Saw this on the football ground guide:

"The King George V in Wallowes Lane is okay, but as the nearest pub to the ground it gets (rather expectantly) rather busy which can make it a bit difficult to get served quickly. It is about a 15 minute walk away, opposite the Morrisons Supermarket. If you are walking from the stadium, go out of the official car parks and down towards McDonalds. Go past McDonalds on your right and take a left hand turn into Wallowes Lane. At the end of the lane turn left onto the main road and the pub is just setback on the left. Away fans though should avoid the Fulbrook pub near to the ground."

Ive just been approached by four Southampton fans by The Fullbrook, asking where there is a decent pub.

I have sent them on a wild goose chase, and given them directions to The Duke Of Wellington by the church at the top of the hill. They will get a shock to see it boarded up!!

It wasn't actually. We'd parked just by george as it was right by M6. When we saw it was closed we just walked down to Saddler's club which did the job. It did get busy in the there and getting served took a while. I asked one of the bar staff if it was normally ths busy, hoping she'd say no making me feel like we were a big club. Unfortunately she said yes, they were just understaffed.

At the end of the game, I was quite quick to get out of the away overflow at the rear of the Park Inn but got stopped by the car-park attendant (stationary for about 10 minutes) to let the coaches out. He joked, "There's got to be a better way than this! We're just not used to this many away fans, usually it's 1 or 2 coaches then we're all away" The female steward chipped in and said "we're normally home by now."

I went to the Fullbrook. Did not realise until this thread that it was advised aginst. It was fine until invaded by the yoof plus a few other well known faces whose "yoof" was well behind them !
