance of joining us and be immense coming off the bench or playing place of Connolly. Andy_Porter Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 what's something special? Winning nearly all of your games? Yes, if we had won all our games I'd say we had the best team in the league and couldn't improve it with League one players. Even since we signed Waigo/Jaidi and turned our season around we've had a few dodgy performances. I'm not being negative it's just how I see it, we can and should improve in January. We're playing great and doing well but shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. Plenty of players we can get who would improve our team Simeone Jackson and Barnard from Southend would be a good start and then a centre back and we'd be set. Arizona Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 I think we lack depth more than quality. Up front we have Connolly and Lambert, but other than that? Saga? Pato?
