NickG Posted 3 December, 2009 Author Posted 3 December, 2009 radio solent, interview played this morning when I was in the car. It will be on their listen again but I was in car for 2 1/2 hours so not sure when it was! Didn't say anymore than that. The journo intro said saints definately buying players I think but it was a while ago!
Smirking_Saint Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 Nice, well, with another 3 pts on sat looks like it will be a decent crimbo
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 Pardew said today will add to squad in January transfer window on radio "important to keep strengthening "Nicola has invested in us wants to go forward quickly changing room all changed definitely adding in the window Sounds good. He means Markus presumably. No point having money in the bank while watching 3rd Div football.
Toomer Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 I heard that on Solent about 08.20 this morning where he said he would add to the squad in the January window.
Colinjb Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 Really looking forward to January. It's great to be feeling positive about a transfer window.
OldNick Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 Sounds good. He means Markus presumably. No point having money in the bank while watching 3rd Div football. its a ot more enjoyable expecting a positive result though. Im obviously easily pleased but I quite like the football played at present.None of that fancy Dan putting 3 or 4 passes together along the back line then up to the midfield and then to the back 4 again like you get in the Pl
the saint in winchester Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 I heard that on Solent about 08.20 this morning where he said he would add to the squad in the January window. He also says it in the SaintsPlayer interview about Papa's offsides ... he is asked about a lot of things, one being investment in Jan - and he says need to keep improving the side.

doughnutman Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 So nice to be looking forward to a transfer window for a change rather than dreading it...
Saint J 77 Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 So nice to be looking forward to a transfer window for a change rather than dreading it... Definitely looking forward to the transfer window this time around, I wonder who Pardew has in mind to bring in? I'm also hopefully we can get rid of some of the dead wood as well!

mdearlove Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 Must have been a long day, I read that as they were adding a window to the changing room!! Me too! Time to go home soon!
NickG Posted 3 December, 2009 Author Posted 3 December, 2009 Must have been a long day, I read that as they were adding a window to the changing room!! sorry bit of a rushed post! Maybe you are right and I miss heard!
Bailey Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 Make no mistake about it, there will be another big turnover of players at Saints in January and the summer. Pardew has got targets lined up, and a number of current players have been told that their future lies elsewhere. I've been told that we can expect up to 6 new signings in January, with a number of the players out on loan leaving permanently. One thing is for sure, it's going to be an interesting transfer window!

If we can move clear of the relegation places by January, i think we'll be an attractive project for anyone to get involved in.
Charlie Wayman Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 Must have been a long day, I read that as they were adding a window to the changing room!! Where will they put it, it's all inside the stadium. Hope it's got mirror glass, I'd hate to see in!
S-Clarke Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 I only had a tour round a year or so ago, and the changing rooms weren't too shabby then - will be interesting to see what they've done to them.
NickG Posted 3 December, 2009 Author Posted 3 December, 2009 if you look at who we attracted when -10 and bottom, January - hopefully mid table ish, management team settled and with time to shop around, and this winning streak if it continues, we should be able to get decent players
S-Clarke Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 if you look at who we attracted when -10 and bottom, January - hopefully mid table ish, management team settled and with time to shop around, and this winning streak if it continues, we should be able to get decent players totally - also i don't think there will be another club in this league (probably not even int he championship) that can go into January knowing they can buy...buy..buy - and don't even have to sell anyone!
It's There Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 Must have been a long day, I read that as they were adding a window to the changing room!! Sadly, so did I!
Dark Munster Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 I only had a tour round a year or so ago, and the changing rooms weren't too shabby then - will be interesting to see what they've done to them. Shamelessly copied from an excellent tour guide who posts on Saintlist. Love the last sentence! Regulars on this site will remember that I mentioned recently that the home dressing rooms at St Mary's was in the process of being upgraded. That work has now been finished and I can tell you it is amazing. The floors in both the Shower/bath room and dressing room have been relaid and 20 individual seats have been installed in place of the benches. These individual seats are set back into a light wood self contained alcove, hard to explain, looks something like a throne! The seats are fairly wide, with a black leather cushioned seat finished off by a black leather back rest complete with a saints badge in monogramed style imprinted in the back rest. Each seat has a small wooden locker at the top with an individual safe with a pin number dial. As I say it is difficult to explain in writing. I did not have my camera with me when I went in pre match on Saturday but promise to take it next time i have a tour whether it be at the Tranmere game or a normal day time tour. Then I can email it to someone on this List who can put it on a web-sit for all to see. Believe me it has the 'wow' factor especially when seen with all the kit neatly laid out. The match sponsors guest on Tuesday were very impressed and the first reaction from them was a loud 'wow'. I was told by a member of staff that it is based on the new Arsenal stadium dressing room. I have only seen the Manchester United and Portsmouth dressing recently and it puts the Old Trafford dressing room to shame and as for Fratton Park, well I can tell you that I got changed in better dressing rooms back in the 1930/40's as a schoolboy!

Saint_clark Posted 3 December, 2009 Posted 3 December, 2009 "Each seat has a small wooden locker at the top with an individual safe with a pin number dial." No doubt this was planned before BWP and Dyer left then?

Love the last sentence! as for Fratton Park, well I can tell you that I got changed in better dressing rooms back in the 1930/40's as a schoolboy! Wow - sounds snazy. Thanks for that - May have to see if i can arrange another tour! It's nice to be a rich club though - and lol @ the pompey statement. ahhh, even though we're in L1, they're still trailing in our wake infrastructure wise.
Thedelldays Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 Does this mean we won't be aiming for 19th has anyone told pardew how unrealsitic he is....?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 Does this mean we won't be aiming for 19th has anyone told pardew how unrealsitic he is....? AP needs to wise up! ANYONE that thinks promotion is possible this year is mental chicken oriental
eelpie Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 Hope its double glazed as its getting cold and a few of our players are getting on a bit No, I think they should take the glazing out and harden 'em up!
yorkie Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 He has a quandary - if the team is playing well and winning why change? Adding new players to the squad - means competition for places, but can disrupt the team spirit and ethic. By the end of January we will know whether we have a real chance of pushing for promotion via the play-offs. We should fear no one - we are clearly head and shoulders above many of the teams in this league. However we are currently not showing the swagger and arrogance of a side believeing it is too good for this league. New players with a better pedigree may create that feeling amongst the squad - it is a very difficult balancing act to work to. Yes we could do with some more "good" players - but ex-Championship has beens - no thanks! There must be quite a few decent hungry young Premiership players aching to play and would take a cut in salary? Dream on...has beens or half decent players at our rivals is the best we can hope for...is Beckham free? PS I did hear Guttusso was looking for a move to England...Nicola is he a mate of yours?
derry Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 There will probably be a lot of players available who are out of contract on the 1st July for small fees. If we strengthen in January the team has the rest of the season to gel and if we make the CCC further strengthening to hit the ground running in August. I sense that the owner wants to see promotion as soon as possible. Unlikely this season but not impossible. The last two places could be possible as a lot of teams will beat each other.
Master Bates Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 Interesting to hear that he's (Pardew) away on a coaching course, knowing there's always room for improvement. Well done Pards

Im obviously easily pleased but I quite like the football played at present.None of that fancy Dan putting 3 or 4 passes together along the back line then up to the midfield and then to the back 4 again like you get in the Pl I remember an interview once with an old boy supporter of Sunderland after they had been promoted to the Prem during their yo-yo years between the top two divisions. When asked 'you must be looking forward to next season in the top flight' his response was 'you must be joking, watching us lose week in week out is no fun at all, I'd rather watch us winning in the Championship each week'.
Smirking_Saint Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 AP needs to wise up! ANYONE that thinks promotion is possible this year is mental chicken oriental I dunno, what is it now ?? 11 points ?? 10 points ?? I certainly would not be adverse to him giving it a go, much better than sitting back til next season
Master Bates Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 AP needs to wise up! ANYONE that thinks promotion is possible this year is mental chicken oriental Crystal Palace. If they can make the play offs when 12 points away from the play off zone at xmas, then so might we.
Tac-tics Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 Glasgow Saint, normally I think your posts are pretty standard and allright, however, lately, I just want to know, what the **** are you on about? We can make the play-offs.
wild-saint Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 AP needs to wise up! ANYONE that thinks promotion is possible this year is mental chicken oriental Well I think its possible and wont give up untill its over. Anyone would think you dont want us to have a chance.
saint_stevo Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 if we make the play off's i will run naked through west quay covered in peanut butter
Tac-tics Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 I'd happily join you with a bit of flesh running and smering of jams and butter's. Yet it still is possible, would you rather we just said, **** it, pack up shop now and survive?
Torres Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 Crystal Palace. If they can make the play offs when 12 points away from the play off zone at xmas, then so might we. If we win tomorrow we will have the same number of points as Palace did at the same point in the year they went up (03/04).
Smirking_Saint Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 if we make the play off's i will run naked through west quay covered in peanut butter Jesus christ, in a way i now agree with glasgow, hoping we don't go up
VectisSaint Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 if we make the play off's i will run naked through west quay covered in peanut butter smooth or crunchy?
Torres Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 smooth or crunchy? It'll have nuts in it whatever.
hypochondriac Posted 4 December, 2009 Posted 4 December, 2009 Glasgow saint is the numpty formally known as original Bournemouth saint. He is on a windup and saying things to provoke a reaction.
